I love this laptop, it’s so good to be able to have the 2 in 1 because it it touch and you can flip the keyboard to the back. I really love the size of it and how fast it is. I switch from an apple laptop and this has been a game changer in how great it is to work and friendly with many softwares I use for my side hustles and just daily things in general.

One of my best laptop, with 2-in-1 design is convenient to use as tab but battery life is not as expected, biggest advantage I was able to upgrade to 1 TB SSD and RAM to 20 GB original 8 GB added 16GB wolla works super fast beast I am not gamer but Adobe apps whoosh superb, if you have old Mac keyboard wolla works as well

It has been long time and I still feel I got a new laptop. This is a kind of product you would never regrete for buying it. Screan quality, fast connectivity, fast processor, etc.

I love this laptop! Light and easy to use. The handles used to turn the computer seem strong and the backlit keyboard works at night without becoming annoying. In tablet mode (when the keyboard is folded completely, you can either use the laptop vertically or horizontally, which I find quite useful. It is faster than what I would have expected and it's easy to multitask in it. I mostly use it for my college assignments and it works really well for me.

The Dell Inspiron 5000 is geared for office professionals, students and the folks who wants a fast premium feeling laptop that is affordable. It is a 2-in-1 convertible touchscreen laptop with optional support for an active stylus pen and powered by Intel’s latest 11th generation CPU that is speedy. BECHMARKS Geekbench 5 (Single-Core) 1271 Geekbench 5 (Multi-Core) 4181 PCMARKS 10 4474 GAMING Fornite (Med) 72 AVG FPS Bioshock Remastered (Med) 64 AVG FPS Build quality wise; case has a metal looking finish that has a good grip while holding. The aluminum top lid is sturdy and has a solid feeling, while the rest is plastic, laptop is built strong with minimal flex on its body. Hinges are rigid and built to last. This is a good combination that keeps it lightweight but sturdy at 3.5 lbs. In summary, this is just a very well-built device that should provide long term durability. Typing experience is good with decent travel and has a clicky feedback. Hands are comfortable while resting on aluminum keyboard that shows no flex during typing. The keyboard has a fingerprint on power button that quickly logs you in. It also has an adjustable backlight on keys. Trackpad is large (I prefer a large trackpad) with good response on gestures and scrolling, trackpad feels like glass but cannot confirm this? Display is a FHD (1920x1080) IPS glossy touch screen at 60Hz with Wide Viewing Angle technology, 157 PPI, 212 nits in brightness. Does not have a wide color gamut but some color options can be adjusted with the Ceinma Color program. Display has 64% sRGB and supports stylus pen that is not included. (PN350M) I like a matte screen versus a glossy one due to the reflections and glare that glossy screens produce in bright environment. Also, the LCD is a little too dim in brightness for my taste but would be fine for others who are indoors with normal lighting situations. With all that said, screen is sharp (slightly above average) and colors look good on pics, web sites and videos. General users will find the screen just fine while photographers, content creators would want a color accurate screen. The display cover will prop up keyboard section slightly in laptop mode for better typing experience and air flow. Laptop performance is smooth and snappy with the 11th gen CPU, fast 512GB NVMe M.2 SSD and 8GB DDR4 3200 MHz RAM for most on general functions like web browsing, office logistics and even some light gaming. The device is upgradable with 2 ram slots (no soldered ram Wohoo!) but only one M.2 SSD slot. Current ram configuration is 4GB in each slot for a dual channel setup. (fastest setup) Power users may consider upgrading to the max 16GB of ram or a more budget friendly option of just 12GB by just adding an 8GB module to support heaver multitasking. Boot time is sec’s and the fact this laptop can handle these tasks with ease makes it a solid performer in this class. Another nice thing is that the integrated Intel® Iris® Xe Graphics can do some gaming on lower settings is a bonus for occasional gamers. During normal laptop usage it does not get too warm and remains quiet but does get hot under load but tolerable with louder fan noise. On ports you get 2 USB 3.2 Gen 1 ports, 1 USB-C USB 3.2 Gen 2 port with Power Delivery + DisplayPort, 1 headset (headphone and microphone combo) port, 1 HDMI 1.4a port and 1 microSD-card slot. The webcam delivers a 720p resolution for video calls and has a privacy cover switch. Webcam is pretty much just average but does the job for my needs. Sound actually gets loud on these small bottom firing speakers stay crisp at max level. Overall sound quality is very good. I managed to get 6.27 hours of battery life on 54 Wh, 4-cell battery and 50% brightness with mix usage of browsing, videos and editing documents.

