I recently purchased the Dell G15 15.6" FHD 120Hz Gaming Laptop, and I am thoroughly impressed with its performance. This laptop is truly amazing, the performance this conputer offers is completely unbeatable. It comes with NVIDIA RTX 4050 grapchis card, which is better than the 3050 on the base model, it also offers more VRAM. Heat is the biggest downside of any operating machine, this laptop comes with an advance thermal cooling system, so the fans barley kick on, and when they do they actually sound very pleasant, not loud or annoying like a miniature vacuum cleaner. Download speeds are lightening fast as well as uploads, doing school work, and graphic designing or using any kind of 3D work shop will be a breeze for this PC to handle. The only reason this computer does not get 5 stars is becaue of the build quality, it feels very cheap and made from all plastic. The lid creaks when opening and closing and the keyboard is not as fun to use as an alienware from dell. Overall if you don’t care about build materials then this PC will be amazing, I highly recommend!!!!!

So far the laptop has worked exceptional and has exceeded my expectations. I haven’t really tried to run any huge games yet besides R6, but it still runs great on ultra settings. I upgraded the RAM from 8GB to 16GB with no issues what so ever. Anyone can upgrade it as there’s videos and what not online on how to do it. It takes not even 5 minutes. The only downside that people seem to be complaining about is that the keyboard isn’t RGB. It’s a dark orange backlit keyboard. It doesn’t bother me whatsoever though because I bought a separate keyboard and monitor anyway.

This machine does everything I want to do. I can play games, program development, and have plenty of windows open. I love the fact that it has an extra port for another M2 Drive . It's a little bit heavy, but I think the weight comes from the battery. The battery lasts quite a while though so it's a nice trade-off.

This G15 weighs in at 6+ pounds despite an all plastic chassis, and includes a colossal power brick. Under the hood is a 13th gen Core i7 processor, 8gb of DDR5 4800 RAM, 1TB NVMe drive, and an Nvidia RTX4050 GPU. Externally, it sports a crisp bright 15.6” 120Hz matte LED panel with good uniform lighting and no observable light bleed or clouding on dark backgrounds. The screen is not HDR compatible for gaming. The backlit keyboard includes a number pad and the reddish-orange hued backlighting matches the overall color theme and aesthetic. The trackpad is puny and swipes occasionally lag, even with adjusted sensitivity. I despised it after only a few minutes of use and switched to an external mouse. Onboard ports include one full-size HDMI, three USB-A, one DisplayPort compatible USB-C, one ethernet, and one 3.5mm audio. There are no onboard biometric devices. There is a webcam, but it isn’t Windows Hello compatible, lacks a privacy shutter, and the 720p resolution is low by today’s standards. Speakers sound passable and are useful in a pinch, but a headset or external speakers are preferred. Preinstalled software includes Dell management apps, McAfee security, McAfee Web Adviser and the usual Office 365 and other demos that Microsoft ships with all OEM copies of Windows Home. I left the Dell apps intact and uninstalled everything else. The G15 is capable of handling many recent AAA game titles but some of the more demanding games quickly push it to the brink at higher settings. The sweet spot for game quality settings seems to be medium to high for most of my games. Some can run at higher settings, but some others will only run error free on low. I’ve played several games in my library, including racers, shooters, and RPGs. My overall favorite game, FH5, launched automatically set to low. I ran the in-game benchmark to double-check and it confirmed low was the best setting for optimal performance. Gameplay is stable on low with frame rate locked at 60fps and only 35% GPU utilization. I did notice some controller input latency with both wired and wireless controllers. My car was sluggish to respond and felt like it was sliding on ice due to delayed braking and cornering. I also noticed sluggishness while using in-game menus. On the plus side, the gpu renders beautiful environments, and graphics look good even on the low setting. Out of curiosity, particularly since I was averaging under 50% GPU utilization, I bumped the graphics quality up to high, which required restarting the game. The game immediately displayed low system memory and poor network performance warnings on re-launch. I reverted quality back down to low and the errors disappeared. I didn’t bother trying to test the Ultra or Extreme settings after that experience. FH5 is a demanding game and I like to use it as a benchmark on new gaming machines because it usually exposes any underpowered components or bottlenecks fairly quickly. FH4 and two RPG themed shooters all played fine and mostly error free on higher settings. I did get a single low memory warning in FH4 but it hasn’t appeared again so far. My next step is to increase the RAM to 16gb or 32gb to see if it helps with the controller latency and low system memory warnings. Battery life is adequate and provides me a few hours of battery powered gaming when needed. Thermal management is good thanks to a robust air cooling system that provides great airflow and keeps the system cool even during intense gaming. There are large exhaust vents on the rear and smaller vents on each side. I haven’t detected any worrisome hot spots underneath the screen that I typically encounter on gaming laptops with rear exhaust. The highest measured temp around the rear fan vents with my IR gun was 128F. Cooling is not only efficient, but also relatively quiet most of the time. Dell equipped the G15 with several ways to manage thermals through the BIOS and the included Dell and Alienware apps. The fans never get disruptively loud, even while running at full speed. TLDR version: The G15 is a good mid-tier gaming laptop with robust air cooling. It ships with a sizable hard drive along with a solid CPU and GPU, but a smallish amount of upgradeable DDR5 RAM. It runs most newer and older games with no problem, but occasionally struggles with resource intensive newer games at higher quality settings. It has a crisp vivid screen with no observed artifacts, a decent backlit keyboard, a small trackpad, no fingerprint scanner, mediocre webcam, basic sound, and average battery life. It is a heavy laptop and has an enormous power brick.

