Takes some setup; I personally had to troubleshoot my own setup a bit after installing everything. I use a Mac Mini M2 so I excited to give this a go to assist my business podcast. I think I can put it to good use. I put it between a set of dual monitors but settled with just above it.

This is a cool product with good potential, but there are several issues that are not just dealbreakers, but actually feel like a bit of an insult. The biggest issue is that, when using the prompter mode, my video repeatedly gets said to 1080p 30fps. This is pretty insulting given that it only comes with a faceplate for the Elgato Facecam Pro and not for the Elgato Facecam. Another big issue is the fact that I there is glare in my recordings whenever the prompter is on. People on Reddit have recommended putting depolarizing film between the camera and the reflector, and said that it works well. Elgato should probably do this from the factory. Also, the prompting software has a feature that scrolls automatically based on what line you're saying. That did not work for me, it would not recognize the words I was saying and scroll the text. Another issue; the prompter comes with no desk mount. This thing is 300 bucks, you should be able to include a desk mount. Lastly, this thing is just huge. That's not necessarily a problem, but it's a consideration since I had to put my monitor about 8 inches from the wall to fit this thing behind it.

Thanks for sharing your feedback. The resolution dropping to 1080p30 is likely due to the camera or software you're using, as Prompter itself doesn't affect resolution settings.
For glare, try adjusting Prompter's brightness in Camera Hub, or its positioning may help. Voice Sync is relatively new, and we're actively working on improvements, with an update coming soon. If it's not working at all, check your OS privacy settings and ensure the correct microphone is selected in Camera Hub.

I like this prompter, I really do. However, there are issues I have with its software. But first, the hardware and setup. It is bigger than I though, but perfectly acceptable. I am using a Facecam M.2 with this, so it is disappointing that Elgato does not include a backplate specific to their own camera, only the Facecam Pro (which is about $100 more). I like the braided cable that comes with it, although an option for USB-C connection to the computer would be nice. The 90 degree connection is great since it eliminates the strain on the cable. Setup was relatively simple. Now the issues, which are software based There is no way to turn off the prompter. Elgato is aware of this and has even shown screenshots of software with the ability to turn it off, but they have not released it yet. I found a workaround by disconnecting the display in Display Settings (Windows), but when I shutdown my monitors for the night (leaving my PC running, but monitors off), it automatically returns to being shown. Maybe this is partly a Windows issue. Another problem is the screen will become jittery on the prompter when typing a script in the software. It is annoying and should not be doing that, yet another software fix is needed. Right now, I have to unplug the prompter when I am shutting down for the night and leaving the PC powered on. I am going to work around the script issue by typing out in a different program and then pasting into the prompter software. Once the software issues are resolved it will be even better.

This is actually a 4.5 star review (very good). The teleprompter works great, it's easy to ready and farily easy to use. The half-star discount is due to the fact that one must download software that is not self-explanatory, which resulted in a few hiccups on the set up stage.

This teleprompter is awesome. It’s easy to set up, integrates smoothly into my workflow, and works perfectly as a secondary screen for reading scripts straight to the camera. There’s a sturdy platform behind the glass to mount your camera, so you’re recorded head‑on with natural eye contact. I tested multiple cameras—my iPhone, GoPro, and even my Insta360 Link webcam—and they all worked great. The build quality feels excellent all around, and if you’re a creator or anyone who needs on‑screen guidance while speaking, this is an excellent purchase. You can also control the speed of your script by adjusting the scrolling pace, so you never have to worry about the text moving too fast or too slow. It’s very manageable and feels intuitive, even if you’re new to teleprompters.

This made recording videos so much easier! Looking at people in the eye and not look like you've memorized lines saves so much time in postproduction! I wish I would have gotten one sooner. The default software works well enough for my use but it is a well designed device that is versatile that you can monitor the chat yourself and acts as a 2ndary or 3rd monitor to see how you look while you record.

This teleprompter has been extremely helpful to me during conference calls. I can keep my notes on the screen while maintaining eye contact with the camera. I’ve used it with all kinds of cameras too from my mirrorless camera to my phone to my camera to multiple webcams. It works really well with any type of USB camera and even wirelessly with my phone. It’s a great way to look and sound professional in meetings and when making content for social media.

This is great little prompter. The screen is a tad small but it will get you by especially if you have a multi monitor setup. I have mine just over the top of my widescreen connected to a monitor pole. Mine works fine with a basic HD logitech webcam.

The text flows as you speak vs a random speed. That's always been my issue as I can never get the right speed. The voice recognitions software knows what words I've already said keeping the right text on the screen vs getting behind or trying read slower.

This is not a plug and play item, I had to download drivers, change computer settings, and spend time talking to customer service. It’s the same experience I have with all my Elgato products, good stuff but not ready to go right away.

Let me first say the teleprompter itself is nice. What kills this is the software. Camera hub is terrible. I have a Mac and the Elgato foot pedal and when I use it, the scrolling is not smooth, it jitters and it’s an unpleasant experience. Second, I like loading my script into the software and reviewing it. You can’t access the software unless the prompter is connected. What were they thinking? I wish elgato would open this up to 3rd party software like Teleprompter for Mac and IOS which I find to be the best teleprompter software. I don’t think a company can make both great software and hardware unless you’re Apple. But, they are unique and honestly some of their own software is questionable.