Overall, I am very impressed with this laptop. Here is a quick pros/cons list before I go into detail. PROS - Thin, sleek, and reasonably lightweight - Nice sized keyboard - keys are a standard size and have a decent amount of travel and pressure required so that typing is satisfying without accidentally triggering unintended keystrokes. - Sharp, vivid screen with full 1080p resolution. At a 14 inch screen size, this makes for a crystal-clear picture. - Excellent backlighting. With 2 levels of backlight (and an off option), the keys are easy to see in low light without being so bright as to distract from looking at the screen. Keys are also evenly lit so that you can easily identify the key in minimal light. - Nice color - if you're tired of dark gray or black laptops like I am, this is nice shade of gray/silver that gives a look of quality even though it has a plastic case. - Great battery life! - Upgradeability - both memory and storage are upgradeable CONS - The screen bezel is small, but is surprising wide compared to other laptops I've see in this class. - The screen is reflective. This contributes to a clear, bright image, but is highly reflective and can a problem in the wrong lighting conditions, such as having an overhead light or a lamp behind you. - Power connector - this laptop has a dedicated connector for power, but came with a USB-C cable. This means if I want to use the USB-C port for something like storage devices, I can't connect the laptop to power unless I have a hub or dongle that can carry power, or I have to buy a new power connector. - While upgradeable, the memory configuration is x2 4GB DIMMS, so you will have to replace both to take it to the max of 16 GB. - No number pad on the keyboard. This is standard for a 14 inch laptop, but if you need a number pad for data entry and don't want to have to use an external one, start your search with a minimum 15 inch laptop. PERFORMANCE Whenever I begin using a new computer, I like to test it's limits in terms of performance when I have a lot of apps open. This will quickly let me decide whether the computer can keep up with my more extreme use cases. This laptop has the following specs: - 11th Gen Intel i5 Processor - 8GB of memory - 512 GB of storage (kudos to Dell for providing 512 GB in this model! 256 is a common cost-savings for computer manufacturers, and it just isn't enough storage for most users, especially Windows users, considering the amount of hard drive space Windows takes and how poor performance becomes when you start reaching the limits of that space) I tend to feel limited when I only have 8 GB of memory, since I can often have 10 different apps running at the same time when I am working. To test this, I installed (or activated) some of my most commonly used software: - Google Chrome (with 12 tabs open, with streaming video in one) - Affinity Photo, Designer, and Publisher (with a file open in each) - Microsoft Word and Excel I also launched - Notepad - Microsoft Solitaire - Dell Support App This took my my memory usage up to around 85%. I continued to work like this for a while, and not once did the computer so much as hiccup. I was really impressed that I can switch between the apps frequently and never have to wait for the app to catch up. BATTERY The battery life has also been impressive. I had the screen brightness at 2 notches down from full brightness. I charged up the battery as full as I could (oddly, it would not charge up to 100%, but stopped at 99%, continually saying 2 minutes until full charge). I then ran only on battery power while I configured some Windows settings, installed all of my software and applied updates to it, launched all of the above programs, and then worked on it for a while. In total, almost 4 hours, and the batter is at 48%. At least if I need that USB-C port for something other than charging, the computer will keep going for a while. A few times, especially while installing software, the fan spun up, but was very soft and not easily heard. The bottom did get warm, and could be uncomfortable in the summer on your lap. However, it did not get hot, so no fear of burning myself or being really uncomfortably if it sat on my lap for too long. Even with this, the battery kept going. AUDIO The speakers are on the bottom of the laptop, near the left and right edges. Normally this would get a big thumbs-down from me, since this immediately degrades the quality. While they are not the quality of an good external set of speakers, these sound really good and are surprisingly loud. Even at a level of 25, they were plenty loud for me. I watched a couple of YouTube music videos and was surprised at some of the clarity in the music, such as being able to distinguish different voices in a chorus line. QUIRKS There are a couple of quirks that I noticed with this laptop. First, the touchpad is VERY sensitive. Even when I turned the sensitivity as low as it would go, I found myself accidentally touching the trackpad with the slightest touch and causing a mouse click. I didn't seem to activate it with my palm while typing, but unintentionally (barely) tapping it at other times triggered a mouse click far too easily. The same with the touch screen. Every time I would adjust the angle of the screen (due to changing light conditions in the room on a partly sunny day), I would touch the screen even while trying not to. In testing this further, it is VERY sensitive. If using this laptop as a tablet, or even just using the touchscreen as part of your normal usage, you may find your self lifting your finger a little further from it every time you tap, making the usage a little bit more labored. Finally, the fingerprint reader on the power button is a nice feature. However, it seemed to work really well the first couple of times, but after that, it failed the first time I would try, almost every time. I'm not sure if that was my own finger or an issue with the reader. It's still faster than typing my password, so it wasn't a major concern for me. OVERALL This is a fantastic laptop for most use cases. At only 8 GB of memory, power users may find themselves wanting to upgrade quickly, but it operates surprisingly well even with that limit. The 2-in-1 feature means you can use this laptop in a variety of ways, but be aware of the super-sensitive touchscreen. The hardware performs well and is a great school laptop because of it's small size and portability, but if hooked up to an external monitor (for those that prefer large screens), this laptop performs very well and will meet your needs even if you tend to push its limits.

