I was excited to try out this tower as I had been eyeing it for a while. Overall, I would say its performance is just average / ok. Assembly of the tower was super easy. I really appreciate the size and weight of the base which gives the tower a stable foundation. Finding a good spot for the tower was a bit tricky. The manual recommends keeping it at a minimum distance of 3 feet from other objects, but the cord is very short, and it really limits the placement of the tower. Initial use of the tower was also a bit frustrating. Getting my phone to connect to the tower properly via the app was not as straight forward as it should have been, and the directions were a bit off; which added to the confusion. I initially connected to the wrong connection option for the tower, and once connected, I couldn’t change the speaker settings or the lights. Restarting the app didn’t resolve this. Instead I had to turn off the tower, restart the app, and then I was able to reconnect my phone to the tower via the other connection option, which then allowed me to control all the settings. After testing out a few things within the app, I closed the app and then quickly reopened it after wanting to adjust the light some more. When I reopened the app, I had once again lost control of the lights and sound settings.
Within the app, you are able to change the coloring of the light and the flashing of it. There are a bunch of fun settings and adjustments that can be changed with it. The sound quality of the speaker is good. There are preset settings to adjust for whatever is playing but I didn't notice much of a difference when switching between them. That said, adjustments to the bass and treble weren't very noticeable either, and it is pretty evident that this is a midrange speaker. For me, the clarity of the sound and the volume range was more important than the high quality of the speaker, and the tower exceeded my expectations in both of those categories. The sound was clear throughout the entire volume range for the speaker. The lower volume setting was perfect for just sitting outside, near the speaker, and wanting some background music, and the higher volume range was impressively loud. To test the higher end of the volume range, I walked to the very back of my yard and then turned up the sound. The sound was loud and clear from a decent distance away AND I was still able to control the tower with my phone, so the Bluetooth range of the tower proved to be very good as well. In regards to the sound, I think it is additionally worth mentioning that you can link multiple towers together. I’m not sure if this option is extended to other Bluetooth speakers, but that would definitely be a nice option if so.
Last, I tested out the heating feature of the tower. I had set the tower to be 3 feet away from everything (as recommended in the directions) and sat about 3 feet from it. While there was a bit of a difference between the low and high heat settings, I wasn't that impressed with the heat output overall. Maybe if you have a few of these set up it will heat up an area where people are sitting, but by itself, it makes a minimal difference.
There's definitely room for improvement with this tower, especially with the app. The light features are very cool and the sound is good for an outdoor speaker, but the heating is just ok. If looking to purchase this tower solely for the heating, I cannot recommend relying on it alone to heat a small space.
