Customer Ratings & Reviews

The Pixel Watch at this point is what I’d consider to be the go-to watch for Android, especially if you have a Pixel phone. The Watch 5 improvements over the Watch 4 mostly amount to a spec bump and most of what was true of the Watch 4 is also true of the Watch. So if you have the Watch 4 you don’t need to run out and buy the Watch 5, but if you have something older you’ll notice an improvement for sure. The Pixel Watch 5 is a snappy performer with a great display and battery life that goes for 2+ days. My Pixel Watch 5 is the 45mm model with a silver case and the ‘Fog’ band, which is a white color with just the subtlest hint of blue. The silver case will pair well with many different colors and styles of watch bands and it’s compatible with anything that worked with the Pixel Watch 3 and 4 45mm models. The watch is fairly light and the included band is comfortable on my wrist, though I’d recommend getting the Performance Loop band at some point for extra comfort and adjustability. The physical controls consist of a rotating crown and a single button for navigation and quick actions. The magnetic charging pins are on the side of the case and it sits on the included charger kind of like a mini alarm clock. The display and glass are unchanged on the Watch 5 from the Watch 4, but that display looked great and this one does too. There are bezels, but most of the watch faces hide it well with the OLED display. It gets bright and is easy to see on sunny days. The front watch face does not have any raised bezels, so that is something to be aware of if you do a lot of rough work wearing it, but in the year I’ve had my Pixel Watch 4 it’s only accumulated one barely noticeable scratch. I haven’t used any cases or screen protectors and while I did try to be mindful of it, it was not uncommon for me to knock or rub it against a surface by accident. So I feel confident the Watch 5 will hold up just as well. I set up the Pixel Watch 5 on my Pixel 11 Pro using the Pixel Watch app. Your mileage may vary on other Android phones, but on my Pixel it was pretty seamless. I was able to transfer all of my Google account and payment info directly from my phone and the only piece of information I had to reenter was the security codes for my payment cards. The whole process took about 15 minutes. The Pixel Watch can also update the watch faces and other settings as well, which saves a little effort versus doing that stuff on the smaller watch screen. The Pixel Watch 5 ships with the latest Wear OS and if you haven’t used a Wear OS watch in a while it’s improved a lot from the early days. Navigating with the crown and button works well and the interface and app loads are very quick on the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 Accelerated. You also get some gesture controls with double finger pinches, wrist turns, and raise to talk and those all work pretty well, though they do take a little getting used to. The included watch faces look great and have lots of customization for how they look, what color they are, and what widgets are shown. Most of the popular apps you’d expect are there, though I’m still sad to see there’s no Apple Music app for Wear OS. For health and step tracking, you get 3 months of Google Health Premium (formerly Fitbit Premium). You get all the basic step, sleep, and activity tracking without the subscription, but the Premium tier includes an AI Coach, access to workout routines, and meditation/guided breathing sessions. I’ve been using the AI Coach to get ready for a half marathon and it’s actually not terrible and it does a decent job of keeping me on task and working towards my goals. You can also load your medical records into the Health app for additional insights, though I personally don’t trust Google or any company enough to hand over that level of personal information. The Watch 5 does a great job of detecting and categorizing activities without having to activate them. One of the key improvements for the Watch 5 is supposed to be its GPS tracking, but I have not had an opportunity to really test that as I’m mostly running on a treadmill at this point. The battery life on the Pixel Watch 5 is fantastic. I don’t sleep with my watch, so it’s getting charged most days, but I end most days with 70+% battery left. I could easily see this making it 2 days without needing to recharge. It charges up quickly too, so it’s easy to keep it topped in between things like showers. Overall I’m extremely happy with the Pixel Watch 5. If you have the Pixel Watch 4 you could skip the 5, but for anybody else who doesn’t have an iPhone this feels like the best general choice for a smart watch.

