What can I say a new Fire Emblem game that is a great addition to the series, I am really glad I picked this up. The fusion of playstyles is a lot of fun, and you have a great cast of characters to use. This game is an absolute must for anyone who is a fire emblem fan.

Hooo this game is a mixed bag... It's your typical Warriors/Muso game, you hack and slash your way through tons and tons of dudes while trying to take/rescue forts or handle other objectives. This game obviously revolves around the fanservice of Fire Emblem, something I'll get into when I talk about the story which ...is a massive negative to me. The combat is fairly shallow, you have a heavy attack + strong attack, special attack and a super mode. You can change characters on the fly and use items to heal as well as manage some gear. Don't expect Devil May Cry 3 level combat, enemies mostly horde around you and stare you down while side stepping left and right and rarely attack. The generals and such are the ones to watch out for, but even then, on hard mode I was finding myself failing only because of map restrictions. I'm making the game sound bad but, with the huge hordes and large war scaled combat the real focus is running around the map completing objectives WHILE killing tons of dudes. Think of it as a beat 'em up but on a massive scale. There's a good variety of characters but they seem to share the same moves depending on the class they are. There is the weapon triangle where some characters weapons best enemies better or worse depending on what/who you're using. Even on hard it's not that impactful I don't feel, especially if you switch characters on the fly. I'll start with the negatives: The 'story' mode is fine enough for gameplay but the actual story connecting all the events together is so comically bad it's like your average or lower fighting game. Characters breaking out into fights for the dumbest reasons only to join up as allies right after. I mean really dumb reasons. You find one character, help them out then their sibling thinks you kidnapped them and now it's a fight to the death. You win the battle and everything is peachy! ....Minus the fact you cut down 1000+ of their army because of this brain dead misunderstanding. Characters that fans probably really like are reduced to one dimensional characters who can't wrap their head around basic situations. Yes, I know it's supposed to be a big fanservice free for all but it's ....paaainful. The english voice acting is pretty bad, some voices are alright and I think I know some of them from the Tales games, Xillia & Berseria and those voices are fine but for the most part voices are either bad to just alright...There is Japanese voices but you have to download them because ...more cartridge space=more money for the dev. So it's a hefty download if you want the Japanese voices and I didn't like much of the voices either. Most of the girls sounded like a cliche desu girl. Lyn being HIGHLY surprising on how they made her sound. I'm not against the girly desu girl voices ...when there's some variety, which I don't feel there is here. The real issue with the voices is they do not, ever, shut up. Every menu action, every upgrade you buy, every item you sell , every menu selection is followed by repeated dialog over and over, and over, and over. I don't care if you like the voices or not, this will grate very fast. I do not know what they were thinking. Anyway, on to the positives. The game has 2 modes for gameplay performance: graphics & performance modes. Graphics is 1080p/30~fps vs 720p 60~fps, being this is an action game the performance mode is the only right way to go. It runs much better than Hyrule Warriors on WiiU because of Switch's superior hardware and these options. This is especially apparent in 2player mode which I HIGHLY recommend you play on performance mode, the framerate stays above 30 this way and honestly with the split screen I don't think you'll notice the visual downgrade on performance mode. There's also more enemies on screen in 2player mode vs Hyrule Warriors which seemed to struggle to get the bare minimum amount on screen to complete the challenge quests. That is not to say that the enemy count/pop in/etc is GOOD in 2player mode, it's good enough to have some fun with a friend. Honestly they should have had a local multiplayer mode at the very least but they didn't go for that. I played a few hours co-op and had a much better time than Hyrule Warriors in co-op at the very least. Honestly, it's probably the best way to play the game. You can cover a lot of ground and enjoy some fairly mindless combat with a friend. There's some good post game stuff here that I think is done WAY better than Hyrule Warriors. The game is pretty good, but do not buy this for the story, do not buy this because you think your character is going to be super cool in the game (they'll likely shock you with how dumb the story makes them act). You get this for hack and slash fun. And its' a good time for that.

Fire Emblem Warriors is a wonderful game for both long time Fire Emblem fans and beginners to the franchise. Despite being a spin off title, Fire Emblem Warriors seems to capture the basic strategy elements from the main series and weaves them quite well into the real time ‘hack and slash’ combat that the Warriors games are known for. There’s plenty of thrilling action to be found here but some of the later battles get pretty hard in the story mode, so be prepared to think on your feet and think through your ally placement and commands. It’s also great to just unwind and battle lots of enemies to pass some free time, too. If you are a Fire Emblem fan, and don’t mind the heavy focus on more recent characters, then I highly recommend it. The fusion of the gameplay styles is a great amount of fun on its own despite which character you end up playing as. Be warned though. This game uses quite a bit of my Nintendo Switch’s battery life when played in portable mode, and much of the gameplay incorporates some important audio cues. I’d say be prepared to bring a portable charger and headphones with you if you plan on playing this game on the go.

