I have been using the Garmin 55 for 4 months now everyday in my car. This was my first Garmin Dashcam after 5 other cheap dashcams over 3 years from the A site that had to be returned, broke, or refunded under the extra warranty. Don't mess with those, I wasted so much time--just get this one. These things are complex and have to be top quality so you have video when you need it. In Los Angeles it is mandatory that you have a dash cam because everyone practices their “story” when they are in an accident—it will always be “your fault.” This Garmin is far superior to any others on the market--it's in a class by itself with the best resolution, size, weight, and menu operation. Garmin thought of everything including the great micro size and weight. It also comes with: Forward Collision Warning that works very well. Lane Watch: It over alerts because it is not connected to your turn signals. Traffic Moving Warning: It's a bit too sensitive. You can turn all of them off if you want with the menu settings. It’s also easy to snap a photo while you drive—the button is right on the camera. I mounted my camera right in front of me at the headliner and the cord is very long to wire all around. Buy a quality 64 GB micro card for it and put the settings on 60fps for the best resolution. The default is 30fps. I recommend buying the Best Buy extended warranty. These things running all the time in the sun with vibrations are subject to problems. In sum, you may have tried the rest...now try the best and get this one and stop worrying—you will have them on film. PS Here is a clip of Video from the Garmin I recently shot: https://youtu.be/TKzlRA5-ycs

Great dashcam, great picture and easy to use. My only complaint would be the collision warning etc, way to sensitive. When you are in traffic it keeps alerting you even when not needed. I turned it off. The voice command feature is awesome. Only sometimes when using your bluetooth or words from the radio make it save things you didnt want because it mistakes the command .

The Garmin Dash Cam55 (1440p HD) functions extremely well, is easy to operate, and for its small size produces excellent video. The high definition model is well worth the extra cost. I had it installed at a local Best Buy store technician for a total of about $75.00. This was done in a very professional manner, with virtually all the wiring hidden behind the car panels -- well worth the cost.

The dash cam is great and is easy to use. Very easy to setup also. Setting it up to pair with your phone after downloading the app is also easy to use but after that first initial phone pairing it tend to be combursome to pair with the phone again. It doesn’t just pair by itself like you would expect. Video quality is good and I like that this now records audio unlike the days cam 35 I had prior to this. But overall I like it. My fiancé has the 45 and she loves it.

The mount and set up with this Dash cam is simple. In no time at all it looked like a factory install. The alarms for lane and crash avoidance is reasonably accurate and not annoying. Overall a great buy.

The Garmin Dash Cam 55 was easy to set up and mount. It is so small that I don't even see it on the windshield. It has a 122º field of view so it's very wide without being a distorted fish eye view. It takes good, crisp images. I use the magnetic mount and never have to worry about the suction cup breaking or popping off the windshield at an inopportune time. I used this dash cam two years before writing the review and I'm very pleased with it.

The Garmin - Dash Cam™ 55 (1440p HD) has performed in an excellent manner - providing high-quality video during my driving. It gives lane departure, stop light signal and other warnings in real time. If there is a collision, it will record and store the video and time of the incident. This is a very high quality and good safety device.

Just put this dashcam thru initial test runs. Easy setup, great video. If one criticism, that would be that there is no suction cup mount available allowing easy movement between vehicles.

Excellent clarity. Nice Features. Only drawback is that additional magnet mounts for a second vehicle should be available to purchase at a reasonable price. Why spend $10 or more for the entire bracket when only a small stick on magnet is needed.

Great video and sound, time lapse feature is nice, the largest memory you can use is 64Gb kind of a downside but definitely not a deal breaker.

Excellent little dash cam. Works Great! I am going to purchase a larger Micro SD card for it. Hardly noticeable when mounted properly. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because of the mounting. It uses an adhesive magnetic piece that attaches to the windshield. It is PERMANENT like a rear view mirror mount. This means you have to purchase another magnetic base (or 2) if you plan to use it in different vehicles. Granted it it is a rock solid mount that you don't have to worry about falling off a hot windshield like a suction cup. I just wish there was a different type of mount that would satisfy the best of both worlds.

I bought the Garmin Dash Cam 55 because I drive a lot and because of the size. It works very well and let's you know when you cross over the white or yellow lines. The only complaint I have is the volume is not very loud for the warning tones. Other then that I would still purchase one.

Great video quality, forward collision warning and lane departure are a great addition to those cars without the latest technology.
