Got this as a replacement for my sony DHR-790 so I could have internet connection, internet radio, a usb port and more hdmi inputs. The GOOD: better sound and picture from my Blu-ray, Roku stick, and Apple TV. Endless selection of internet radio stations. Airplay or Bluetooth for Apple Music or cordless headphones. Spotify connect. Good app control via Bluetooth or web. Speaker calibration from multiple positions. The BAD: does not play well with my Sony tv. Volume from the tv is low and AVR must be turned up past 30. When tv is turned off to listen to music AVR loses all audio regardless of source or setting and has to be restarted. BB specs are wrong. This DOES NOT have HD Radio tuner. The UGLY: The remote is a behemoth and very uncomfortable. I had hand pains after several hours of setting up and adjusting everything

Very good AVR for the money. I had bought a brand new Onkyo and returned it because I couldn't get any volume out of surround speakers when playing music. This Denon has no problem driver the rear speakers. I also hooked up Zone 2 on my covered front porch, with 2 8" carbon fiber Monoprice speakers that sound very, very good! The only negative I have found is the remote control is not programmable for other components. When you get this you must download Heos app and Denon AVR app. Then you can use Heos app to play radio stations from web, your playlists from Tidal, or other music service. And it doesn't use Bluetooth from your phone so it's not draining your battery!

I purchased this due to previous experience with Denon , and for the good reviews. This replaced an older Onkyo 7.2 receiver, with more wattage per channel, and a few other features. This is coupled with a newer LG OLED smart TV, and seven speakers. The Onkyo would not shake hands with the TV using the E ARC feature and the audio was wonky . I took a chance with this Denon for that reason, but this Denon has the E ARC function, whereas the Onkyo did not. I upgraded the HDMI to super fast 8K E ARC compatible, and I have not been disappointed. I have not noticed the 75 WPC difference for my new Denon vs. 110 WPC for the Onkyo. I am very happy with this receiver so far.

Our old Denon receiver died, and by old I mean 12 years. So I looked at a number of products as replacements and decided on what we know. It was a little complicated to install and set up, but once we did we've be happy with it. It works with the TV, as a tuner, internet radio, and we can stream from our phones. There's probably more to it than that, but this is what we use and like.

Awesome unit. Very easy to navigate through the menu and it doesn’t lag much at all.

So far I am loving this receiver. I needed something with modern HDMI but that could also run some old Klipsch speakers. Exactly what I needed.

I like the fact it boasts 75 watts and it serms to have so much more

Many more features than what I had imagined. Heos Zone 2 difficult to figure out but did it without help.

Sound is fine and all, but I got a damaged box and when I opened it, a chip was taken out of the corner. Neither Best Buy nor Denon was willing to make this right so I can’t recommend purchasing this.

When my 15 year old Onkyo gave up and stopped working I headed out to BestBuy to replace it. I needed a multizone capable receiver and the Denon was the only one my local BestBuy had in stock. I could not be happier with how this purchase turned out. This Denon is so easy to set up, has amazing sound and is full of modern features. So much more advanced than my old receiver. It has HDMI 2.1 full ARC eARC support. My TV power button turns on the receiver, as it is smart connected and knows it is time to go to work. The TV volume control also controls the volume of the Denon and was smart configured with no actions required from myself. The HEOS app is great and allows me to turn on the 2nd zone of listening in the Dining Room, controlling what I want to play along with volume control, right from my phone! What a great receiver at an entry receiver price! I went from bummed, when the old receiver broke to being very happy as to what this Denon has brought into my home.

An amazing AVR with plenty of power to drive my 7.1 channels with KEF speakers. Love the price point and the features as I have five AVRs around the house and this is tops with my Marantz. Value it would beat the Marantz but of course has less features but not needed.

This little receiver has all the bells and whistles at an affordable price. We bought this to replace an Onkyo surround sound receiver (TX-SR494) that crapped out at only 5 months old. Paid $349 for the Onkyo, but it was buggy and weird from the beginning. This amp cost $50 more than the Onkyo unit but sounds infinitely better. I only wish we’d chosen this receiver to begin with, but live and learn. Easy to set up and easy to operate, I’d recommended this unit to anyone looking to start a surround sound system and not break the bank. Very happy with our purchase so far.

I love the unit and the output is exactly what I was looking for however I was not aware of how hot it got and resulted in a shutdown while I was watching a movie. I had the sound turned up quite a bit and I understand the relation between output and and heat dissipation in my cabinet but I never had this issue with my previous receiver (Onkyo). Even so I had to purchase an external cooling system just to keep this thing cool! Not happy with that but I read that Denon receivers seem to get hot. My other issue is that I had no manual and could not immediately find a reference to one. After finally searching online, I found one and all is better but it would have been nice to have it out of the box so that I had it in hand during setup. Works great (except for the heat, sound output is awesome!

Ughm, yes. Get this if you have a Xbox X and PS5 and want to have amazing sound with AV passthrough supporting 4k 120hz. The set up was really easy with the onscreen (tv display) guide. Walks you through speaker orientation, where your atmos speakers are positioned (i bought the sony atmos pair for 199), test sounds as you go step by step by step. Then calibration of speakers with the included mic and stand (stand is cardboard but works flawlessly), pop on Dolby Vision and Atmos (Star Wars is a great choice). Prepare to be blown away. eArc is awesome (my first experience with it, coming from optical) from input select, volume control, so much more.. and the price is bang on! This was an awesome purchase. Wow...

This receiver was exactly what we were looking for. Setup was super easy with the included microphone for audio configuration. WiFi access allows us to stream music from out phones. The surround sound audio is far more better than our last receiver!

This isn’t my first Denon receiver; I also own a AVR-X4400h. Even though this was considerably cheaper than what I paid 5 years ago for my other receiver, this does great paired with a 5.1 Jamo system in the bedroom. The value given it’s performance is well worth it and I won’ wouldn’t hesitate to recommend it to anyone else.