First impression of the Dell Inspiron 5000 2-in-1 wasn’t that great. I like it when a manufacturer designs a nice carton for it. Dell sent it in a brown box with a basic lip. Nothing very exciting and not great for storing the unit. That said, it’s just a box, so it’ll do. I unboxed the laptop and it included the PC, power brick (nice and small), and the 110v cord. A couple of small documents and that’s it. So, I go to fire it up and it’s dead. I plug it in, and it fires right up. Set up is a bit more than just Windows start. You can set up the finger reader (located on the power button). It takes many taps, then a bunch more to get it done. Once I finally get to the desktop, I must update Dell’s software. That takes forever…many minutes. Then it wants a reboot. I need to install antivirus software and not that McAfee suite they included. That gets deleted asap. So, I use my last Bullguard key, and it too needs a reboot. I restart the machine and Dell automatically is doing a firmware update. It takes some runs through the green line gauge before it finishes and reboots itself again. Once again, I’m at the desktop, so the next step is to remove any unwanted programs. Not too many, as stated McAfee, Office since I already have a key and Groove. Why is that still installed? Didn’t Microsoft kill it a year or so ago??? At least Windows lets you delete it easily. Oh, wait! I opened the Microsoft store and did updates after deleting Groove Music and it updated. So, I ask myself and Google why. Reviewing this laptop taught me something new. Groove Music is now a music player…who knew? And then it’s time to check Windows Update. You guessed it, a ton of downloads. I finally get those downloaded and installed, reboot and after forever, the splash screen appears, and my fingertip works with the login. Tada, 2 hours later, no new updates, Dell’s software is up to date and my antivirus is good. Now to take a break and come back in a while and test out the touch screen, the 2-in-1 flip top, and how well the I5 with 8GB of ram does. Stay tuned or read on if you’re not joining me on my break! I got to back up for just a sec and say I enjoy the fingerprint login. It just works! Now the PC. Love the touchscreen. I’m not one for fingerprints all over my screen, but for some tasks, having a touch screen just makes for a better experience, as does the backlit keyboard. I went to add an SD card and saw there wasn’t a slot. Really…oh wait, there’s a micro-SD slot on the right side. I take a look at my card and woohoo, it’s a micro-SD inserted in an adapter. I like the micro-SD better since it doesn’t hang out of the case like the SD card did on my other laptop. Next, I try out the USBc port. Is it Thunderbolt 3/4? I plug in a Belkin hub, and I get the warning, the hub might be limited. So, I go online to see, and the 14 Dell Inspiron laptop seems to have it, but the 2-in-1 doesn’t. It is limited to 5Gbps, so that’s a bummer. Up next is the monitor. It looks great and the touch screen doesn’t seem to have any lag. The colors are nice and vivid. Then there’s audio. For a laptop, it sounds great. It would be great if the volume could be a bit louder. I was testing it on the carpet, and it was too low. I moved to a table, and it was nice and clear, but still a bit on the low side. Yes, I did check to see if I had the volume turned up all the way. Using headphones, the sound was a bit louder, but still under what I prefer when listening to a movie or music. As with most laptops, the lack of bass is apparent, but not to the point that you wouldn’t want to listen to a bunch of songs or videos. It is good enough and better than a lot of other laptops I’ve used. It does have software called MaxxAudioPro but opening the software didn’t seem to have many options, except for setting up 3d listening in headphones. Well, overall, it’s a great 14”, 2-in-1 PC. It offers several ways to view it including the basic laptop mode, tent, tablet, or stand (kiosk) viewing mode. The sound is more than adequate for hours of listening/viewing and the speed of the Intel I5 processor is a pleasure to use. The weight is a tad under 3.5 lbs., so lugging/toting it around isn’t too bad. Oh, and I forgot to mention it has a camera lens cover for privacy. You probably won’t see it, but if you feel the top edge of the glass, left of the lens, there’s a tab that slides back and forth. Nice! If I have any cons, it would be storage size, but that can be fixed and the lack of a Thunderbolt port. Having one would allow me to add a LAN/nic port for wired internet. I know some hubs will work, but I happen to have a Thunderbolt 3 hub that would have fit the bill without spending a bit of cash. I’d recommend the PC/laptop to anyone looking for a lightweight portable computer that has the power to get the job done. Whether it’s gaming, business, personal, or schoolwork, I think it’s up to the task.

