First off, you MUST use the adapter to make these work. If you cannot use the included bulb adapter, you have to request the modular adapter. Also, you must know what type of bulbs you have, for example, whether or not they are dimmable. I have one of these in the garage motion activated, set to stay on for 10 minutes and another that operates my front porch lights that comes on at 7pm and off at sunrise. These are fantastic light switches when installed properly.

This is only the case when the power passing through the switch is less than the amount required for proper operation. For example, if a fixture has in it one, low-wattage LED bulb, then an adapter is required for proper operation. We have been using this “smart” motion detection switch for a little over a year now. It seemed to work just fine at the beginning but quickly found that there is a significant delay of 10-15 seconds between entering the room and the lights actually turning on. We also found that it will often turn the light on but all the way at the dimmest setting for some reason. I have been able to press the bottom to turn off and then press again to turn back on and then it will go back to full brightness. I might still be able to use this in a closet or another low traffic area with the motion detection turned off but for the downstairs bathroom, I just replaced with a cheap Amazon motion detection occupancy/vacancy sensor switch and is already performing much better than this switch. The cheapie Amazon switch detects motion at a fraction of a second and instantly turns the switch on!

The motion sensor was a big draw for me towards these switches. The setup requires some patience since it depends on your internet speed and Bluetooth connection. The settings in the app are intuitive, but they tend to come in effect about 50% of the time. I had to schedule switch times a couple of times before it worked correctly. Other than that, switch works great. Enjoying the motion sensor control quite a bit. Touching switch buttons seems a chore now :D

The switch is great for houses without a neutral wire. It's convenient to be able to toggle the lights by the physical, switch, voice command, and phone. This smart switch has some shortcomings however. The initial setup will be difficult for those who are not tech savvy. The instructions recommend you use the bulb adapter; it's a definite must for dimmable LED bulbs, other than C by GE's own bulbs I believe. Otherwise, other brand dimmable LED bulbs will flicker/buzz and not dim very well. The next flaw is the app. It's pretty slow. At first, my switch was having difficulty connecting with the app. I thought it had something to do with my dual 2.4/5 GHz SSID. The switch can only connect to 2.4 GHz networks and my phone was connected to the 5 GHz. However, there was still a connection issue in the app even with my phone connected to the 2.4 GHz SSID. Now, the switch connects fine in the app, but there is still a 15 second connection delay when opening the app. It should be instant like the LIFX app. The last issue with the switch is motion sensing. In theory it sounds like a great idea. But whenever I turn the switch off via Google Assistant, the lights turn back on instantly. Either the motion sensor is way too sensitive or there is a glaring big. Also, the only way to disable motion sensing, is through the app, which has connection issues with the switch. It took half an hour to configure motion sensor settings to my liking and they still did not work. I ended up disabling the motion sensor, which took another 10 minutes because the switch kept disconnecting from the app. All in all, despite the terrible initial setup and motion sensor, the smart switch does what I need it to do. It integrates well with the Google Home app and allows me to toggle my lights wirelessly or through a physical switch. The only other alternative is to rewire my house with a neutral wire or buy the more expensive Lutron Caseta system. I will be returning this model and buying the dimmer smart switch instead, to save a few dollars.

I have about 25 of the various Cync switches (some sensor, some dimmer, some just on and off) throughout the house and they all work great. Installation is pretty straightforward and the redesigned app is pretty good. Once you install, you rarely even need to use the app. This newer generation of the dimmer seems to work better at detecting the ambient light compared to previous generations, definitely a plus. This allows the lights that turn on to be less powerful during certain times of the day. The app allows you to adjust that further with different settings throughout the day. I also want to give a shout out to their customer service. As mentioned, I have about 25 of these switches. One arrived defective and Cync support sent replacements very promptly without a headache at all. They also pushed a bad firmware update once that bricked one of my devices. They sent an email to everyone proactively and within 5 minutes of calling, a replacement was on the way.

Works well and as advertised. I did have to delete app and re install after an update but other than that this product has worked perfectly. I use mine with Alexa and have really enjoyed being able to bring the lights up in stages first thing in the morning to avoid that, in your face, bright light, first thing in the morning.

Wouldn't connect to my wifi even though the other smart switch I have does just fine. Isn’t a true 3 way. It doesn’t work in conjunction with my other 3 way switch. Cant dim the lights with it.

Works very good and reliable with wi-fi & Alexa. I use this to control the lights in my laundry room off our attached garage. No more walking in with our hands full at night and being in the dark. It has many settings to adjust for motion, light , timer, etc. Love the new "C-by GE" app.
