I would give it 5 stars, but the disc I received came in scratched.

Not as good as Downfall, but it gives you closure on what happened to the survivors. CGI was pretty lame.

More nasty tales of Dead Space Story Filler leading up to part 2. What makes this one a little extra unique are the various animation styles used to showcase each story.

Let me say the only reason I didn't give it a lower score is that I liked the fact that it helped bridges the gap between the DS1 and DS2 games. That said the story was very sub-bar (at best) and didn't really have much in the way of plot - meaning it was really: beginning-middle-end it was just sort of all middle, and a rather boring middle at that. There were no relatable characters, no main protagonist and as stated the film had no real overall plot or direction. It could have all been summed up in a small article or explanation, or better yet a short bit at the beginning of DS2 story mode. That said, the worst part was the complete awfulness of the actual anime quality!! I won't go into how absolutely bad it was as it would take too long - so I'll just say it was so bad it actually took me out of the story in that all I could think about is that the anime looked like some CGI out the pre-Tron early 1980's. If you're a fan of the Dead Space games and follow with the ever-growing story the makes up the series it's worth a rent (Don't Buy this garbage!) just to see the gap bridged between the two games (or better yet just read the plot online and save yourself the time) but realize that it's pretty darn awful too! If you're not aware of the games...don't let this aweful anime keep you from playing one of the best series of video games this decade, both dead space 1 and 2 stand apart from a lot of games in most categories!

I watched the first Dead Space movie and I have to say this one is much better. I know the other review is kind of bashing this anime, but I thought it was a good watch all and all. First off, I never watch anime, so maybe I don't know what is "quality" anime, but I think the story was good and I liked the approach. Only people that are diehard Dead Space fans are going to buy this and I don't think they will be disappointed. I got some really good deal on this as a combo purchase with the game. I will say, $25 is a hefty price tag for what it is. This is probably something you would be fine renting, but I think I would watch it again. For $25 you have to really like Dead Space to buy this and my guess is you probably already own it. It was a nice gap between the first game and second.

Purchased this movie the day it came out last year because I already had the original and I wanted to see what would happen in this one. Just got the DVD version (no Blu-ray player at the time), but the other reviews on the Blu-ray one are pretty similar to mine. Aftermath starts where Downfall left off at. The survivors have been picked up and quarantined. As each of them are being interrogated, you get to see the original story from their point of view. This gives you a great portal into their mindset or way of thinking. Sadly, it does get a bit stale. The graphics change from each persons story which I found odd at first, but I ended up really enjoying it. The differing art styles do a very good job at showcasing just how different all of the survivors are. Solid voice acting in this one as well. Always nice when you don't have to turn on the Japanese dubs and read. Just like with Downfall, have a bit of cursing in here as well as a bit of nudity, too. Lots of horror, blood, and killing. Not for the kiddos. Pick this one up if you want to find out more of an in depth story compared to the first, but you're not missing much if you don't.

I would have to say, that fans of the first movie might be a little dissppointed with this one. Although, this move has a mix of 3D animation and 2D animation, there just isn't enough detail on the 3D scenes. This movie will satisfy regular fans for a while. But fans expecting the same experience fromt the first movie might feel different. All in all, this is still a good movie in order to know how Deadspace 2 story fits.
