A: The Dynex receptacles put out 2.4 amps total. The other receptacles you are referencing can do 3.6 amps I believe so definitely more output that would be better for tablets big phones etc. I don't know anything about Best Buy pricing and I am just an electrician and decided to answer some of the people's questions as a courtesy.
Q: What is the amp rating of the electrical outlets? 15 amp or 20 amp??
A: 15 amp. A 20 amp outlet has a horizontal opening, or a "T" shaped opening on one of the slots.
Q: Are these standard size and will they fit designer wall plates?
A: These are standard size square outlets and will fit standard plates with a square opening. FYI, they do come with their own cover plates.
A: You have an outlet that is split into 2 parts. One part is hot or on all of the time and the other part goes on and off with the switch. This outlet will not allow you to wire it the same way as the old one. You can only connect the black wire (normally hot all the time) or the red wire that goes on and off with the switch. If you use this outlet you will have an extra wire since only one can be used. Hope this helps.

A: So many conflicting answers so I emailed Dynex to get the info from the manufacturer. Here it is: Thank you for contacting Dynex Products. This is Alexander and it will by my absolute pleasure to assist you today with your DX-HW24A182P Wall Outlet since you wonder how much Amps the outlets provide when both in use. I understand how important this is for you and now, after taking the time to research I was able to confirm that the energy splits to 1.2A and 1.2A when both outlets are in use for a total of 2.4A. So to those who said it is shared or 1.2A if both ports are used, yayy. To the others, please be more careful not to share incorrect info.
A: Yes add pigtails which is just a short piece of wire. Splice one end to the outlet and the other to the other wires of same color. Use either wire nuts or push in connectors like wagos
