For those who have experience with the prior Foretrex series; you will enjoy this one. I found myself really savy from plotting waypoints, to grabbing mgrs locations, and creating routes. It was great for my last 10 day exercise, durable and was shocked how good the batteries lasted. I also kept switching to watch mode when I was not actively using this gadget, so that saved the batteries. two AAAs lasted the entire time. I just swapped them out for the heck of it on the last night. Also, lots of people cry about the glare, just wear it in the inside of your wrist (problem solved). NVG mode was great. Obviously you have to focus in on your wrist from the perception of the NVGs to walk, but yeah, it is a great new feature.

I have purchased this device because it features GPS, GLONASS and Galileo satellites. It is excellent for pilots, skydivers, trail runners, and it is usable in many different environments. The main reason I got this device, is to use it for measuring rail launch speeds and trajectory, for a project I am currently working on. It connects with ease to a smartphone or tablet, and it also displays notifications when paired with a phone or tablet. It is a funky but very powerful and useful device.

Its very good for route tracking while hiking. The barometer and altimeter are a nice addition too. Dont expect maps though and wish it would pair with other garmin devices.

If you need MGRS, or if you are just taking a hike, this is one of the best options for you. Includes jumpmaster, and live track, two excellent features. Super easy to use, tons of functions. Recommend!

Seems to be very accurate and built very tough, great purchase. Not fancy, has just what you need.

So far, this has been an upgrade to my old 401 in Every way. I'm going to go out to do field training for two weeks soon, so I'll know more shortly.

My stepson's friend is in the Army and he suggested to buy it for hunting to navigate in the woods. So I did buy it and found it indeed quite useful. Cool and useful gadget

My stepson is in the US Army, and he advised me to buy it for hunting. So I did, and it works solidly. The only issue is the wrist band could have been made a little better but maybe my hands are too slim.
