Great overall follow up from the original story wise. Old characters still the best in my opinion. I guess is nostalgia but even at an old age Marcus looks intimidating.

I was very disappointed with this game it was a very quick run through it didn't seem like there was a whole lot to it seeing as it's the new Xbox One platform it's mostly just movies and not as much gaming all that extra gigabytes you have to download to your hard drive is for like movies and not gaming so the game is mostly a movie and the gaming part makes leaves you feeling short-changed especially since they changed it up and the characters really did not fit the story

I just beat GOW4 on PC. The graphics so great especially on ultra with 1440p res. I must say this is one of the best and most polished PC games in 2016 with so many graphical options available from the get go and it maintains about 80 - 100 fps with my GTX 1080. Story wise, GOW3 is better...and with better and longer ending cinematic scene as well. I don't like the ending of GOW4. It is really short like they didn't put any effort at all. But gameplay wise, it is great just like GOW1 - 3.

I've been a Gears fan since the original. Gears 4 is amazing. Great story. Intense action and great graphics. Playing on a 4k TV with HDR is the beat way to go. Also love that it came with codes for all the previous games to add to my Xbox one library with backwards compatability. Pick it up if you're a Gears fan or want something different than all the first person shooters.

Gears 4 is another great entry in one of my favorite series on the Xbox and across all consoles in general. Fun brutal combat and, new and returning characters all provide a unique story that's both new and familiar at the same time. This all provides hours of fun even before you get to the excellent multi-player and with Co-op story mode bringing back my favorite part of gaming which is the couch Co-op experience

I am a huge Gears of War fan, don't get me wrong. But man, this game is a little disappointing. It's not a bad game by any means, it's just not the best Gears Of War game out there. The gameplay is similar to what you've come to expect from this series, some of the new weapons aren't too shabby (I really like the Overkill). The campaign is pretty good, but I felt like it was way too short, and by the end of it you're just left wanting a little more. I felt like the first act was more or less just filler. Multiplayer is very identical to past Gears titles, and a big thing this time around is all the micro-transactions. In the past, when you leveled up via multiplayer or for completing the campaign you were awarded with character skins and such, but not anymore. All of your multiplayer unlocks come from these "packs" that are randomly generated. Now, you CAN earn credits towards buying them, but it takes a while, not to mention most of the time when you open a pack there's a pretty good chance it will be a duplicate item or a stupid emblem. If you don't want to grind, you can always buy these packs for real world money. All in all, buy it, just wait on a sale.

Made by a new Microsoft first party development studio "The Coalition" consisting of some of the original developers from the original Gears trilogy. This is arguably the best game in the series. Built from the ground up for Xbox One. This game takes full advantage of the systems capabilities with sharp graphics and fast and fluidic gameplay. Third person cover based shooting never felt so good. The story is a continuation of the originals with new likable characters filled with personality and returning fan favorites. Play as a single player or cooperatively with a friend. Features multiplayer gameplay with 60 frames per second and in-your-face visceral gameplay. Lots of new weapons and plenty of maps and game modes to keep you busy for hours at a time. No gears of war fan or even skeptic should sleep on this title.

This game kinda keeps the old elements of the first gears of war. With the same mechanic system of duck and shoot and run. But only thing different I notice since I started playing the game it requires that you keep up with the fast pace story and some parts do require a little thought process on how to complete each stage of the game. Only part keeping it from a five out five is the online play. I had no idea that it requires 32 gb for updates. It's no big deal for those who have unlimited internet but for those who have a cap broadband its going to hurt folks who want to play this game online. So my advice if you got a cap for your internet be ready to sign into your profile and then turn off your internet and just play offline. If only Microsoft would care for gamers with limited internet and just give out small updates that would work better. But over all the story line is epic and deserves more good talk and I plan on finishing the previous game as well now that its backwards compatible on xbox one.

I have always been a fan of the series. So this game was a must have from first hearing about it. The action is good, the grapghics have always been good. Story is whatever. But still the game is a must-have in the xbox library. And for less than 20, it’s a disservice not to own this game.

I've been playing gears of war since the first game released in 2006, and although there have been some stumbles lately (looking at you GoW: Judgement), the series is back and better than ever. The gameplay feels smooth and balanced. New weapons and maps are mostly fun for the multiplayer. The the single player campaign, while not revolutionary, is what to expect from gears of war. I've probably played over 75 hours since the game released a month ago, and I don't see myself slowing down any time soon. If you own an Xbox One, you owe it to yourself to pick this title up.

They have released yet another great volume in the Gears of War series. Whether you've been following the story with the previous games, or if this is your entry game into the series, this one is not to be missed.

The Gears of War series is probably why a lot of gamers buy a XBOX console with myself being one of them. I have played and own every one of the games which are great in their own unique style and story. The graphics and sound are superb, especially when played on a XBOX One X. Controls are essentially the same as previous releases. The story doesn't have quite the same "magic" like the first two games but does get better when Marcus Fenix gets back into the action. The game I purchased had downable codes for Gears of War 1, 2, 3 and Judgement so that's five excellent games for the price of one! Just check the front cover for the info about the bonus games before buying. A must-have for any Gears fan or Xbox owner!

The story is mainly about Marcus Phoenix's son but they join up later in the game along with other new characters to fight off even more deadly enemies than before. There is plenty of action as expected with excellent graphics and sound. The game starts off a little slow but picks up after a short time. It's a great game for any Gears fan and will hold you until Gears 5 comes out in September!
