I bought this computer in July 2024. It was out of necessity since my current computer was a Windows 10 machine. Ordering it and picking it up was painless, and the price was very good in my opinion, in spite of some of its non-generic features (power supply being one example). I have several Dell computers (one running Win 7 and 2 running Win 10) that are still working, so I've had good luck with Dell computers. I won't regurgitate all the specs, since they are spelled out. The computer is pretty fast, booting up quickly (since it has an NVME drive). There are actually 2 spaces for NVME drives, so if you want to add another one, you can. In addition, the m2 screw needed to mount an additional drive is already there, so if you buy an additional NVME drive, you won't have to worry about buying an m2 screw. That was a pleasant surprise. Cloning the original hard drive was a problem because the Dell drive is encrypted. Up until now I was unaware of that new feature. So, I had to learn how to unencrypt the drive before cloning it. In addition, after unencrypting the drive, you have to restart you computer (in my case). I had bought a Samsung EVO 990 (not the Pro series) NVME to act as a back up cloned drive in the event the Dell drive failed. Samsung uses Magician software, and even though I unencrypted the drive the Magician Software kept telling me it was unable to clone an encrypted drive. The key was to unencrypt the drive, then restart the computer. After that, the Magician software was able to clone the source drive. After cloning the source drive, I re-encrypted it. The most annoying thing occurred when the computer went to sleep (either I put it to sleep or it went to sleep after a period of keyboard inactivity.) Sometimes waking the computer up was no problem. For some reason, at other times, I was unable to wake it up and had to restart the computer. I finally contacted Dell Support and they were able to make a few adjustments (that I did not understand) that ameliorated the problem. Taking the left side cover off to expose the contents was also a challenge. You have to loosen one screw at the top, then press/pull a lever to release it, then you can remove the left panel to expose the inards. This computer has 2 slots for memory, and so there are 2 8GB memory modules for a total of 16GB. If you want 32 GB, you will have to buy 2 16 GB modules. As mentioned, this computer can accomodate 2 NVME drives, and the M2 screw to accomodate a second drive was already there. (many people who bought NVME drives were disappointed that the drive did not include the m2 screw). Another pleasant surprise was the presence of 2 internal bays for 3.5 drives, with data and power cables. The Dell drive that came with the computer is a KXG80ZNV1T02 NVMe KIOXA 1024 GB NVME. Read/write speeds were 6000 and 5000 MBPS as per Magician software measurements. There are lots of USB slots for my mouse, keyboard, printers. I can have 2 monitors, and when I initially hooked them up, when moving the mouse to the right the cursor would not go to the right monitor, but to the left monitor. You must set up your monitors in the Windows setting to correct this if this happens. I've enclosed a picture of the inside of the computer. You can see the 2 internal drive bays, and if you look closer, you can see the 2 NVME drives as well as the 2 memory modules.

Really fast and reliable. I needed it to replace my old computer. I got 3 of them. They are working as of now. I got them about 3 months ago. I got it for about eleven hundred. I did a research and for the price, it met my need.

Works fine so far. Not heavy. But I plugged in the wired keyboard that does not have a backlight and wired mouse. So now add on about $200 have a highway decent wireless keyboard and mouse. So it really is $300.00 more. I am very disappointed with Dell. I can see a wired keyboard and mouse but no backlight????

If you plan to use this computer for basic things like browsing or word processing, perhaps it will work for you. I'm trying to use it as a multimedia workstation, but the DPC latency is so bad that I can't. Dell support, though very friendly and accessible, couldn't begin to help me either—the experience was almost comical. I now have an expensive paperweight.

We bought 2 of these to replace older XPS desktop that would not upgrade to Windows 11. These are quiet, powerful, fast, and reliable.

Seems to be a very good computer. Well built. Cleanly designed. Has a lot of USB ports (9 of them) which is handy for me as I have cameras and other devices each with their own cable. I can leave each cable plugged in permanently.

The Dell XPS 8960 is fast, quiet, and reliable. I couldn't ask for anything more from a desk top computer. I transitioned from my old 10-year-old Dell to the XPS 8960 with a minimum of hassle. Data migration went well.

Excellent machine. Very quiet for the most part - every now and then when the fans do spin up it sounds like it's going to take off, but never lasts long. I'm not a gamer, but it has handled any programming task I have thrown at it. Running Ubuntu 24.04.

I needed a new computer with W11. My old XPS had been a workhorse, but was going to be re-imaged with W-11 and was inteded to replace my wife's quite old HP. The migration has been very successful and I love the performance of the new XPS. I'm not used to the extremely quick bootup. It has a 1 TB SSD C drive, so my documents are on the SSD where the old XPX had a plattered HD for my Documents. Wow !!! The improvement was fantastic. XPS rocks.

I am very satisfied with the quality of this computer. It was pretty much ready to go out of the box. It did not take much configuration for me to get online and add the programs that I needed. Overall, I am very satisfied with my choice.

Love my new computer! It's just what I wanted! I had this same computer years ago and never had a problem with it. The only reason I bought a new one because it couldn't be updated anymore, but it still worked great. Looking forward to many years with this one too!

I am a old retired guy wanting a tower that could last me for another 20 years as my last tower purchased thru Best Buy... solid state with all the features I need... best purchase for me!

I was specifically seeking out the features of this Dell XPS 8960 and saw an open box marked in excellent condition online. Excellent condition meant to me that the box had been opened and then returned, and everything was like new. Everything was as expected on the power-up. However, the previous person who opened the box registered the computer with Dell, and a year of the warranty and service has already been used. So, it was a mixed bag of the system I wanted and disappointment, not being like new.

My 7 year old computer was running on Windows 7. Finally had to give in to buying a new one. The Dell was on sale and I liked the specs. I don't game, so I cannot comment on that. It is fast and responds well to browsing, shopping, reading emails and YouTube. Still getting used to Windows 11.
