A return to form for the stellar Disgaea series. After the good but lackluster Disgaea 6 they’ve managed to keep some QoL updates while still harkening back to their comedic and bloated numbers roots.

If you enjoy disgaea 1-5, then you will love disgaea 7. If you enjoyed playing the disgaea 6, you may enjoy seven but you can't super reincarnate or do certain things you loved in 6. I would give it a five star however at the time of this review, there are still mistranslations in the game and if you don't know what the correct translation is then you might get confused.

This game is great fun. I jumped to it after D5 and was not disappointed. The story is an enjoyable parody even if it gets a bit "text heavy" at times. I would say this would be a good entry point for new players to the series and a fun continuation for series veterans.

If you're a min/max-er with your RPGs, then you probably already know that the Disgaea series is the best. I don't really love the art style, per say, but it's not bad. I just prefer the older style of artwork. Still, a great entry in the series.
Yo Disgea is awesome series and love playing them they have awesome funny humor and amazing rpg tactical gameplay. 5 stars all around for this series! Just wish they bring Disgea 2 & 3 to the switch!!

Kind of a new take on the classic Disgaea series. Got it as a gift and it didn’t disappoint.

I love Disgaea, and this game is great, but I can't help but feel it isn't quite as impressive as Disgaea 4 and 5. The gameplay mechanics are every bit as good, but the story and characters just aren't as compelling. I live Hinomoto, and some of the characters are great, but the others are a bit lackluster. Maybe as I continue the story my opinion will change, but if that's the case they really buried the hook. I'm going to complete the story, but if I want to do end game content I will probably go replay 4 or 5. I know they moved from pixel art in 6, and they are probably still improving on that format, but I was hoping this game would be a return to amazing story after Disgaea 6, and it wasn't what I wanted. Still an excellent game, but not what I was looking for.

Great Game, if you are a disgaea fan, this is another great addition to the collection. Tons of replay-ability.

Disgaea has always been a series of extremes and parodies. After 6 didnt quite deliver on a great experience, I am happy to say 7 may be the best entry in the series.

[Employee of bestbuy] Its not the best in the series but its definitely not the worst. Theres a lot of good QoL additions to make the grind better.

One of the best Disgaea titles in a while! After some changes made in Disgaea 7, this one is a great return to form with some nice quality of life and a fun cast.

Far better than DIsgaea 6, Disgaea 7 returns to the standard of previous games, which is to say amazingly high. The story may not be as universally relatable as past games, but it still has the strong points that Disgaea is known for. And there's no obvious endgame twists that you can figure out by the end of the first chapter like 6's story, so you're going to have to guess a little to figure out most of them in this game. The beginning of the game is a bit slow, there's a definite desire by the makers of the game to gate certain things behind playtime, but that's not necessarily a bad thing. For example, you don't get Demonic Intelligence (auto-battling) until several chapters in, so you can't just auto-level your way to the top anymore. There are certain changes to the formula that I'm not personally a fan of, such as limiting Item World's max depth to 10*Rarity Level (10 for common, 20 for rare, etc.) but there are also changes that I really like, such as Item Reincarnation. The artbook with the deluxe edition is really good as well, but about what you'd expect it to be. On the whole, I really like this game, and I highly recommend it. It's not the best Disgaea game, but it's really hard to compete with a first playthrough of the first one on PS2, or Disgaea 5 in general, and I'm sure that once I hit the post-game I'll be even more in love with this. If you're a fan of Disgaea, this game will meet your expectations at minimum and probably surpass them. If you're not a fan of Disgaea, go get Disgaea 1 Complete for the Switch, then come get this once you've seen how great the series is. You won't be disappointed.
