Digimon Story: Cyber Sleuth Complete Edition - Nintendo Switch [Digital]

first day i played was last week saturday when i finally saved the game guys it said 10hrs 20 mins i literally spent all day playing lol & i’m a real gamer i play every genre but i can honestly say this is what we wanted from pokemon you open the game world up you get 3 choices for a digimon than you’re off the camera is not adjustable like sega old yakuza games that’s the camera it’s fixed but you can zokm in & out , you pick you’re protagonist boy or girl not overly complicated the voice actors are japanese so this game is sub for anime fans (lots of reading lol) they have an incredible loot system really simplistic even daycare from pokemon but it’s a tiny island here accessible at almost everywhere in the game world so no worries here you’re digimon can find items for you to use in battle something else i won’t mention that furthers the gameplay & train yes train they get strong relatively fast but not too fast no hand holding here either they’re are digimon who are stronger against different types same as pokemon i never felt at a disadvantage though if anything i felt this urge to get stronger & strategize more when i lost unlike pokemon now days it’s become soft you can breeze through with little to no grinding here is not for the weak hearted you will not breeze through the game with no utilization of the game system they’re is also a option in the game menu to make gameplay hard or normal i immediately put it to hard & yes it works , the digimon will even text you questionnaire questions on you’re digi device from daycare so you never forget you’re buddies they even said “ i miss you” i’m a guy & i was like aww SPOILERS AHEAD -> there is also something implemented here called “ Offline Colosseum” after chapter one you end up at the home base hub on the 4th floor there will be something like the elite 4 from the ending of pokemon games but accessible after chapter 1 you pin you’re digimon against 4 waves of opponents than you fight the strongest after beating the 4 & don’t worry about gaps there will be none once you win the battle the next fight starts immediately yes immediately no music no nothing lol so bring meds the tournament battles go by cups first is “ silver cup” “bronze cup” “ gold cup” i haven’t made it past the bronze cup & my digimon are on level 30 yes boys n girls it actually gets tough but in the most fun way possible i probably sound like a pokemon hater but i actually still love pokemon the games cater more to kids now days in my opinion the truth is there’s a reason big game companies didn’t review this on youtube it’s a hidden gem that i honestly wouldn’t of minded paying $60 for i paid $40 as of wednesday i am 36hrs in i would definitely recommend worth a buy i won’t spoil anything else & trust me they’re is alot i didn’t say if i didn’t sell it look up gameplay if you’re not sold

This is a great series of games. It's a port from the Playstation Vita and it very much FEELS that way. In that the design feels like that of a portable game. Other then that it's a great collection of two turn based RPGs the can get tough near end games. The monster collection and evolution aspect of it is very fun and the battle mechanic made me realize the Pokémon battle mechanic is a little lacking. You fight three in three battles with a good amount of move selections per monster. The setting is a near future VR setting that eventually feels a bit Shin Megami Tensei like if you're familiar with that series. The annoying thing about this game though is you will catch mistakes in the localization. Either some confusion with a name here and there or just grammar mistakes. There are missions in games that can get frustrating too, because the instructions are either unclear from the NPC or maybe an issue with the localization.

Not gonna spend the review bashing Pokemon. If you know, I don't need to spell it out for you. As far as these games go, they were crafted with love that can be seen through the overall quality, time, and polish that are clearly there. While both entries are admittedly text heavy, you will be sent on an otherwise wonderful nostalgia trip of a JRPG. You can customize your team how you seem fit, the battle controls are straightforward, and the story is decent and at the very least very colorful and funny at times. If you grew up loving Digimon and wishing they could produce a quality video game to compete with Pokemon, this is it. AND is is two games in one and cheaper. Win-win-win.