The Dynasty Warriors franchise didn't interest me for a number of years, but the Fire Emblem flavoring made it a must-buy for me. This game features the classic combo-based hack-and-slash combat of Dynasty Warriors combined with strategy elements from Fire Emblem that will have you capturing bases, defeating enemy commanders, and issuing orders to your party members in glorious fashion. Featuring 23 playable characters wielding six weapon types, the weapon triangle strength/weakness system from Fire Emblem makes the transition to real-time combat with fast-paced, addictive action that has kept me playing for over 130 hours so far, and with DLC in the game's future, I don't see myself putting it down any time soon. Truly an epic entry in the Switch library.

The reviews have been generally positive, if not thrilled, about this follow-up to the Wii U's Hyrule Warriors (featuring Fire Emblem characters rather than those from the Legend of Zelda franchise). That said, my experience has been universally praiseworthy. The game includes, from the start, at least a hundred hours worth of content. Some of this could be considered 'grinding,' but the moment to moment gameplay is consistently engaging due to the great performance and strategic twists. Unlike virtually any other Musou/Warriors game, your allies in this one can actually be effective on the battlefield as you direct them to secure key points on a map or defeat specific opponents who are weak to their weaponry. For better or for worse, ignoring your allies and objectives will often result in a lost battle; this does lead to more compelling play, but prevents the kind of mindless battling that the series is known for - adjust your expectations accordingly. Perhaps the most surprising fact is that Fire Emblem fans will find much to recognize in this game despite it more generally resembling standard Musou/Warriors mechanics. Immediately recognizable are the characters - though the roster can reasonably be criticized for focusing on three core games (Fire Emblem Awakening, Fates, and Shadow Dragon) - but small touches resemble Fire Emblem as well. Maps resemble those in the classic strategy games, characters are represented in menu screens by pixel art from the respective titles, and level up moments or special attacks feature sound effects and a pop-up image of the character like one would find in the Fire Emblem series. The most important element is the strategic depth, though, which becomes critical enough in the postgame that the player feels he or she is actually playing a Fire Emblem strategy game in which he or she gets to complete the skirmishes manually. If you can't tell, I love this game. One final detail that reveals the developers' respect for their audience is the inclusion of a choice between playing in Performance or Quality modes when docked; Performance mode presents the game in a 720p resolution at 60 frames per second, while Quality mode presents the game in a 1080p resolution at 30 frames per second. I prefer the former, and don't find that it contrasts poorly with the game's established 30 frames per second in portable mode. Those with a bigger television, less sensitive to frame rates, or more sensitive to resolutions, will likely choose Quality mode. The availability of the choice is a very nice one, though!

I am obsessed with this game. I was not a big fan of the dynasty warriors series originally. The first entry to draw me in was Hyrule Warriors. It brought in fantastic characters and environments to the game to make it more familiar and catch my attention. Fire emblem warriors goes the same path, drawing upon well known heroes from the games. However, where this game stands out is taking the fire emblem strategy elements. Having more control of all the actions of your characters, the weapons triangle, and pairing up characters for combo attacks and defense, there's a ton of strategy. You can pick between usually four characters to control, and the rest of the army you can command indirectly or team up with them to give you stat boosts. Controlling your army feels like fire emblem, and all the characters feel useful. Many times I've told characters to fight a base or a boss, and am surprised when I'm told they've been successful. Characters will also sometimes ask "what should I do next? Which indicates they need direction." There is also performance or quality modes, depending if graphics or frame rate is your main concern, and it works awesome. While I was very hesitant of this game, I can 100% say it is a blast, and I would highly recommend it as a switch must have!!

Ever since I saw Hyrule Warriors, I thought, Ya Know Fire Emblem would work great with the Musou treatment. In fire Emblem you tend to have a small party taking on a battlefield full of enemies, and that is what the musou games always offered. Lo and behold, the game was made, and it works great! At it's core it plays like Samurai or Dynasty Warriors. Take your god-like party members and cut through hordes of faceless soldiers and lesser monsters while making your way to the captains on the map and other objectives. Strategy comes in the form of ensuring all of your units survival or holding forts by properly switching your units in battle. The blend of fire emblem elements makes this game stand out though. The weapon triangle comes in, you can command your units on a map grid with little fire embelm-esque character sprites, and you play through story beats taken straight from some of the games. It's a lot of fun, but only held back a bit by being a little too easy and feeling kida repetitive as you go through more and more levels fighting more and more faceless hordes.

