About this product

For the 250th anniversary of Luigi Giuseppe Capotorti's birth (Molfetta, 1767), the Association devised, designed and began to carry out a research and rediscovery project which would assign true value to the Molfettese composer and his works. Certainly, a challenge to oblivion as well as an act of knowledge we owe to younger generations for future memory. Maestro Luigi Capotorti was a talented musician and a leading composer in the Neapolitan music scene. He was successful and achieved fame in the first half of the 19th century and together with the many Apulian musicians who studied and worked in Naples, he was part of the Inchtrading activismInch which characterized the dynamism in music typical of the time, as the critic Moliterni remarked. His works, performed and greatly appreciated by the public of his time and recognized by his contemporary critics, still today deserve great attention. The content of this album does not focus on Capotorti's theatre music, but rather on some of his sacred and instrumental compositions, performed in original version following philological editions and avoiding arrangements and transcriptions. The chosen sources are rare, some hardly known, some autographed, all enshrined in Italy InchNuova Messa per solennità festivaInch in the Diocesan Historical Archive in Molfetta; the arietta InchInnocente VerginellaInch in the Convent of the Benedictine nuns in San Severo; InchL'Augurio del Santo NataleInch and InchSinfonia scritta a piena orchestra e ridotta per P.F.Inch in Biblioteca di San Pietro a Majella in Naples; InchDivertimento graziosoInch in Fondo Noseda Conservatory in Milan. Album Tracks 1. Nuova Messa Per Solennita Festiva 2. Divertimento Grazioso 3. L'augorio Del Santo Natale 4. Sinfonia 5. Innocente Verginella

Prandi Coro Ghislieri - Petite Messe Solennelle - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

This is the third recording to represent Giulio Prandi's interpretative research on the great Italian choral repertory, after the special and successful releases of works by Jommelli and Pergolesi, cornerstones of the golden age of the Neapolitan school. Faced with the challenge posed by Rossini's essential masterpiece, Prandi has chosen an original and courageous path, following deep reflection. The new critical edition of the Rossini Foundation of Pesaro is used here for the first time in a recording studio; three rare instruments roughly contemporary with the work - pianos by rard and Pleyel, a D bain harmonium - have been selected to ensure an authentic, vital, luminous sound, guaranteed by the artistry of the keyboardist and professor at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis Francesco Corti; four illustrious soloists have been engaged Sandrine Piau, Jos Maria Lo Monaco, Edgardo Rocha and Christian Senn. Finally, the fundamental contribution of the Coro Ghislieri, an acknowledged world-class ensemble in early repertory, sets the seal on a recording of rare merit. Album Tracks 1. Kyrie 2. Gloria 3. Credo 4. Prélude Religieux Pendant L'offertoire 5. Sanctus 6. O Salutaris 7. Agnus Dei

Pergolesi / Petersen / Prandi - Messa in Re Maggiore - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

New light on Pergolesi! This album sheds light on a lesser-known aspect of the great Italian composer, offering two masterpieces in their first modern edition and first recording the Mass in D major and the mottettone Dignas Laudes. Both editions are the outcome of recent musicological research carried out by the Centro Studi Pergolesi in Milan, and show a facet of Pergolesi - his energetic and solemn character - that complements and amplifies the dramatic and introspective moods of his most renowned sacred works. This Arcana inaugurates a collaboration with the Ghislieri Choir & Consort and celebrates the fifteenth anniversary of the ensemble, which specialises in eighteenth-century sacred repertory and has already recorded works by Galuppi, Jommelli, Perez (Il Mattutino de' Morti) and Handel (Handel in Rome 1707) for Sony-DHM. The soloists on this recording, conducted by Giulio Prandi, are the soprano Marlis Petersen, one of the leading sopranos on the international scene, and a quintet of young Italian singers who already perform in the most important and prestigious European venues. Album Tracks 1. Messa in Re Maggiore 2. Mottetto InchDignas Laudes ResonemusInch
