My husband and I recently took a river cruise. Among the onboard amenities was an espresso machine. A large, shiny, elaborate espresso machine that could (and did) produce an assortment of hot beverages for passengers on the Great Rivers of Florida cruise: coffee black, coffee with cream, decaf black, decaf with cream, hot chocolate with milk, hot chocolate with water, espresso, double espresso, and . . . cappuccino. For one week I sipped cappuccino whenever I wanted it. Which was often. My observant (and thoughtful) husband, noticing my newfound affection for this frothy concoction, began researching espresso machines for the home. Enter the De’Longhi EM450 Classic Espresso Machine—Stainless Steel available at Best Buy. It fits neatly in the alcove we call the butler’s pantry without displacing another appliance or taking up valuable counter space in the kitchen. It can heat milk for hot chocolate, make a double espresso as quickly as a single, and concoct a delectable cappuccino. It’s easy to use, easy to clean, and quite affordable. The EM450 cannot rival its cousin aboard the ship. But then, it doesn’t need to. It does everything we wish just as it is. Five stars. Highly recommend.

I’ve had this De’Longhi Classic Espresso Machine for a bit now and it has exceeded my expectations. It looks sleek and high-quality on the counter, heats up quickly, and pulls great espresso with a rich crema. The milk frother works really well and makes it easy to get café-style lattes and cappuccinos at home. It’s straightforward to use (even for beginners), easy to clean, and feels sturdy and well made for the price. This has already saved me so much money compared to buying coffee out. Highly recommend for anyone wanting a reliable, stylish espresso machine without breaking the bank!

This is my first espresso machine and I’m absolutely in love with it. Looks great on my counter and makes a perfect cup every time. I haven’t bought one coffee shop cappuccino or latte since this thing arrived and I don’t plan to anytime soon. I can’t say how it stacks up against the more expensive machines, but this does the job and was $150 well spent. Pretty sure it’s already paid for itself.

I had never owned an espresso machine before, so this one was a great way to start. It was very reasonably priced, easy to use, and made with excellent materials.

Great espresso machine! It brews a hot espresso shot with incredible foam at the top. The milk gets hot as well with thick foam. It does its job and we are happy with it. It is easy to use and it is decently priced.

Christmas gift to my daughter. After a lot of research on espresso machines, this turned out to be a great 1st owed machine, She loved it. Watching "Tom's coffee Corner" on youtube helped in operating it. Plus, she had a little experience already. Best Buy's delivery time & delivery was grrat too.

***Introduction:*** Quick to heat, easy to use. One thing needs work. ***BUILD QUALITY:*** Build quality is solid for the price. Materials feel acceptable, with real metal on the exterior. Like other appliances with stainless panels, it looks nice when new (or if you can keep it clean), but picks up splatter quickly. The included scoop/tamper is above average, but is still plastic, so it bends a bit when you press grounds into the basket. Interestingly, baskets and portafilters from a smaller machine I own are interchangeable with this model. ***DESIGN:*** The chassis is wider than some competing models, and that extra width is useful because it accommodates larger coffee mugs. Controls are straightforward, and the overall footprint feels reasonable for a kitchen counter. The look is clean and simple, with that thin stainless aesthetic that fits in most spaces. ***DAILY USE:*** To start the engines, I press the power button and wait for the lights to stop blinking. While its heating, I drop in the two‑shot basket and scoop in the finely ground delight-powder of my choice. This is a bit messy since the scoop is almost the same size as the basket, but - being careful - you can tamp it down and add some more to fill. Pressing and twisting the group handle in place, I hit the two‑shot button and wait. When it’s done dripping, I add some milk with sugar‑free vanilla, and then run the two‑shot button one more time. I don’t use the steamer for reasons listed below, but this method gets me a volume and temperature I like. As a bonus, this has become my go‑to hot‑water source for tea and oatmeal; I simply remove the portafilter & let ‘er drip! ***STEAM PERFORMANCE:*** The one area I’m dissatisfied with is the steamer. Like many of these less‑expensive machines that appear to share an internal design, I’ve had inconsistent results. I want a lever to do the same thing every time and I just can’t get it to, so I avoid it. ***NOISE, SPEED & PRESSURE:*** Heat‑up is fast. Pressure ramps quickly. The sound level is acceptable and expected for this class. It isn’t silent but it isn’t obnoxious, either. ***CONCLUSION:*** Taken as a whole, this is a practical daily driver that does what I need: quick heat, dependable shots, and enough room for real mugs, with the bonus of convenient hot water on demand. The steamer and the flimsy scoop/tamper keep it from being perfect, but for the price I’m happy giving it 4 stars.

I was initially drawn to this espresso machine's unique design. The pressure dial, with its subtle steampunk style and metallic finish, adds a nice touch to my kitchen. Beyond looks, the functionality is well-thought-out. The removable drip tray is great for accommodating larger cups, especially when I'm making iced lattes. The removable water tank is conveniently located, and the water level indicator is a nice touch. The included portafilter with two filter baskets means I can easily adjust for single or double shots. The machine is also user-friendly, with intuitive buttons. When it comes to frothing milk, this machine does a solid job. The steam wand heats up quickly, and the two texture settings are genuinely useful. I've been able to create both silky, steamed milk for lattes and a nice, thick froth for cappuccinos. Even with almond milk, which can be tricky, it produced a decent foam. Cleaning the wand afterwards is quick, which is a definite plus. The brewing process itself is straightforward. The heating system gets it up to temperature quickly, which is great for the mornings when I'm in a hurry. I preheat, prepare the portafilter, and engage the brew cycle. The pressure dial provides helpful feedback during extraction. The espresso is consistently rich and strong, with a good crema. So far, it's been pulling shots at optimal pressure, and I appreciate the ability to personalize my shots. Overall, this espresso machine is easy to use, easy to clean, and consistently produces high-quality espresso. I use it daily, primarily for iced espresso, and I'm satisfied with its performance. The stainless steel body feels like it will last, and the included features, like the removable drip tray and water tank, make it a convenient and reliable addition to my kitchen.

