I purchased the blu-ray 25th anniversary edition of Forrest Gump. The video picture is crystal clear on my Samsung 4K TV. The story is a masterpiece and is made even better as a result of three plus hours of additional special features. Enjoy this masterpiece!

I have never owned this movie and figured it’s about time. I was thinking about picking up the 4K edition, but I have read some reviews saying the transfer was not that good. I was hoping the 4K 25th Anniversary edition would get an upgrade. They only remastered the Blu-ray film. I’m ok with that, I don’t believe this movie requires to be in 4K. My 4K player upscales Blu-ray’s, so this will look great. I also wanted the SteelBook, because it looks pretty good! Only downer is.. there is no artwork on the inside, just plain tin. Still, great to finally have this, and $13. is well worth it!

I recommend this movie to everyone. You should watch it at least once in your lifetime, as this is the only movie of its kind. It's a special movie; Heart Warming, sad, funny, and happy all at once. It's a joy to watch Forrest go from his small town home, to playing football, then to Vietnam, to the creation of the smiley face and Apple, to his shrimp boat voyage, to the loss of his two true loves. If he was an ordinary man, he would not have made it through. This movie will rip at your heart, that is to say, if you have one.

First let me say that I'm not going to get worked-up over Tom Hanks' portrayal of a mentally handicap character. While Forrest was not the sharpest tool in the shed, his IQ was not more than two standards deviations below the mean. Besides, Mr. Hanks is an actor, and he was merely acting according to the way the author wrote the character, the way the director directed the character, and his own interpretation of both. This is an exceptional movie--still my all-time favorite. I haven't actually watched it in a while, but when I do, I'm moved every time. How can one not be moved by a character so ingenuous, so resilient, and so good? How can one not be moved by such an incredible story, so skillfully directed? Bad things sometimes happen to good people. "It happens," as Forrest said. Someone once said that "life is ten percent what happens and 90 percent how I react to it." Never has this truth been so accurately portrayed as in this wonderful movie, "Forrest Gump." "Is he smart, or is he. . . .?" That scene clinched the Oscar for Tom Hanks, and I still can't watch it without getting a big lump in my throat and tears in my eyes. Tom Hanks is the best, most versatile actor of our time, and never has he been more brilliant than he was in this movie. No one with a pulse can watch this movie and not be moved by it--perhaps even changed. I could not recommend any movie more highly.

I actually haven't watched this movie yet on 4K, I suppose it has the same up-tick in picture quality over typical 90's 35 mm film remasters that were out on blue-ray ten years ago. Probably not much to be gained in audio quality with nine channel sound. However if you haven't watched a version of this film ranging from VHS, DVD, blue-ray, to ultra blue-ray, you may want to buy the 4K and give it a try. This is likely the best version you'll ever see. The movie shouldn't be as popular as it is, but it just is, every one turned in a great performance, great sound track. It's probably in the top 25 quoted movies ever made, I've seen it dozens of times, and I'll watch it.....again.

A 4.3 for a movie that was made in 1994 is definitely reasonable. Instantly I was able to tell that this movie is 4K from when little forest was walking to the school and his foot got caught in the gutter. There is a fair amount of grain throughout the movie, but there are definitely parts that Will make you smile and give appreciation for having 4K in your home! The amount of grain is comparable To the amount of grain in Saving Private Ryan, but it is never overwhelming and you will definitely be able to look past the grain for the appreciation of the 4K graphics. However, the 4K graphics in Saving Private Ryan are absolutely incredible and the sound is better as well. If you can look past some grain you'll definitely be More than pleased purchasing Forrest Gump in 4K.

If you needed to know what American history entailed since the '50's, watch this movie. Tom Hanks fully deserved winning an Oscar for this role. Forrest Gump could've come off as a pathetic caricature, but in Hanks's hands, he becomes an everyman we can all relate to. One of my favorite scenes is where young Forrest, in leg braces, is running away from the bullies who want to beat him up for...existing, I guess. And when he's running away, when the leg braces EXPLODE OFF HIS LEGS...brilliant. He doesn't just overcome his disability, HE CRUSHES IT!

Such a simple yet classic movie told from a simple man. I have owned every edition of this movie and this is by far the best. The 4k version adds plenty of color and detail and while not all scenes make the grade, most definitely do. They are some great shots of landscapes throughout that really come to life with this version. And the Dolby atmos soundtrack does as well, especially during the Vietnam scenes. Not to mention the fantastic soundtrack and about 3 hours of extras, you have the definitive version of this timeless classic!

If you have not seen or don't like Forest Gump I don't know what to say for you, it is one of the best all time movies and a role I can't picture anyone but Tom Hanks pulling off. I have probably seen it over 100 times and I still find things I may not have noticed before or if I did it didn't click until this time, its that good... And a Steelbook Anniversary copy that was actually a Great Deal made this purchase easy... Please watch this movie.

The tale of a young boy from Alabama who faces the struggles of growing up being bullied for being simple, legs that don't quite work like everybody else's, and not having many friends. Over the course of the film Tom Hanks does a great job showing us Forrest Gump coming of age during some of our country's most memorable and trying tims as a nation. If you have never seen this movie, add it to your collection or queue.

Forrest Gump is a film that will endure through all ages, because it IS a story about innocence and its great power. Firrest Gump is a simple man who without any personal show of strength, without ego, and a totally naive outlook on humankind, becomes the true ideal of heroism. What's not love. If this film isn't in your home library, buy it, watch it, and wonder in its simple show of humanity.

If you have been living under a rock, and have not yet seen Forrest Gump, I highly recommend you do so. The 25th Anniversary blu ray looks excellent with better contrast and richer color than the 2009 “Sapphire Series” release. I did find this to be a tad darker though, so you may have to turn the brightness up a notch, especially if you have an oled. Otherwise it looks great.

The blu ray is newly remastered. The title character leads viewers through an accidental travelogue of U.S. social history from the early 1960s through the present in this revisionist fable. Vietnam, desegregation, Watergate, and more are presented from the perspective of loveably slow-witted Forrest Gump as he finds himself embroiled in situations he can't quite comprehend.

I had some concerns purchasing this Steelbook with the price.$13 is steep for a movie I have watched literally hundreds of times. I am absolutely satisfied with the quality of picture on Blu-ray. The picture shines in the Vietnam scene, where Forrest is writing to Jenny. The stats glare with beauty. The Steelbook looks like a pretty box of chocolates. I highly recommend .

2004 Oscar winner for Best Picture among other awards, is a fun, nostalgic, romantic comedy/drama with Tom Hanks in an Oscar winning performance. Traveling through time and experiences if a joy to watch with many dramatic and moving moments, that bring back lots of fond memories. Technology at it's highest level and then Blu-Ray and 4K look amazing. A DEF winner.

My primary reason for getting this was to house my 4K disc; with the recent 25th anniversary release, I found the cover and slipcover lacking in the "pleasing to the eyes" department and this steelbook took the best of the original white bench cover and the new bluish tint and made a very appealing design. Highly recommended, and it comes with digital copy!