This game is what Hyrule Warriors should have been. The game mechanics are very much improved and runs smoothly on the switch in portable mode. Only downside I see is the character selection from Fire Emblem franchise wasnt the best overall but that doesn't affect the game overall.

Not a particular fan of the Dynasty Warriors games, my only encounter was with a friend in college on his PS2. It was fun for what it was, but not something I'd go out of my way to get. Some time later picked up Hyrule Warriors for the Wii U and enjoyed it. I love the Zelda series and remembered having fun that one time playing a Dynasty Warriors game. My wife and I played that to death and it was fun. A bit of a guilty pleasure. I'm not very familiar with the Fire Emlem series (i.e. characters, story). Despite that, Fire Emblem Warriors has been a delight. Easily exceeded my expectations and a better game than Hyrule Warriors. There's quite a bit more strategy to be had, the presentation is slick, and much less grindy. Good game for people who enjoy action, button mashers, and co-op.

The Fire Emblem property being applied to the Dynasty Warriors franchise of games works a lot better than Hyrule Warriors, a past Nintendo-DW hybrid. The art-style is gorgeous, the whole game feels charming, and there's a lot more variety in the characters you play as from the source games, rather than six different versions of Link (like in HW). Overall, I just like this game. The voice acting can get a little cringy sometimes, but the soundtrack is interesting and the gameplay is surprisingly fun for a DW game. Decent alternative to the traditional Fire Emblem title, and a good way to spice it up for fans of the franchise.

I will start of admitting that I am a huge fan of Musou games. After a long day at work, they provide a great way to release stress. I really enjoy how the developers take the basic formula they have perfected in their Dynasty Warriors games, and merge it so well with big IP's... in this case, Fire Emblem. Here, they do a near flawless job of just that. With smooth action, and just enough strategy to satisfy most armchair commanders, fans of either franchise will feel right at home here. This does fall just a bit below Hyrule Warriors due to its story and 'adventure' mode not quite living up to that excellent title; however, this is more than made up for with its portability over that Wii U title (and a huge jump in graphics if you played the 3DS version).

I have never played a Warriors game until this, so the main draw of this game for me was the Fire Emblem aspect. The hack and slash gameplay can be fun and satisfying but the bosses are just damage sponges that occasionally hit back. There is actual strategy in deploying and giving orders to units across the map and they are fairly competent but they take a noticeable long amount of time to defeat the enemies you assign them to and part of the strategy involves occasionally going back to the map screen in order to assign new orders whenever they are done or have put themselves in danger. All in all, it does feel like a Fire Emblem game, just more fast paced with some over the top animations.

If you like Musou(Warriors) and Fire Emblem Franchises, ...well...this is your game :) I'm all about gameplay, and this has what I expected and a little more in that aspect. Pros: + Giving orders to controlled/uncontrolled troops.....this is nice. This kind of existed in 'Dynasty Warriors 8 Complete Edition', but since you there's more named troops in your army, you can tell them to attack, guard location, guard other named troop, pair/unpair with another named troop, heal other named troop....its nice having a lot of options :) especially when win/lose conditions change during battle. This makes the more difficult mission swing to an even scale based on how good of Commander you are. + Pairing System to make your controlled and uncontrolled troops more powerful + The Double Special (Double Musou) attacks are flashy & fun. + The Crest System is a copypasta of the Hyrule Warriors, but still a nice implementation of using items you gain from battle. Helps you augment your troops to have a better advantage over the Weapon Triangle system. Cons: - Story.....not that I had much faith in the beginning to be WOW'd by the story of another Musou game, but It's there, it drives the narrative, sets the stage for each battle (since battles are the more likable feature). It's far-fetched and and put's unimaginative effort into how different FE characters exist in the same timeframe. Whatever, It's not a big deal to me, but those who like story, I believe you'll be disappointed. - No Online Multiplayer or Online Co-Op.....Wasn't in Hyrule Warriors, and it's not in this game. There's still 2 player couch play as long as you have an extra controller...it seems you can get around that by handing a joycon to player 2 but there's only one analog stick for movement, not 2nd for camera control...so I can imagine that's a little frustrating. All-in-all, a good game. If you already have Super Mario Odyssey and Zelda Breath of the Wild, then I recommend to pickup as your next title for your Switch library.

