If you use it for Windows you have to reformat it. Someone posted a very easy to follow video, Copies over files quickly. Recognizes all devices quickly.

I really liked the rubberized case but did not like the available connections if was not using Serial ATA. The connection cables could be longer but functions perfectly for backing up mac hard drive and other data.

This is the only external drive I could find that worked easily with my Mac. Others are compatible but not as easy to use.

We purchased the 1TB G-Drive to backup footage on a recent documentary we were filming at Mt. Shasta, CA. We've used other drives in the past, and unfortunately have lost files, which is why we switched to G-Technology in the first place. Anyone who has ever accidentally lost data learns the hard way how important it is to have a back up drive. Yup-that was me. This was one was highly recommended by people I trust, and they weren’t wrong. A great product for the price.

Formatted this so I could move files between a Mac and my Linux systems. Have a more expensive G Tech drive and though it looks a little cheaper it works just as well.

Snagged this for the ex, ‘cause she doesn’t always put it in a safe spot. It does well of keeping the memories safe. Highly recommended

When plugged into USB3 port this drive works really well, the rubber padding is nice insurance in case of a drop (have not tested yet).