We have several, older (IE nearing retirement) laptops in our household and one of them is a very old 17.3" gaming laptop that is almost 10yrs old and very large so the G15 seemed like an ideal fit to downsize a bit on weight and dimensions while offering a substantial upgrade in CPU and GPU performance. It seems Dell is going the minimalist route even with their gaming laptops. Years before, you would receive flashy, beautiful packaging, plenty of pack-ins that screamed "GAMER!", thick glossy manuals, bonus items and more but now? A plain, beige box with your power supply, power cord and laptop basically along with some pamphlet level literature. I don't dislike it as minimal packaging is more environmentally friendly but I do miss the days of exciting unboxings and cool little additions. My unit shipped with Dell BIOS V 1.07 which is the most current as of the posting of this review. First impressions: Holding the laptop, this is a thick laptop with some weight to it. Having used other brands and their 15.6" gaming laptop form factors, I was surprised at how heavy and big the Dell felt. It is built like a tank but clocks in at 6lbs 3.1oz. Even more surprising is the massive ~3lb+ w/cord 330w Dell PSU that has been in use for over a decade now with no refinements or reductions. It is the biggest OEM laptop PSU on the market. It is huge. This means the combined weight of the laptop and 330w PSU is ~9lbs 3.7oz. The keyboard is decent and solid to the touch but for some reason I could not get into a flow typing as readily quick as I normally do. I felt like the palm rest wasn't as deep as it could be for full palm support because of the mid spacing of the keyboard due to the large speaker grill. The backlighting is nice and even and clean to the eye. Due to the shorter palm rest, the trackpad is small. It is responsive and functional along with a solid and firm feel and good feedback but the overall size is smaller than many modern laptops provide. CPU: The Dell G15 has an Intel i7-13650hx which is more towards the upper middle/lower top end of Intel CPUs with 6 performance cores, 8 efficiency cores and twenty total threads. This is a very powerful CPU that will get the job done for just about everything you can throw at it. Running Cinebench R23, I'm sorry to say but the unit immediately (and I do mean immediately) thermal throttled with temps shooting to 100c+. This is shown in its score of 19465 which is well off from the average of ~21000. While single core scores did land right where they should on average at 1858, the laptop again spiked to 100c+ while performing even a single threaded run. This will become a theme with the G15 as it runs hot. For those who are wondering, you can use something like Throttlestop to undervolt it and at least get the CPU to run a bit cooler. GPU: The Nvidia RTX 4050 comes equipped with 6GB of memory and while that may seem a bit anemic with all the hype around VRAM, it pairs perfectly with the 4050 as you will need to dial down graphic details anyhow in many modern games from max/ultra to more realistic medium settings. This laptop is not aimed at full ultra details 1080p gaming. Achieving a score of 8537 in Timespy GPU, you are looking at roughly RTX 3060 desktop / mobile performance. It appears that Dell is using a ~110w variant of the 4050. Temps overall were ok but the memory did get quite warm peaking at 94c. Even running Time Spy, the CPU test had the CPU hitting 100c and throttling. It plays Fallout76 quite well along with World of Warcraft Dragonflight. I was able to turn RT on and with medium settings achieve solid frames. Again, even World of Warcraft had the CPU pegged at 100c. As this is the newest and greatest RTX 4000 series, you do gain access to not only DLSS but Frame Generation which can really boost frames in many titles. Cooling and fan noise: The fans do cycle up lightly during even light usage depending on what you're doing. Any type of meaningful tasks and they will definitely spin up and while gaming they are usually audible and front and center. I've heard much louder and obtrusive fan noise from other makers while gaming but still headphones will work the best. As noted, the CPU will shoot to 100c regularly under any type of meaningful load including games as World of Warcraft quickly hit 100c. This doesn't detract from the gaming capabilities of the Dell G15 but due to its very hot running nature, fan noise is unavoidable in most scenarios. Memory and Storage: With modern day requirements, I do not know why Dell didn't include 16GB as the base memory. Not only is 16GB the near bare minimum for most modern games but a single stick of 8GB DDR5 forces the laptop to run in single channel mode cutting into performance and making even some desktop usage stuttery and chunky. Running with only a single stick of 8GB will introduce stuttering in spots and overall worse framerates especially 1% and .01% lows. The first thing most buyers should do is upgrade at least to another stick of 8GB memory for double the capacity to 16GB total and to enable dual channel memory support at the very least. A full upgrade to 32GB is even better. For those who monitor such things, the latency is a bit high (~88ns) but does not impede the excellent performance of this laptop. What's more important is due to the single channel nature of a single memory stick, bandwidth is under 40000MB/sec when it should be well above 60000MB/sec or even 70000MB/sec. Seriously, a memory upgrade is a major priority. The NVME SSD is not as fast as some other laptops I've used and does not achieve gen4 top end speeds of 7000+ topping out around ~5000. More worrysome again is the NVME drive overheated during some tests with the drive hitting 82c and the controller 105c resulting in some late stage throttling in speeds. Battery Life: Battery life on a gaming laptop is usually poor at best and the Dell fits right into that catagory.. Gaming on battery will be limited and even using it unplugged to monitor a few Pi projects on a desk, balanced mode, I was down to 50% in less than 2hrs. Display and speaker quality: I really like the display. It has good, neutral colors and is a solid gaming display. Is it on par with a top end mobile display? No, but it is definitely above average. The speaker quality is definitely above average with good projection and even a *tiny* touch of warmth and bass. Webcam: I did a couple of calls using the webcam compared to my desktop and logitech webcam and the caller on the other end definitely could not only note the poorer quality but the drop in sound quality too. It's basically your standard laptop webcam. It will most certainly get the job done as I hosted a couple of calls for well over an hour no problem but if you seek top notch sound pick up and image quality, you will need to get an external unit. Do I like it: While Dell G15 is on the larger side for a budget gaming laptop, it is smaller than the laptop it is replacing so that's a win. What I do like is the solid construction and very good CPU and GPU performance especially since it is a 4000 series GPU so DLSS and Frame Generation are in play. The display is very nice too. What I don't like is the overheating of the CPU and SSD causing them to not perform as well as they could. SSD performance is average and including only 8GB of single channel memory basically makes upgrading it near mandatory for many reasons. The PSU is ginormous. But overall? I like it especially when it goes on sale which is frequent. For the price, it can't be beat. I'd have no problems using this in school, coffee shop or elsewhere.

