I'm not a fan of the mainline Dragon Quest series, but I wanted to try out a game with this style of combat. I really liked how colorful this game is and the great variety of enemies. This game is actually a lot of fun. In addition to fighting hordes of monsters in the main story, there are a lot of interesting side quests. The main story itself is very generic, but still interesting enough, most of the playable characters are cameos from the main Dragon Quest Series (there are 4 original ones, so far), but they are all interesting and quirky. The characters have a lot of variety of weapons and move sets, and the two main characters can change their vocations to give them access to new weapons. The only main issue with this game is that it can become repetitive quickly. Personally I can only play it in short bursts. However, the game counters this by giving you new characters with new weapons and combos, and also by adding new areas and enemies. All in all a very fun experience, when you are in the mood for fast pace action that is light on the story.

The first Dragon Quest Heroes was a fun new romp across Dragon Quest locales, and the sequel is even better! More characters, more stages, more monsters and most importantly... more fun! It is sorely lacking local co-op, but even the online co-op is a nice addition since the original.

Open world aspect didn't really add anything worthwhile to the game play. Game is fun. New RPG mechanics are interesting. A bit over done though. This has more to it than the typical musou spinoff game.

There are some people that are hardcore Dragon Quest players, through Nintendo DS, Playstation, etc. I've only played DQ VIII (PS2) and the first DQ Heroes (PS4). Comparing this game along the lines of those games, it's better than DQH1. It's a hack n slash RPG with a fun story, cool characters and abilities to upgrade. I'm no expert RPG or gamer player. I play maybe 5-6 games a year, and after playing a week it's fun whether you are a serious Dragon Quest nut, RPG player or casual gamer. It's an improvement over the first Heroes game but DQ VIII might be the best game I ever played. So I think regardless of your gamer level, it's worth a try and I think you will like it.

Dragon Quest Heroes II is a faithful sequel to the first DQ:H entry. The Musou style gameplay has for the majority remained the same. The inclusion of new\additional characters, each with their own unique abilities help mix up the flow of combat. There is a ton of depth in terms of classes you can level up and skills to unlock along the way. Not to mention side-quests to complete and mini-medals to hunt down to then turn in for unique treasure at a town NPC. If you have a nostalgia for classic DQ music, sound effects and monsters you will not be disappointed with this entry. Personally, this will hold me over until I can get my hands on DQXI! I have enjoyed my time with DQ:H2 and I plan to spend many more hours hunting trophies on PS4.

If you liked the first one you'll most likely find this one more interesting. Slightly a bit open world-y in areas which is different. I love Dragon Quest stuff so I have enjoyed what I played so far. Only downside that it isn't a real Dragon Quest game. I am a bit tired of off shoots of the main game.

The first Dragon Quest Heroes is a start to a good game. The sequel brings out a new cast of heroes with a strong indication that the heroes from the first game will make an appearance. It changes a couple of things but it still is a fun and great game.

At first I was a little surprised that everyone has an English accent...never thought of it that way, but I am enjoying the story and there is SO much fighting. I'm loving it. If you are a Dragon Quest fan, you should pick up this game.

If you like the Dynasty Warrior type games you'll likely enjoy this. It's on the easy side, but still mindless fun, and there are a ton of characters to play with.

I haven't played these since they were on the original NES. Not quite the same but still keeps my interest and it's been +20 years.

A decent entry in the hack-and-slash Dynasty Warriors/Hyrule Warriors/Dragon Quest Heroes line, but this one seems a little lacking, with a simpler plot and much fewer side quests than the first. Cooperative internet play is nice if you're into that, but the job/class system for the two main heroes feels forced and unnecessary. Half the classic series heroes from the first return, which feels too repetitive and they act as if the first game never happened. Fewer heroes and only ones we'd not just seen last time would have been better. The bright spots are Maribel's constant whining and superiority complex, and the relationship between reserved fortuneteller Meena and her extravagant, freewill dancing sister Maya. Good if you liked the first game or are a Dragon Quest series fan and have played or at least a little familiar with games 4, 6, 7, and 8, but as a stand-alone game for someone unfamiliar with the series its a pass.

I've always enjoyed the Dynasty Warriors series and the Dragon Quest series separately, so of course the marriage of the two into a single game was a worthy pick up. The ability to slash through hordes of enemies with the Dragon Quest art style is refreshing, but there were times that I wished this game was more Dragon Quest and less Warriors. The open world design and the slight variety of puzzles to the mundane hack and slash are welcomed, but the story is mediocre and doesn't engage you so the fighting could get tedious and repetitive at times. Overall, this was a good sequel to the DQH1 with noticeable improvements and I enjoyed playing it. But it also possess the same problems that all DW games have, like lack of character variation other than looks, monotonous combat, lack of loot rewards, and stuff like that. I'm not looking for a Souls game type difficulty, but I did wish it provided a more varied game play and stayed true to DQ in providing a more engaging story.

It's a fun RPG gaming allowing you to roam around the open world, as much as it allows you to, as you progress through the story. It's not as great as the original but it's a fun game that you can play to pass the time.
