The Frigidaire Gallery 12000 works effectively to cool our home. It is in a large open room that is aporoximately 550 sq ft, our kitchen and dining room with a seating conversation area off to one side, and an open 6 ft wide archway on the far end that opens into a large livingroom. The main airconditioned space is kept very comfortable by this AC, it can get uncomfortably warm without it. The blower and airflow is fairly quiet, it has 4 fan settings and we find the #2 setting is adequate for circulation in our space. We do hear when the comporessor kicks in, not surprising with a 12000 BTU unit. There can be some vibration when the compressor is running, but this may be due more to the fact that it is installed in a 36" wide window opening in an older 2x4 framed wall than any problem with the AC unit itself -- the vibration may not be noticed if it was mounted in a 2x6 framed wall and/or a narrower window. The weather recently has been in the 80's and 90's and somewhat humid, and we have been very pleased with the comfort the AC provides, even with the double glass doors and two 18" wide windows on the southern exposure wall on a sunny day. We also have a Frigidaire Gallery 8000 BTU we installed in a smaller room a few years ago, and we are equally pleased with the performance and features of that unit. We have had no problems with either unit, and are very pleased. I would recommend these AC's for consideration if the size of your space is right for the BTU's.
