Dark Souls is a game I both love & hate because as fun as this game is, it's really hard and you are constantly dying over and over but at the same time I love the art and outfits inside it .

This is an excellent game, with beautiful graphics. It is VERY hard. And that's part of playing through Dark Souls. So if you're up for a challenge, definitely pick this game up!

This is my first souls game... In fact I recently just got back into gaming altogether. I was trying to get some fun games to play as a returning gamer. This one looked intriguing. So I picked up a copy and have barely touched the other half dozen or so games I bought. The other games, all great titles, and honestly lots of fun, spend most of their time gathering dust while I attempt to grind through this beast. I want to play other games, I just can't put this down. It is freaking me out. The game is beautiful and captivating from the get-go. It is designed incredibly. The level of detail and thought put into the world and systems is impressive. The combat mechanics are amazing. The music is beautiful. But wow, it can definitely be difficult, at least for me as a new player. I was not prepared for the "prepare to die" tagline to be such an understatement. But it is totally worth playing, and it IS fair, even though sometimes it does not feel that way. At this point, I almost always know exactly why I died, what I did wrong (which can sometimes be one misstep), and what I need to try to get through the next time. I will say that the feeling of accomplishment you get when taking down a boss, or successfully getting through a tough area, is incredible. The developers and the game itself do no hand-holding. Online message boards and videos have been necessary for me at many parts, not just with difficult spots or bosses, but with the lore and character development. There is a whole "souls" world out there, and the community is really great for the most part. Dark Souls will haunt you. It requires so much from you... patience, strategy, critical thinking, creativity, your constant attention... but the payoffs are huge. If you want a challenge, and a game that is as much a blast as it is beautiful and deadly, pick a copy up. If your new like me, just be prepared to be humbled.

There is a certain sadness to seeing a grown man cry. There really is. I have spent many a night with my heart broken after the punishing and crippling deaths that I have experienced in this game. Just about every fight is a battle for life and death. You have to play though fully and carefully. You must use skill and good sense. Traverse carefully The game is beautiful to look at . And it is fun to play. When you win, you win big. When you lose.....it hurts. Prepare yourself.

This game looks amazing and it is well put together. It is a lot of fun to watch someone who is good at the game play it. Playing the game myself I had difficulties getting by parts of the game without dying, a lot. However the satisfaction of finally beating a boss or an area is much higher than other games where you never have any road bumps. This game takes practice and really understanding the controls to get good at fighting.

This game is incredible and together with Bloodborne on the PS4 are the two best games in the soulsborne series. Combat in this game is incredible, it's amazing how fluid and fast it is and the bosses are just as challenging as ever. If you have never played a souls game this is a great place to start.

I enjoyed the Victorian age world and challenging combat. I tried Dark Souls 2 but its graphics felt too dated and the gameplay could've been better. I heard about Dark Souls 3 and the praise it was receiving, so I gave it a try. The graphics were much better than DS2 and the combat was much more fluid. I noticed how all the classes were so much different and wish Bloodborne had more weapons and types of weapons. In Bloodborne I started with a weird hood and small cape that every player started with and a saw that turns into a larger saw. In DS3 I started with a fur cloak and a fire spell and an axe and a shield that some people started with. Without DLC DS3 has more Weapon types than BB has actual weapons. Both Games are good but if someone likes offense based combat or more obscure worlds, they should start with BB. I love both, but Dark Souls III makes me feel like my character is unique. In BB, I feel like hundreds of players use LHB and wear the hunter's garb.

This was my first purchase of the Dark Souls series, so I had no prior expectations of the content. I quickly learned that this is a game for people who like to be punished. I've been playing RPGs all my whole life and I've never died so much during a tutorial. The combat is incredibly challenging and most times unforgiving. There were moments of frustration where I could have kicked a puppy. But then, you start to get the hang of it. And finding the right techniques against enemies becomes interesting, and you find yourself engrossed in the man vs. AI challenge. And more and more, you start finding the punishment.. enjoyable? There's no real story to speak of, and it's easy to miss side quests since there's no prompts to follow. The real appeal of the game is overcoming the intense combat challenges.

Definitely worth buying, playing and adding to your game collection. I got it for under 30$ and it is worth every penny. It is a pain in the butt game because it is difficult but as an action RPG, it delivers.

It's a really great, fun game but be ready to die continuously. There's lots to explore, optional hidden bosses and fun multiplayer co-op. Well worth the challenge!