If you are a student in computer/technology fleid in general this is the 2n1 for you. Super fast. The only thing is the battery life could be better mine stays plugged.

This is a very compact and practical Windows laptop geared towards everyday use. Upgrading from an older 15" Dell Inspirion, this laptop is slightly shorter. The 14" screen, with a resolution of 1920x1080 (16:9 HD) doesn't have a big frame like other computers so the screen takes most of the top cover, with relatively thin bezels around it. Because of that, it's shorter than most laptops making it easier to carry, it just feels better holding it in one hand, and fits better in a backpack. The shell is all metal, with a light aluminum finish on the top and the bottom (keyboard) part of darker aluminum, with the bottom cover also in light aluminum finish. Overall it looks great. The keyboard has nice depth, and is dark grey (instead of silver or black as usual). The top right key is actually the power button and fingerprint sensor. The fingerprint sensor accepts one finger and it works very well. The laptop turns itself upon opening the lid and loads Windows 10 very fast. Powered off, takes less than 20 seconds to be logged in with the fingerprint, so it's very fast for windows. Much faster if it was sleep, not powered off. 8 GB RAM, 11th Gen i5 and a fast SSD makes it a quick laptop for daily use. While the embedded video (Intel Iris Xe) works well for office work and light gaming, the embedded video is much better than it was a few years ago. Power is via USB-C, comes with a 65W charger, and also has a barrel-type connector that has been in use in other Dell laptops for years. Connectors: Left: - (Barrel type) power connector - HDMI ver 1.4 - USB 3 type A (Standard) - USB-C Right: - Headphones / Mic 3.5 mm connector - USB 3 type A - Micro SD card reader (Like in some Android phones). The camera is 720p, and works acceptably well in low-light. There is an actual shutter between the camera and the front glass, with tiny, almost invisible slider on top of the glass. It's mechanical, not electronic, so the camera is still on while the shutter is on. Also, keep in mind this is a 2-in-one, meaning the hinges folds fully so the screen can be used as a tablet. In this mode, the keyboard is disabled and one can use the touchscreen keyboard. It appears to accept a Windows-compatible stylus pen, which I expect to get soon. Windows detects it's in tablet mode and the windows bar changes accordingly. It also detects orientation so it can be used horizontally or vertically or upside-down, as an A-Frame. Another nice feature is that the hinges arch backwards when the lid is on, so it vents better from the bottom cover being more quiet. What I do not like about this laptop is that is has only one USB-C connector that's also used for power, so consider also carrying a portable dock so it can be powered on and use USB-C for data or to connect to a monitor. Also, while mane devices with Intel 11th gen CPU, like this, have a newer USB4/Thunderbolt connector, this still carries a single USB-C 3, limiting it from using higher-end storage or using it with an external video card, so this limits it somewhat. I'm able to use it with an external monitor, and charge it at the same time, and use a wired gigabit ethernet using a portable USB-C dock, but it did not recognize the Thunderbolt dock I have on a work setup. Wi-Fi is type Wi-Fi 6 (AX) and measured 200 Mbps upload and download, while getting gigabit through an ethernet USB-C dock, on the same network. The initial setup was fairly quick and straightforward with Windows 10, except it has to reboot countless times between the initial setup and all the required software updates and Dell firmware upgrades as well, but this is no different than any other Windows 10 setup. It comes with a bunch of Dell utility tools and thankfully not much in term of 'bundled' software except for McAfee that I had to remove after initial setup, and did not prompt me if I wanted it. This and another Dell advertisement tool, it came without any other unwanted software. Although I particularly much preferred it came with a Thunderbolt port, this is a good, reliable laptop and really like the narrower form-factor and that the screen covers most of the frame without large bezels like on previous models. It's much improved from previous generations of Inspirion laptops.