The Dell G15 15.6” FHD gaming laptop is heavier than I would expect and thicker than I usually like in my laptops, I think their G15 line of gaming laptops is not designed with portability in mind and combine that with the largest power brick that I have ever seen come with a laptop (nearly 3lbs) and it just feels like this is meant to stay put on a desk somewhere. The overall specs of an Intel i7 Core processor, 8GB of RAM, 1920x1080 FHD 120Hz LED display, 1TB NVMe M.2 drive, and GeForce RTX 4050 6GB GDDR6 RAM is respectable, but not the top of the line. Don’t expect to play the latest AAA shooter with Ultra graphics at 60FPS. Older titles such at TitanFall II, this can easily handle though. Still this, in my opinion, is geared more towards the casual gamer who won’t really pack it up daily in a backpack. The laptop and power brick weigh nearly 9lbs total. Setting up was fast and easy via the typical Windows 11 set up and I had no issues with that, attach it to my Wi-Fi6 network (802.11AX is supported) and it finished up the updates in no time. The built in 720p web camera is nice to have, but it won’t win any clarity awards, but is acceptable for Teams meetings or video chatting with friends and family. The overall dark shadow gray with backlit dark gray/orange keys is a nice touch I think and there is a texture to the dark gray plastic that has a good feel and the orange G logo on the side is a nice addition. The 13th Generation Intel Core i7 is a fine chipset and seems to handle pretty much anything that I can throw at it. The Nvidia GeForce RTX 4050 has 6GB of GDDR6 memory. I wish it had more, but these low power laptop powered graphics cards still lag their desktop counterparts. The 120Hz 1920x1080 FHD screen is clean, sharp, bright, and crisp and I think this is one of the best features of this laptop. Inside you will find a 1TB m.2 drive without the option to add a second internal drive so if you plan on using this for some high-end AAA games, you will need an external drive since those will fill up your drive fast. You do have the ability to add a second DDR5 RAM stick in the unit as there is a free slot. This laptop really should have come with 16 GB total, but you can easily add another 8GB for not a lot of money. There are not a lot of ports on this so if you have a lot of devices to plug in, you may need a hub of some sort. There are two USB Type A (3.2) Super Speed ports on one side, a Type C SS (DP also) port, and a third Type A (3.2), and HDMI 2.1 on the back and finally the Ethernet and Headphone jack on the right side. The 330-Watt power supply is plugged into the back as well and I like that it is out of the way. There are two speakers placed on each side of the keyboard that face outwards. They sound decent, but I wasn’t that impressed with them. There is a small trackpad that works well, and I have no complaints about that except I wish is was a little larger. The backlit keyboard has good spacing and a full 10-key on the right side where you would expect it to be and typing on this is a very good experience for me. Battery life has been ok so far as I have averaged about 4.0 hours or so on a single charge while gaming and 6 or more hours with just normal usage. Overall, this is a good laptop for the money and the gaming performance is right where you would expect it to be, nothing high end, but good enough to play Battlefield 2042 on medium settings with 60 FPS and no lag. Cranked at Max and Ultra settings, it does lag, and I was only able to achieve 22 FPS.

