The quality of the meat is really good. You can tell right away when you taste it. The amount of meat you get is enough for a month. The box it comes in is easy to break down and put it in the recycle as well. It can be a bit pricey, but if you are still planning to buy meat at the grocery store, it might be worth it to add to your budget. Overall, I've had a great experience so far, and I am looking to keep the membership for a while.

I’ve been wanting to try Butcherbox for awhile, and the $30 off a box benefit made it so i finally set up an account and got my first box. I am so glad I did because the quality is amazing and the prices were surprisingly comprable to grocery store prices.

I decided to try ButcherBox through this promotion since the discount made it feel like a decent way to test the service without spending a fortune upfront. Delivery was smooth, packaging was good, and everything arrived frozen solid with no issues there. I also like the overall idea behind the company with the sourcing and animal welfare standards. Unfortunately, the actual meat quality didn’t really impress me, especially for the price these boxes normally cost. The biggest disappointment by far was the filet mignon. I specifically looked forward to those because filet is usually one of my favorite cuts, but these were surprisingly chewy and lacked the tenderness I expect from filet mignon. Honestly, the steaks I buy locally at my supermarket are noticeably better. Texture-wise these felt much closer to average grocery store choice cuts rather than anything premium. The New York strips were better and definitely more enjoyable, but still not something that stood out enough for me to justify continuing the subscription. They were fine, just nothing special. Overall, most of the beef I received tasted more like standard choice-grade meat instead of the higher-end quality the branding and marketing kind of lead you to expect. I will say the convenience aspect is nice. Having meat delivered to your door is useful, especially if you don’t have a good butcher nearby. But for me personally, I realized I can get better steaks locally for about the same price or less, while also being able to personally pick the cuts I want. I don’t think the product is terrible, but I do think expectations matter here. Based on the advertising and reviews, I expected restaurant-quality steaks and that just wasn’t my experience. Glad I tried it with the discount, but I won’t be subscribing again.