Great Efficient Fast Smooth typing Love the touchscreen

I was in the market for a nice 2-in-1 computer for home use and elementary school children use on assignments. Overall this is a great capable machine. The 512GB SSD is good for what we need and the 8 GB RAM is more than sufficient for basic word and excel documents as well as storage for family pictures. It was easy to connect Wi-Fi and has the latest protocol which allows for easier connections. Likes: 2-in-1 capabilities, great to sit on the couch as use as a touch screen, but also has the ability to be a “work” computer for the kids. Light, compact for easy transportation, easily handled by 4th grade daughter. Touch screen Easy to connect Wifi capabilities Adequate sound Built in Alexa – favorite of the kids! Dislikes:This computer gets really hot Difficulty running some games due to stock graphics cards, although expected No thunderbolt connection Front camera is ok, but definitely not great Battery like is ok, could be better All in all for what I use this machine for it is pretty solid. Easy to use, light, and does everything better an average. Its mid-range place allows me peace of mind when the kids are using it and it can handle most tasks we throw at over. Its 2-in-1 capabilities allows for easy work access as well as lounge time on the couch.

This is my personal laptop and only used at night for doing online excise mostly. Right after a year the connection of monitor & keypad on the right side fell apart. They became two parts. A few days ago, the same thing happened to the left side too. Now I have to put a support on back of monitor to make it stand up. I brought back to store in Nashua NH to find if it can be fixed. Both store manager and a Geek technician were helpless. Very disappointed for this product and store serveries.