Excellent PC for gaming and design. I used with programs like Autocad 2024 and games like Forza 2024. Is incredible your performance and the fans only work a few seconds because don't reach a high temperature. 100% recommend.

The laptop is great. the best gaming device I have ever had. Nice performance, screen, cooling system. Now I'm connecting it to a 27inches monitor and the effect is much better than the integrated graphic card laptop. So much satisfied.

If you're like me and want something to play games on it, similar to how you'd treat a game console, then this is FAN-Freaking-TASTIC. I don't anticipate needing this as a laptop for travel on a regular basis. It games quite well, stays quiet and cool and has a decent screen to boot. I brought it over to a friends house for a "LAN" party, which we just played Call of Duty online, but in the same room, and it was a blast. I had a power brick, controller, and a laptop all in a single bag. My other friends had to bring a monitor, game console, power cords, video cords, controllers, and headsets. Not to mention my one friend who brought his entire computer and all the things associated with that decision. Basically I enjoyed it's portability enough, and appreciate the design to allow for better cooling. I was able to play Cyberpunk, Call of Duty, and really any game I had in my Steam library without any real issue at medium settings and I was able to push some games to high and even ultra in some older titles. I LOVE the keyboard, it's so good to type on. The only real downsides to this laptop is the trackpad size, battery life, bulk, and underwhelming speakers. I wish it was a little sleaker, had a more premium look, and better sound. I also don't think the power brick needs to be as large as it is, but considering the draining speed it charges pretty darn quick, so not a bad trade off really. 8 GBs of RAM is kind of low, but I don't imagine it being a big deal to upgrade. Overall, my experience has been good, and I think it's a good product. It's a decent performer. I would recommend this to a friend any day.

Great laptop for casual, and some competitive gaming. The 330 watt charger included charges the laptop really quickly as well.
