“From Hell” is a remarkable movie starring Johnny Depp as the main investigator in 1888, London England trying to solve the murders of “ladies in waiting” at the hands of “Jack The Ripper.” Depp’s acting is interesting, intriguing and really drives this version of “The Ripper” story that is vaguely based on Alan Moore’s graphic novel. This film also stars Heather Graham plays, whom plays ‘lady of the evening’ Mary Kelly (Kelly was a real life “lady in waiting” during the real murders in London). Graham has an interesting “cleaner look” than the other actresses playing evening ladies in this film. This is not a big thing; it is just something that is a quirky observation. Since this film is in fact derived from a graphic novel, the film offers a very unique perspective to the lore of what actually happen back in 1888 London. If a person is a really big “The Ripper” aficionado and is strict stickler to the actual facts of the original story, this film needs to be watched with a very open mind. If not watched with an open mind, this film can be a very big disappointment to the viewer. This movie will be thought provoking in some sort of way, it might even be a bit of a head scratcher during some parts, if you are on the fence about getting this movie or watching it, I say give it a shot.
