I played the original back in the day. This game is one of the most beautiful games I have ever seen. Love the style of HD 2D. It adds stuff to make it better while not overdoing it. A great simple game that if you want to just relax, enjoy some beauty and not be stressed this is the game for you.

Better than the original!! While there is enough similarities to the original to have the nostalgia factor, there’s enough newer stuff to attract a newer generation of Dragon Quest fans. It’s probably longer than the original due to things like the mini medal collecting, needing sigals, and a few other things; but not so long to turn away people. I finished Dragon Quest 1 with everything needed for PSN trophies in a little over 12 hours, casually playing. I havent yet started DQ 2 but I bet it will be just as fun as the DQ 1&3 hd-remakes. Plenty of nostalgia but still plenty of story and game play enhancements. Absolutely 1000000% recommend the remakes of the timeless classics.

gameplay is a little repetitive but the story of 2 makes it worthwhile. you should play 3 before this though since the epilogue ties into it in a way that isn't satisfying if you jump into this game first