The Delonghi EM450 arrived nearly completely pre-assembled. The only remaining assembly/prep was removing the packing tape and flushing the system before use. I’m glad I didn’t skip the flush step based on some of the concerning scents I detected during the flush process. Other than flushing, the only other step required to prepare the device was to fill the 57-ounce water tank, which I also hand washed before use. The machine requires a nearby AC outlet for power and be has a moderate counter space footprint. The EM450 performs a quick self-diagnosis when powered on. Once the LEDs stop flashing, the machine is ready for use. Coffee grounds are placed inside the handled porta-filter which has two insertable metal filter basket inserts. A handy scoop with a tamper on the other end is provided to make filling the basket easier and more accurate. The two metal filter inserts are sized for single or double cup servings. They insert into the porta-filter which is then inserted onto the machine with the handle on the left, rotated outwards towards me and locked in place with the handle facing front. I then simply push a button for one serving or two and wait for the coffee to be dispensed. The pressure gauge allows me to monitor pressure in real time as coffee is prepared. The machine stops dispensing automatically once the selected amount is dispensed. The taste and quality of the dispensed coffee is great. The temperature isn’t burn my tongue sizzling hot, but is deliciously hot enough for my tastes. Several factors can play into overall taste, but my experience with good quality, properly ground, espresso blends provides me with a smooth creamy cup of espresso with bold flavor and good crema. The machine has a milk frother can be used for more drink options. The machine can’t accommodate large cups, and I struggle to fit anything larger than 8oz mugs under the nozzle. We use small espresso cups when drinking it solo and making espresso shots to add to other coffees or teas. The machine is easy to clean and maintain after use. The simplicity and ease of use along with simple maintenance serves my needs perfectly. I’ve tried much more expensive espresso machines in the past, but they proved to be overkill and were annoyingly complicated to use and maintain. I’m not a barista or coffee connoisseur. I simply like a good cup of coffee. I don’t need a bunch of fancy features and programmability that I will seldom use. This Delonghi is beyond sufficient for making tasty and quick stand alone espressos or espresso shots. It has everything I need and nothing I don’t. I find it almost as quick and easy to use as a K cup machine and I’m more than happy with the results.

Review of De’Longhi Lines Classic Espresso Machine To start, “the” De’Longhi Lines Classic Espresso Machine (EM450M) out of box looks slim and neat look, giving that air of professional coffee maker. With four push buttons, with pressure gauge display at front panel, then on the side with visible frother wand and dial all in metallic, it create like coffee connoisseur ambiance in small size. Specific to functionalities, at front panel has: - 1 Button for Single Espresso - 1 Button for Double Espresso - 1 Button to Power On/Off - 1 Button to Steam or Descale - Gauge Display Then on the side include a dial to froth milk, and at side movable wand. From product description, De’Longhi Lines Classic Espresso Machine extract espresso with a 15-bar pump delivering 9-bar extraction, auto-stop based on type of coffee. It use specific temperature control technology “Thermoblock”, for perfect temperature. The package includes: - adjustable drip tray - tamper and filter basket for single and double espresso - portafilter Now, the process of making the expresso is similar to any other process with the same category of machine. But being specific to De’Longhi Classic Espresso Machine, to start after power one, it takes about 2 min or so to be ready, then less than a min to have the espresso extracted. To steam the milk for capuccino, it takes about a min to warm or get ready and with the frother dial can make the nice foam. In term of flavor, the first couple of expresso I made felt quite light watery, naturally this depend on the type of beans, but having used Peet’s Brazilian, and compared espresso made from a different brand with same bean, it felt short to the expectation. But after several time of having repeated, it can feel smooth and deep bold flavor. On side note for when it is brewing, it create that brownish foam at the top as good espresso machines would do. Going back to functionality, it can adjust the programming to make single or double espresso larger or not. The process is simple by pressing the single or double espresso button. Then making the milk foam is not very different from simplicity. All needed is first to warm the machine, then place the wand in the milk container, and turn the frother dial. In all of these steps, the gauge needle is good guidance to know the temperature. What I wish it were better: 1. The hot water/steam nozzle within the silver wand is made of rubber. - For being a rubber but work with hot temperature, I feel bit odd of it while it goes to the liquid that I consume. 2. Material: the entire machine is made of plastic, feels as low quality machine. Also during placing the portafilter, need to be holding with another hand such that the machine doesn’t move in occasion. 3. The Portafilter is plastic as well. For one used to solid and metal one, doesn’t have the sense of holding good one. 4. Water tank:, it doesn’t have a handle or similar, it force to grab with both hands and bit awkward during process of removing the tank and placing back. Aside of the observations based on personal preference, it does acceptable good espresso, easy to have creamy and foam milk for that moment of break.
