This film comes from a period in the early 1970s where filmmakers were turning out urban thrillers that were very dark, gritty, even brutal. "Death Wish" is a premere example of this genre, an influential film that is definitely not for all tastes. But I am surprised and happy to see this released on Blu-ray with a SteelBook case.

I remember seeing this as a teenager, it was brutal I mean more than "Dirty Harry" brutal. A tour de force performance from Charles Bronson he should of won an Oscar for his performance. It's probably his greatest performance in his long career. Jeff Goldblume was brutal.

The original, they don't need to make a remake of one of the best Charles Bronson movies! You know the reason! Blue-ray is outstanding!

I just finished watching this blu-ray last night and reminded me how good of an actor Charles Bronson is. It is one of the first vigilante movies I can think of, if not the best. A long with "Dirty Harry" and "Taxi driver" it's one of the best of that era. It is also one of Bronson's best along with "Hard times".

Nice to finally get the 40th Anniversary blu-ray of Death Wish, movie still holds up even after 40 years. Charles Bronson in his heyday, an early appearance of Jeff Goldblum. Only caveat is for an anniversary edition it is a little light on the special features. Based on the strength of the movie itself it is highly recommended.

controversial when it was first released, one would assume that would soften over time, especially after it's far more over the top and violent sequels and quasi remakes. Yet, somehow this film still makes a very real impact. A real piece of seventies cinema.

I watched this on VHS at too young an age. The violence may seem unrealistic compared to current standards, but the topic remains salient as we continue to struggle with crime and the sense of powerlessness in fighting it and defending ourselves. For many, this is Charles Bronson's quintessential film and character.

Death Wish was very shocking when it first came out. It still has the same feel of horror and fear. Bronson plays the part so well, it is like he has been a vigilante all his life! don't miss this one!

Good movie Well told story arc showing Bronson's migration to vigilante Some of the acting is a little over the top For anyone who lived in NYC in the 70s - and 80s - a nice trip down memory lane
