best lens for portraits. a little heavy, but that's what you should expect (no secret). always in my backpack for the best portrait

This lens blew my mind. Ever since it was announced I've been wanting to snatch one, but they would not stay in stock long enough for me to purchase one. I finally was able to get one and take advantage of Best Buy's 24 month 0% financing. It is ridiculously sharp and fast, handles low light like a champ and the bokeh is out of thisworld. Have not taken it off my A7iii since I bought it!

The best lens. Catches all tiny details very clearly. The picture is extremely clean. I can proudly say yes this is the right choice .People ask me what are you using and i want buy too. People gives me more work thanks to Sony and best buy who allows me to share my all work with amazing people.

Stopped using a 50mm focal length but once I rented this lens I had to buy it. Spends more time on my camera now than a 35mm or 85mm. Outside portraits pair well with the Sony 135mm f1.8.

The ultimate in portrait photography! A bokeh monster of a lens. Also can be used for low light landscape photography. I highly recommend if the budget allows. My new favorite piece of glass.

Tack sharp from corners to center. Great fall-off when wide-open. Must-have for professionals needing that focal length, and for enthusiasts wanting to see the best quality.

Absolutely insane bokeh and image quality. If your attention to detail is high you’re gonna want the 1.2 and nothing else. Best 50 there is.

This lens is sold out everywhere, so i had no choice but to buy it when i saw it in "Excellent" condition on BestBuy's website. Does it look excellent? Also, no packaging material inside box for 2k lens? I can't even return it because new one is sold out everywhere :( Tried contacting customer service via Chat, they were unable to help and told me to go to a store and talk to someone. Lens is working so far, but my point is.... its not in a condition that was described "Excellent"

The Sony 50mm f/1.2 GM is a technically exceptional lens, and the f/1.2 aperture is its defining feature. In low-light environments it performs at a level that simply isn't reachable with slower glass. Scenes that require ISO 12,800 on an f/1.8 lens can be captured cleanly at ISO 400 with this one, with moving subjects and poor lighting conditions that would otherwise produce unusable results. Autofocus is fast and accurate, rarely missing even at f/1.2, which is a meaningful achievement at such a wide aperture. Sharpness and bokeh quality are both excellent. It is smooth and natural-looking without the onion ring quality that some fast lenses produce. Build quality is solid, with weather sealing that holds up in real conditions, and it comes with a carry case and strap as expected from the G Master line. The elephant in the room is the price. At roughly $2,000, the value case depends almost entirely on how much the f/1.2 aperture matters to your shooting. For low-light and natural light work (indoor venues, nighttime scenes, available-light portraits) the difference over an f/1.8 lens is genuine and significant. For general use with flash or in well-lit conditions, the gap narrows and the 50mm f/1.8 at a fraction of the cost covers most situations nearly as well. The focal length itself is also worth considering: 50mm is a specific perspective that photographers tend to either connect with or find limiting. If it suits your style and low-light performance is a priority, this lens is difficult to fault. If neither condition applies, the money is likely better spent elsewhere in your kit.

I’ve been using the Sony FE 50mm f/1.2 GM for the past several weeks, and it has completely transformed my photography. I shoot a mix of street, portraits, low-light events, and video, and this lens excels in every one of those areas. From the moment I put it on my Sony body, I noticed how sharp and refined the images are — even wide open at f/1.2. Skin tones look wonderfully natural and pleasing, and details are crisp without looking overly processed. The bokeh is buttery smooth and separates subjects beautifully from backgrounds, which makes portraits look cinematic and professional. Autofocus performance is another huge plus. It’s fast, accurate, and quiet, even in dim lighting. I shoot handheld a lot, and this lens keeps up effortlessly. Eye-AF works like a charm and helps me lock focus quickly on moving subjects. I also appreciate how well built the lens feels. It’s solid, weather-sealed, and balanced on my Sony a7 series camera, so it feels comfortable for long shooting sessions. Best uses I’ve found: • Portraits with dreamy backgrounds • Street photography in any light • Night and indoor shooting without flash • Video work with subject separation

The focus and blur background for videos is A1 can capture a good bit of range and is crispy. I have only shot photos a few times only had it for about 2 weeks. Deff a fire lens major upgrade from my original lens I have

This lense is amazing. Love the images it takes. I like the 50mm focal length. This might be my new bread and butter lens for portraits so worth it. Just get it. If you can only have one prime. Just save up and get this. Very versatile.

Obsessed is an understatement. This lens is top notch. The low f/stop helps create that beautiful bokeh and with it only being a 50mm I don’t feel like I am a million miles away from my clients.
