After several months of research between choosing the right mini split based on price and popularity, I decided to bite the bullet and go for this cheaper variant. I wanted to do the majority of the work myself and was very intimidated by the tools needed, however I'm very glad I did it and learned a lot in the process. 1. Lines are pre charged, BUT you need to vacuum the lines. I had a vacuum pump from elsewhere (model ‎VH322 - vivohome) and it came with the correct adapters and everything needed. I also watched a couple of youtube videos on how to vacuum the lines. This was one of the more stressful parts of the install (minus cutting a hole in the wall) but after watching the videos a few times, I went for it and was able to do it myself without any issues. 2. I was not comfortable with adding my own electrical box outside so I hired an electrician to do so. It took them less than 2 hours. Cost $400-500 3. MAKE SURE you match the wires to the correct place on the outdoor unit's terminal block. I made a mistake and tried to unscrew the one to swap the wires and the screw head stripped. The screws on the terminal are very, very, soft so be extra careful here. This cost me a whole day because I was trying everything i could to remove the screw with no luck. I ended up having to cut the wires and splice them together (will be soldering them as a permanent solution later) but for now it works just fine. Make sure to triple check the wires before screwing them in! This was easily the most frustrating part to be honest, and I thought the unit was faulty. IF you do have to cut the wires and splice, give yourself plenty of wire to do so, I ended up cutting the wire right at the screw when the wires MUST be connected via the terminal block to work. I tried splicing the same color wires without them being in the terminal and there was 0 power. I'm sure electricians are laughing but it was a very big mistake and I'm glad I could still have enough wire to make it work. Overall, I'm VERY impressed and glad I went the DIY route. I saved a lot, learned a ton, and built more confidence in doing more things around the house like this. You don't need to spend $2000 on a Mr Cool DIY kit. You will save a lot of money vacuuming the lines yourself and hiring an electrician if you don't feel comfortable running the electric to the unit outside. I keep the mini split at 72 degrees in the garage, so I can open the door to the garage from inside the house and it is the same exact temperature. I do not have insulation above the garage and it stays at temp with the fan speed on LOW. I checked the electric bill and I honestly could not tell the difference between the full month I used it and the previous month. The mini split stays running 24/7 (I've heard it's much more efficient that way and is better for it). If I had to guess, maybe it added $5-10 to my bill but was not noticeable to me. I have a two car garage and it has no problem cooling it down, maybe 450ish square feet? The electrician said a single zone normally uses less power than a microwave, and I now believe that. Don't feel intimidated by the vacuuming and install. Watch some videos, take a deep breath, and go for it.

Bought this bak in May of 2025 Installed the unit myself 6 months and its been great very quite it cools and heats very well the wifi works great no complaints about any thing its Installed in between the master bedroom and bath it has kept it at 64 degrees all summer size of both rooms is 500 sq ft and its not isolated from the rest of the house the bedroom door was left open this is my first mini split should have bought one sooner

Works great. Instructions are user friendly and comes in black perfect for converted garage in black. Very efficient at 22 SEER for the price.

Great little unit! Thought I was going to need a higher BTU range for my jr ADU but it does the job! Great in the summer and even better during the cold winters days. Having it connected to my phone is perfect because I work nights so when I get off of work I can set it to a certain temperature and have it be nice and cool when I get home to go to sleep.

After my R22-4ton heatpump's compressor bit the dust, The repair guy said it would be $4200 to replace just the compressor. After looking around I found this unit and decided it would be cheaper to install 4 of these stretegically located throughout the house. The hardest part was pulling new line (240 volt). Just screw the bracket into studs, cut a 2-1/8 hole from inside to outside, connect the control cord, high and low lines to the outdoor unit and connect the unit to a 240v (30amp disconnect with 15 amp fuses) all 4 installed witghout issues and run great (so far). No more worrying about mold and critters in ducts or changing expensive filters. No more thermostat. (remote that works really nice) I briefly tested the heat on 3 and it takes about 10 minutes to activate. I haven't tested heat on the 4th, but I'm not expecting any issues. So far, I'm pretty happy!

I installed this mini-split back in January and after several months of use through both colder and warmer days, I can confidently say it’s been an excellent investment, especially for the price. My space is about 360 sq ft and while that’s smaller than what a 12,000 BTU unit is typically rated for, I intentionally sized up and I’m glad I did. The system heats and cools the room incredibly fast. In the winter, it takes the chill out within minutes and now it cools just as quickly without constantly running. Overall, this unit has exceeded my expectations. If you’re debating sizing, going slightly larger worked out great for me.

I am very happy with my purchase. I found this mini split air conditioner on my Best Buy app. It has all the features i was looking for, WiFi control, energy efficient inverter driven compressor etc. At the time of purchase this unit was on sale at a great price that was even lower than the cheaper units i was comparing it to. I ordered it on Monday and received a day earlier than was expected on Thursday. Installed it on Friday and have been enjoying it since. I recommend this unit if you are looking for a great value at a great price. Thanks Best Buy

Very easy to install and set up, and amazing to have for every room in your house, very economical and so quiet, even the outdoor unit is so quiet that you can’t hear it running almost right in front of it, has a remote control and can also use WiFi to control it while you’re away too, great unit and very reasonable price, and if you’re looking to cool/heat a specific area or room, it’s the perfect way to get it accomplished.

If it wasn’t for CHAT GPT I would have docked this AC a star haha. Otherwise works great. The menu or instructions are a major issue, you can clearly tell they were translated from a different language. Chat GPT aided me a ton on the install and other than some spotty looking line welds the product works great!

Cools and heats Amazing in our ADU that is 175sqft.

Amazing price for this mini split! I have not been able to install it yet, but it's just what I need for my garage so I can work in there year-round! I hope to install it before it gets too hot out.

A/C works good, Today weather morning is cold So i decided to try the heater option For my surprise heater does not work at all

Took about 8 hors to hook up with very little help. Had to buy a set of guages and a vacuum pump and all the electrical wiring and a disconnect box plus the brackets to mount the heat pump on the outside wall. I just can figure out y I am having trouble setting the tempature I set the ac to 68 and the temp drops to 63 then when I use the heat I can set it at 68 and the temp of the room will get up to 88-90

We purchased this to be the only heat and cooling support in a garage we turned into an apartment. It was installed in warm weather, so we needed only the air conditioner, but when it got cold outside, we discovered that the heat wouldn't work. We had an HVAC person here for 5 hours, and he concluded that it was simply a bad unit. Since only parts are warranteed, we're out what we spent for the unit, what we paid to have it installed, and what we spent to get it fixed (which didn't happen). Our technician was on the phone with Best Buy and Costway for hours, and they were useless. We have no heat.
