very compact with higher power output and bigger antenna surface than InReach Mini 2, so it should have a better chance to communicate with satellites thru forest canopy. tested it in the mountains past weekend with check-in messages going back and forth within second.

Valuable device for wilderness safety when no cell service is available. The connected app works great. Service plan is somewhat expensive but it could literally save your life with all the dead zones everywhere still.

I am looking forward to traveling farther into areas with no or spotty cellpho0ne coverage, as the Garmin - inReach Messenger 1.08" GPS with Built-In Bluetooth - Black will give me the chance to call for help over satellites if needed.
Light weight, compact and easy to carry and use. Haven't tested the primary feature yet thankfully

A simple little device that makes it easy to check in and send texts while in the backcountry. The device is great, but keep in mind Garmin demanded a monthly charge for using it, plus a setup fee.

Works perfectly as described for messages, weather, and tracking. Battery life as expected with the amount of use. We used tracking during the day and turned off the device at night to conserve battery. You do have to have the subscription to use, which is clear in the product description. Have not had to use the SOS function (*knock on wood*).

Gave my wife peace of mind when I was out of phone service hunting in the mountains

Garmin claims 28 day battery life. I don’t know if it uses more power searching for satellites like cellular does but I camped in a bit of a canyon. It took I long time to send messages and my battery was down to 13% after 4 days.
