Q: Will I be able to print onto cardstock weight paper with this printer?
A: Yes. I do all the time. See my review for an issue I have ran into with heavier paper.
A: As far as I know they only have black XL cartridges and I just put one in my printer. The color slots are narrower
Q: If this runs out of a color ink, will it still print in black?
A: No it will not, mine ran out of magenta last night and after stopping the print and resetting the printer itself we could not get it to start even in black and white. My wife prints a lot for school but we've only had this printer for 2 weeks. I will be taking it back today, my cheap Canon printer lasted longer than this one did.

A: You need to as a minimum print at least one or two pages each week, to keep the ink from drying in the print head. If the printer sits idle for awhile the ink dries in the printer head, clogging it up.
Q: I assume that it works with Android phones also?
A: Yes, it will connect/print from an Android phone.
A: i never bother with those gimmicks. HOWEVER. make sure you replace ink BEFORE it stops printing that color or you will dry the heads out and clog them up really bad to the point where you may have to replace the printer. i am going through this right now. i purchased similar unit for parents and it is beyond belief the trouble i am having to restore the print heads. may have to replace the unit.
Q: Can you print or scan from a flash drive with this model?
A: I believe you can print from a flash drive. For the second scenario, if you meant, can it scan and save directly to a USB drive yes it can. Just plug it in the USB access port located at the front of the printer, and select function you want it to perform.