Not matter what laptop you get, the 2-in-1 format is the best in my opinion for a sub 15.6” screen size. 15.6” or larger I’m sure is good too, but portability and versatility is not the purpose for something of that size. The 2-in-1 allows you to put the screen in the position that you want it, especially when sitting/standing position changes. Tablet mode for me is not something I use often. With the keys underneath, it's just awkward to get comfortable and honestly just worried I’d break something...but that is my take. I’ve been a long time user of the Netbook/Ultrabook platform and the thinning bezels and continued development to compact the size going from a 13.3” to a 14” feels the same. Comparing weight to my previous 2-in-1 13.3” Yoga @ 2.9lbs, the Dell Inspiron 14 2-in-1 only comes in at 3.22lbs hardly noticeable in real world use and barely noticeable on the scales...just over 5oz difference in weight and awesome gains in screen real estate. Focusing in on the Inspiron 14 there are some definite design choices I am loving and few I am scratching my head over. Pros: -NO SHARP EDGES!! The palm rest area edge is rolled under to mee the bottom cover plate and makes for a very nice, no fatigue, wrest on the wrists. -Increased Screen size = bigger track pad, and ability to make the standard zoom size setting smaller. On a 15.6” default is 100% zoom for FHD. On a 13.3” it is set at 150%. Dell choose to default at 150% on the Inspiron but the 125% setup gives a bit more screen space for windows. 100% is possible, but does make things quite small so you may find yourself squinting a bit. On my previous 13.3”, 100% was not an option. -Screen acts as a raised bevel when using on a table to give a better keyboard reach -Finger Reader works great! -Great sound from the speakers -Screen brightness is great and very sharp image -CAMERA Security!!! Proof you don't need a thick screen to include a privacy slide. That deserves a Ding Dong!! Head Scratchers -Charger...in the box and POORLY packaged, is a 65W USB-C charger. However, the Inspiron can accept a proprietary Dell charger that can offer faster charger times and the BestBuy page talks about a fast charge option, but that cannot be found with the included charger. -the USB-C port is a good position, but when having to use it for charging port, you now lose access to it and it then makes it tricky to use the USB 3.2 port. There is another one on the right side though. HDMI port is still easy to access. -Headphone jack. My guess is for symmetry, but the headphone jack on the right side is at the back/behind the USB-Port. So again it makes it awkward when using plugged in headphones at cord will drape across your hands. -Software/Bloatware: Dell likes its redundant software and bloatware. Redundancy in that there are 3 apps that all check for product updates, but each do something extra. So why not just combine the experience into one? -Two Tone chassis color. Aluminum Silver on top and a light Graphite on bottom. Doesn't do it for me. Dell has a sweet spot in my life as it was my first PC purchase way back in 2000. I’ve always found my way back to the brand and have never been disappointed with the build quality and longevity of their devices. The XPS line has always been a device I have coveted, but just out of reach with the price. The Inspirion line has greatly made a leap forward in this 5000 series and I can see this lasting me quite a long time. I didn’t comment much on the hardware specs as I am still putting this through its paces. Real world use, everything is going great. I haven’t done any minor video editing yet, but I don’t think I have any issues. Everything seems to be very smooth and snappy. The iRIS Xe Graphics is definitely helping there is a 4x times improvement over the traditional Intel 620UHD graphics that have been standard for quite some time. The only better at this point are laptops with dedicated graphic cards with dedicated RAM. Last comment is more of a recommendation because of the increased trackpad size. I had to turn off the Windows 10 3-finger swipe gesture as I found my palm kept touching the trackpad when 2-finger scrolling and would take me to the desktop which is default for the gesture. That can be changed, but I just assume turn it off since I was activating the gesture a lot. I docked 1 Star because of the Charger packaging, BestBuy product page stating faster charging features that are not accessible, and redundant software and bloatware. The issues I have with port placement don't really factor because if there is a different charger being used then the USB-C port is open. I couldn't find an accessory for it on Dell's page, but I didn't take that long either. I can definitely recommend this laptop!

Was fine when we bought it. After almost 2 years it broke when i opened the screen. I opened it normally and one of the hinges failed and broke through the screen. Apparently not very well made. Only a one year warranty and repair would be close to 300 hopefully if you buy one you get more use than i did

I love this laptop. I can’t think of anything negative to say about it. It has a touchscreen which is great for me because I’m not a big fan of laptop touchpads. I usually use a mouse with a laptop. I can use this one without carrying a mouse around with me. The screen seems to be smudge resistant because even after touching it quite a bit, there aren’t a lot of fingerprints to clean off. The top can be folded over and used like a tablet. That feature is interesting, and I’m not sure how often I will use it that way. It’s an odd feeling to pick it up and feel/press the keys that are now underneath. But I found that when holding it vs. sitting it on a surface, it was easier to hold the one piece than it was to balance the open laptop. The benefit of the tablet configuration is that the screen angle adjustment is limitless - anywhere from 0 to 180 degrees. The keyboard has a nice feel to it and is easy to type on. The screen is almost edge to edge. The display is very crisp and sharp. Blacks are dark. Movies are as clear as they are on my 27 inch PC monitor. The sound is not excellent, but it is good. It didn’t sound tinny and grate on my nerves. The battery life icon shows a 10 hour battery life when fully charged. It shows the actual % of life that is left on the battery which I found useful. It’s a good size for carrying and not too heavy. The silver color makes it look classy and the surface doesn’t show fingerprints. Couldn’t ask for a better laptop!

The screen came away at the hinge after a year and a half. The warranty is 1 year.

Great for my needs. Only downside for me is adjusting to a smaller keyboard but I overcame that minor obstacle by connecting my old keyboard.
