Has tons of running analysis info, coach feature, great battery life, helps keep track of calories, allows for customizable watch face. Definitely the better watch over Apple’s watch if you’re wanting to take better care of your health and maintain it.

Faaaaaavorite purchase in a very long time! I charge it every 5 or so days (even then, it’s at around 40-50%), and I have all of the features on (pulse ox, temp, etc.). I do wish they would allow for messages not to have to be on “visible” for them to go to watch. I work in a school and leave my phone out. Not that I’m getting inappropriate messages; you just don’t want anyone stopping to read all of your business. Garmin, can you fix that?? I had it turned off, and my texts were not coming through to the watch. Now, it’s on (& I’m careful about leaving my phone out), and they are coming through the watch. Overall, this is such an awesome watch - my husband has an Apple Watch, too, and he can’t stand charging it. I might get him a Garmin to track his sleep, workouts, etc. without the worry of having to charge it every night.

I'm someone how has transitioned from a FitBit Ionic and by 1000% this is sooooo much better. The features on this are endless and it took me a little while to get adjusted to how to operate it (I still struggle from time to time...lol). I got this model because I wanted the option to program and show race courses in addition to the pace pro strategies. I didn't need the top of the line Phoenix model which has the same features but a little extra pizazz which I didn't really need. The turn by turn directions are a wonder. I was in Florida on vacation and needed to run 13 miles. I had Garmin design me a random course around where I was staying to get me 13 miles. It found a looped course literally steps from my door and kept me on the sidewalk for 95% of the time avoiding having to run on the major streets. The battery life is fairly good. It may drain a lot on me because I run usually 6 days a week and I know GPS drains the battery. I've also used it for weightlifting, swimming and cycling and all appear to be fairly accurate with relation to stroke and distance/speed. I also think its pretty cool how it can guess what type of weightlifting exercise you are doing. I'd say its 50% accurate at predicting the exercise but that is to be expected. The only slight drawback to this watch is that the wrist based heart rate sensor is pretty inaccurate as I've read most wrist based HR is. I am normally a sub 20 minute 5K runner and on days where I would run easy paces 10 minutes or slower, it would say my heart rate was in the 180s although I felt completely fine and like I was walking. Getting a heart rate chest strap solved this issue. I have not had an opportunity to fully use all the features and really explore what all this watch has to offer but as of right now I'm 100% fine with what I have. If you're looking for a more advanced multisport watch but not trying to shell out a crazy amount of money, this is the way to go.

I also have an Apple Watch. The Apple Watch is a better smartwatch. It has a more vivid screen, better graphics, slick Apple integration but you pay a huge battery life penalty for that. You need to charge it everyday and I doubt it will last for a full marathon if you were tracking heart rate, using gps and streaming music. The Garmin has much better battery life and performance for fitness activities. The Garmin app is also excellent. I paired the watch with wireless headphones and a Garmin chest strap heart rate monitor to collect additional running dynamics data and more accurate heart rate. I’ve been using it mainly for running and sleep tracking data and it is much better that the Apple Watch for those tasks. You also don’t have to charge it if you wore it over night. It also syncs data immediately with Strava when you link your accounts. I gave it 4 stars because I prefer the Apple Watch for everyday use. However, for fitness purposes it gets 5 stars.

This is a great activity tracker! I bought the Forerunner 310XT in 2007 and still use it, but I wanted one for swimming--this is fantastic! I wouldn't trust any other brand!

Great watch, GPS tracking has significantly improved but I find my self more impressed with the Instinct based on size an weight. The multi sport function of the forerunner however is great when running a triathlon.

This is a great watch. The only complaint i have is that, despite it being advertised as having a smaller face, the watch is HUGE. The dimensions mentioned in the specs refer to the viewable portion of the screen. The watch is very bulky but also very light.

The features on this watch are just absolutely amazing, picks up the location instantly, monitors heart rates, oxygen levels, and various exercise mode. I've had this watch just over 6 months and I'm starting to notice it's not charging properly anymore. Previous garmin watches have the clip charger which this one snsps directly into the back which kind of doesn't allow the watch to lay flat when charging so I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the connection not being properly seated and the watch not charging. Presently I have to have the watch seated in a certain position in order for her to charge consistently.

I have a fenix 5x. It is built like a tank and great for any outdoor adventures. The 945 has many if the same features (and additional features). I use the 945 for IM training and events bc it is so much lighter. I highly recommend this watch

The watch was perfect but a little to complicated for just the everyday runner so I downgraded to the 645. The biggest difference between the two to me is that the 945 can monitor old oxygen levels, has a longer battery life and has the capabilities to upload maps. This is good for someone thats constantly training for marathons but if you just run cause you enjoy it and enter the occasional 5k and 10k then this could be a little much for you. All in all a great watch!

Although expensive, this watch is perfect for the dedicated athlete. Perfect for triathlon training. Huge upgrade over the ionic I had from fitbit. Gps tracking is superb.

Easily the best running watch I've ever owned. It is expensive but worth the price if you are a hardcore athlete and/or runner. The new music and credit card features are game-changing. If you are a nerd about analytics and want to get the best information about your activity and become the best athlete you can be, get this watch. Also, the battery life is AMAZING and is probably the main reason to get it over an apple watch. Also because the analytics are much better than any apple watch ever.

I am a fan of Garmin, so wanted to try the FR 945. Loved the weight and the build quality is really good, even with it being plastic. I decided to return it, only because got wind that the FR 955 was coming out, so going to hold off until then. I would have kept the FR 945 if not the case and would have been really happy!

Worked great for a few months then it started to continuously disconnect and reconnect from my phone (it would do this sometimes every few seconds causing it to vibrate nonstop). I would recommend this watch and consider my issue a one time thing but when searching for a way to fix my issue I found many other users having similar troubles
