It just works, although it could use more configurable time delays. It is a bit expensive though (a THIRD of the price of the Garmin Mini 3 dash cam!!), so I would probably get a cheaper cable next time. It’s just a hidden OBD cable. Any cable would work well enough for this…

I bought the Garmin Constant Power Cable to use with my Garmin X210 dash cam in my 2022 Bronco, mainly so I could enable the Parking Guard feature. After several months of use, it’s been exactly what I hoped for: a completely “install it once and never think about it again” solution. Even though the price looks a little steep at first glance, it’s one of those accessories that ends up paying for itself pretty quickly. Installation was simple enough, and once it was set up and tucked away, I genuinely haven’t had to touch it again. The connection has stayed solid, and the cable delivers consistent power whether the vehicle is running or parked. The Parking Guard feature has worked perfectly and it hasn't killed my car battery, even after leaving my car parked for a month (it won't turn the camera on if the battery is too low). That reliability is the main reason I bought it, and it hasn’t disappointed. Parking Guard was the main selling point for me, and the cable makes that feature truly useful. In fact, it’s already proven its value. While my Bronco was street-parked downtown, someone vandalized the front of the vehicle. The dash cam caught the entire incident because it stayed powered while the engine was off — something that wouldn’t have happened with a standard power setup. Having that footage made dealing with the aftermath much easier, and it alone justified the cost of the cable. A couple of other things are worth noting. It doesn’t add clutter to the interior once installed, and the cable feels well-made enough to handle long-term use. I’ve had zero disconnects, zero overheating, and no quirky behavior, even in hot weather or after hours of parked monitoring. It’s been as close to “plug it in and forget it” as you can get. Is it overpriced for what is essentially a specialized power cable? Honestly, a little. But given how well it works, and how essential continuous power is for features like Parking Guard, I think it’s worth it. For me, it’s become a set-and-forget part of my dash cam setup, and I wouldn’t use the camera without it.

The Garmin constant power cable makes it so easy to install your dash cam. No splicing or wires or having to mess around with the fuse box on your car. Simply plug into the obd plug (most all cars have this plug) and then plug in your dash cam. Easy to wire along the driver door molding. Took me less than 15 minutes. Wire is all hidden and looks 100% professional. Has a second USB plug, so you could also wire in a radar detector or other item that needs power and the wires could all be hidden for a great look.

The Garmin Constant Power Cable is a reliable accessory designed for users who need continuous power for their Garmin devices, such as dash cameras. This cable ensures that your device remains powered even during long trips, preventing interruptions in service or data recording. Its durable construction provides stability, and the easy installation process makes it a convenient addition for both personal and professional use. However, depending on the vehicle’s setup, the cable might require professional assistance for optimal installation. Overall, it’s a valuable investment for maintaining seamless operation of Garmin devices on the go.

Without an available cigarette lighter socket (and I don't want to use the USB port in my center console) this Garmin power supply OBD port plug powers my dash cam easily, and provides two (2) USB-A female receptacles.

Easy to use, can run two dash cams and allows for a wired setup with minimum effort. I have ran this on three different vehicles personally and gifted them to family members with Garmin Mini for a complete package. In my opinion it’s a must have and Best Buy should be stocking these or better yet Garmin providing them as a package (even if they have to charge a little more).

Purchased two of these, one for my wife's 2015 Hyundai and one for my 2023 Ford Bronco. Both were set for ten minute shutdown. Works perfectly on the Bronco but never shuts down on the Hyundai and completely discharges it's brand new battery. Will be sending it back.

Compliments my garmin dash cam well. Allows the garmin to take videos even when off. Good for a fulltime safety whenever theres motion while cars parked.

It works well and I like the option of choosing how long power will remain active. However, my gripe is the value. This should be included with the dashcam. Especially when you start getting into mid and higher end models Its kind of inexcusable that this isn't just included. I feel like the 50 dollar price point is roughly twice what this item should cost, or its value to me. It was a begrudged purchase once I figured out that I needed this to achieve my initial goal of continuous video capture when the vehicle is parked. My gripe is entirely with the pricing and that this was not included with a $250+ camera that advertises continuous video capture. So that 250+ turns into 300+ to get the advertised functionality of it. In terms of how it operates, its does its job. It feels incredibly cheap and flimsy, but for something you will hide away and never realistilly look at, its not a huge deal - but again for the price paid, it adds insult to injury.

It does the job but watch out for drawing off your battery of you leave this plugged in all the time

This little guy was able to help me connect both front and rear camera for my car and I have had zero problems so I'm thankful.

The constant power adapter is a necessary component for the operation of Garmin Dash Cmera.