If you've played a Warriors game then you know what to expect. Tons of enemies to hack and slash your way through and use your specials to wipe out a bunch of them at once. This one has two-player co-op after the first three missions. The frame rate can chug a bit, but their is an option for performance to turn down the visuals for a bit to get a higher frame rate-- though I wouldn't say it reaches 60 fps when playing co-op. Their are still some time when enemies would not be as populous in some areas if there are too many in the other player's area. Despite all that, the game is fun and still feels rewarding after tearing through thousands of enemies. The main differences between this game and other Warriors games are that the characters are obviously Fire Emblem themed. The weapon triangle also appears in this game, but with only a few exceptions, you don't need to worry too much about. You can also pair up two units together on the battlefield and they add a few extra benefits, including raising their support to get rare materials. You can also send your other characters commands to take over a base or to run away if things get too perilous for them. There are also quite a bit of missions to do in the History mode after completing the main story. Their are some collectables in the main story that you have to revisit and some on higher difficulties. You can also upgrade your characters a lot, and you will need a lot of materials dropped by the enemies and some received by characters through support leveling up. Overall, this game is fun to play with a friend that will make you feel like the hero you are playing without too much difficulty. It has a lot of things to unlock after the main story if you wish to pursue that, and DLC is to be released in the future. Pick it up if you want a great Warriors experience with some Fire Emblem themed characters.

If you have played any Dynasty Warriors (Musou in Japanese) game or Hyrule Warriors, you kind of know the basic gist of the game. However, the Fire Emblem crossover allows this to be a lot more tactical, which makes me like this game a lot more than what Hyrule Warriors did for Zelda. The game allows you to pause the game, and command units to move to certain areas of the map, whether to defend a fort, capture a fort, or heal another character. It's basically like a semi real time strategy Fire Emblem game, where you can personally control a select few characters during the battle. You can switch any time between the playable characters, which is necessary because the classic Fire Emblem weapons triangle comes into play here. Need to take over a fort with a polearm defender? Switch to your axe user and take it over, while you can command your sword user(s) to move towards forts that give them an advantage. That's the basic gist of Fire Emblem Warriors, and it's executed very well. The last few comments I'll make are that the story is definitely on the weaker side, especially since they're crossing over characters from multiple Fire Emblem games, along with the fan service that came with Fire Emblem Awakening and Fates on the 3DS. Whether you think of that as a plus or not, it's up to you, but I'm personally not a fan of the deep otaku fan service, and I'm able to just push through it because the gameplay is just so good in this game. I highly recommend this to anyone looking for a healthy mix of strategy and action, especially if you're a fan of the more recent Fire Emblem games. I don't think the Fire Emblem series and Warriors series could have been crossed over any better in terms of gameplay.

Do you enjoy playing Dynasty Warriors? If yes, keep reading if no just stop, this game isn't going to change your mind. Also, for Fire Emblem fans, this game is not going to make you think as hard as a traditional Fire Emblem game. The features they brought over from Fire Emblem work well to allow your decisions over your army to feel like they matter more than a normal dynasty warriors game, but that isn't saying much. Fire Emblem Warriors ties a lot of features into a typical warriors game. My favorite of which is the high control-ability of your AI officers. You can direct your officers to defend, attack and even heal the various objectives on a map and they'll actually succeed! Gone are the days your named officer outright loses to a generic officer forcing you to run all the way across the map to secure an objective. As long as you are paying attention to the weapon triangle (Sword > Axe > Lance > Sword for anyone who isn't familiar with fire emblem) then you can confidently command your allies and manage objectives at a very respectable speed. Having said that the AI is still tragically bad when you actually are within eye sight to watch them. They will still attack at typical Dynasty Warrior speeds of once every 30 seconds or so making you wonder how they could ever conquer objectives as fast as they do when you aren't there to watch them. Outside of the AI the player controlled game play is very much dynasty warriors standard. Find your favorite character and combos and beat the tar out of everything you see. The campaign is about 10-15 hours long and I haven't finished the post-campaign content which requires replaying the campaign maps with new objectives.

This game is a great button-mashing combat game. The combos are simple combinations of the Y and X buttons. There is a bit of strategy in this game, as you can command your computer controlled allies around the map. Some elements carried over from the Fire Emblem franchise are the Weapon Triangle and unit support system. If you like the Fire Emblem series, especially the Awakening and Fates games, definitely pick this game up!

This is a great game. It takes that fun hack and slash element from Dynasty Warriors but adds in Fire Emblem characters and story elements. You can use items, manage the sword/spear/axe weapon circle, swap between four heroes at once, create bonds/pairs for amazing ultimates, and more If you're a fan of the Fire Emblem series, you'll love the treatment that this game received. Highly recommend.

I almost over looked this title thinking it’s a classic RPG game, but instead there is a good story and missions that pop up as you play. Its a great hack n slash game and you level up. I don’t think this style of game is better on any other system than the Switch. Try it out on your Switch as the game simply pleases the soul. I give it a 9 out of ten.

It is pretty fun for a hack and slash, there is a story to keep things going and sometimes it is nice to just hack your way through mobs of enemies. Doesn't seem to heavy on strategy, but there is some to the game. Not your normal fire embelms game where you are turn based strategy
