A: The compressors on these fridges are faulty. Trust me, mine been sitting dead for months waiting on service when it failed after 6 months. Tech says GE knows they're all bad and having to replace them.
Q: What is the height for the back of this fridge? Looks like there are no hinges.
A: The hinges are in the front for the doors, so the total height (product height) will include the front of the fridge with the hinges and 1/8" to spare. I just rounded up to 70" for total height. For the back of the fridge (height without hinges) it's 68 5/8". So, as long as you have at least 69" or more space from the bottom of your cabinets to your floor, this fridge will fit height-wise.
Q: Does this refrigerator have an ice maker?
A: Yes, the refrigerator has an icemaker. The on/off switch is in the freezer behind the icebin. Makes alot of ice.
Q: If there is not a filter in it will it still run
A: Hello. Thanks for reaching out! You must use the filter bypass plug when a replacement filter cartridge is not available. The dispenser and the icemaker will not operate without the filter or filter bypass plug. Some models do not come equipped with the filter bypass plug. To obtain a free bypass plug call 800-GECARES. A: Hi there, We're more than happy to provide an answer to your question! Bottom freezer and french door refrigerators have a water reservoir coil in the fresh food section that cools 16 oz. of water. The water is chilled and stored until it is needed. Since the reservoir is in the fresh food section, the water will not be ice-cold. The first time the dispenser is used, the chilled water lever may need to be pressed for two to three minutes to fill the reservoir for the first time. It takes approximately seven seconds to fill an eight ounce glass with water. After the 16 oz. of cold water is dispensed, any additional water dispensed will not be chilled until the water in the coil tubing has had time to chill again. Models with a Hot Water Dispenser have a separate stainless tank that holds 22 ounces of hot water, which dispenses hot water in 10 oz increments. The temperature must be set again to dispense additional hot water. Water is fed into the hot water tank independently from the cold water. Let us know if you have any additional questions. Q: Can you get it without an ice maker?
A: Yes, you can.
A: I measured the fridge itself and the smaller dimensions are sound. However, you don’t want to push the unit flush with the wall and oddly enough I have mine 2 inches from the wall and it resides the full 37 and 7/8 from the back of the wall to the handle.

This fridge is the bomb.
Fridge is big. Can now fit all the groceries in without doing a jig saw puzzle. The ice maker makes nice cubes. I like the water dispenser on the inside, ive heard the door ones cause a lot of issues. Been saving a lot on water bottles too by drinking. Water filters are under $50 with the 6 month re accuring plan. Also paid for delivery which worked out great. Freezer drawer is a little tough to open and close. Makes a weird noise like a motor reving up and lowering periodically. Other than that its dope.

Good fridge, good price
Nice big fridge. I was looking for something that had good interior space, ice maker in the freezer and water inside the fridge. Many industry reviews stated that the ice maker and water dispenser located in the door are common repairs but I still wanted the feature. The ice maker works good and so does the water. The only problem is the water dispenser doesn't give much clearance so it's almost impossible to put anything except a regular cup. Even mugs are too thick to fit. I don't know if that's an installation flaw or if the design is meant to be that way. The interior space is massive. I can fit a full size baking sheet sideways or 2 13x9 glass pans. I wish there were more options to fit tall items in the door. The door shelves are good but you can't really customize them. The door alarm is cool and I'm realizing how often my family was leaving the door open, which was probably why my old fridge broke, lol.

Good refrigerator and great customer service.
I really like the design. It is very user friendly in that the glass shelves and the deep, clear door boxes make things easy to find. The temperature controls are easy to use and accurate. The retractable shelf helps organize tall items. The ice maker is very easy to access in the freezer drawer. This refrigerator replaced a similar 15 year old GE refrigerator that stopped freezing. Unfortunately the first replacement had issues but Best Buy immediately replaced that replacement. I am very happy with the customer service and with my new refrigerator.