After owning quite a few smartwatches over the years, the Pixel Watch 5 is the first one that immediately felt like a device I'd want to wear every day. Right out of the box, the experience feels premium. The packaging is clean and well organized, and when I lifted the watch out for the first time, the polished silver case really caught my attention. The Fog Band has a subtle look that works with just about anything, whether I'm at work, out running errands, or heading to the gym. It's one of those products that looks even better in person than in the marketing photos. The setup is refreshingly simple. I had it paired with my Pixel 8 Phone and customized it within a few minutes. Everything synced quickly, including my notifications, calendar, and fitness data, which made the transition from my previous Pixel Watch 2 painless. The 45mm size is perfect for me. The larger display makes it much easier to read messages, view workout stats, and interact with apps without making the watch feel oversized. It's also surprisingly comfortable. I wear it through workdays, workouts, and overnight for sleep tracking and often forget it's even on my wrist. What stands out most is how polished the overall experience feels. The screen is bright and crisp, performance is smooth, and I haven't experienced any lag when switching between apps or responding to notifications. Calls and text messages come reliably, and Google's ecosystem integration feels seamless. Battery life is better than I expected. With notifications, fitness tracking, sleep monitoring, and occasional GPS usage, I'm consistently getting through a full day without worrying about charging. That's been a huge improvement compared to some of the smartwatches I've owned in the past. The fitness and health features have also become part of my daily routine. Workout tracking is accurate, and the sleep insights are genuinely useful. It's one of the few wearables where I actually look forward to checking my stats each morning. If I had one complaint, it would be the charging system. The watch uses a proprietary charging puck instead of standard wireless charging. It's not a deal breaker, but it does mean I need to remember to pack the specific charger when traveling. I can't just drop it onto one of the wireless chargers I already have around the house, which feels like a missed opportunity. Pros: Premium unboxing experience. Beautiful, polished silver design. Comfortable and lightweight for a 45mm watch. Bright, sharp display. Fast and responsive performance. Long battery life. Useful fitness and sleep tracking. Excellent integration with Pixel and Android devices. Cons: One of the more expensive smartwatches. Some advanced features may require subscriptions. Proprietary charging adapter instead of universal wireless charging. Final Verdict: After several weeks of daily use, Pixel Watch 5 has exceeded my expectations. It looks great, performs flawlessly, and has become a device I genuinely rely on throughout the day. While I wish Google had gone with standard wireless charging, that's a minor complaint compared to everything the watch gets right. If you're an Android user looking for a smartwatch that combines style, comfort, and functionality, the Pixel Watch 5 is an easy recommendation and earns a well-deserved five stars from me.

Look and feel ----------------------- Pixel watch 5 is one of the best looking watches in the market. It’s so sleek, stylish and looks amazing on the wrist. The Actua 360 display (3D curved domed circular glass display) is the highlight of its elegance. It completely hides the underlying aluminum material, giving it an exquisite look. The soft touch coating on the band makes it comfortable to wear all day long. Google has made great strides with watch faces, with the latest Pixel Watch 5 sporting some gorgeous ones. The 45mm size is perfect on the wrist for reading through the notifications and giving some quick responses. I was using a 41mm model previously which felt fine, but the change to 45mm made a world of difference. If you are deciding between the 41 and 45mm, I would recommend the 45mm hands down, especially given the small price difference. The 1.46 inch display is perfect for reading notifications and the AMOLED LTPO display produces stunning display at 320 ppi. The watch is perfectly usable under bright sun thanks to its peak brightness of 3000 nits. Fitness & Sleep tracking --------------------------------------- The watch succeeds in accurately tracking the activity and it has a whole range of activities that it can track. I was able to test the walk and run activities which it tracks correctly. However, I don’t like it when the watch asks my input to confirm if I am walking outdoors or on treadmill. Sometimes when I don’t give an input, the tracking is lost. I really wish google fixes this as this is the only annoying factor in this watch. Sleep tracking is pretty accurate as far as the overall sleep time is concerned. It also details the analysis of deep sleep, light sleep, REM and awake. Battery Life ---------------------- Battery life is the star of the show! The battery lasted for 45 hours going from 100 to 15% and recharged back to 100% in just an hour and 10 minutes. The watch was on me for that entire duration (except for 30 mins of shower time) which included activity and sleep tracking plus plenty of time exploring the new features. Health Metrics ----------------------------- The watch gives accurate readings of oxygen levels, heart rate variations, breathing rate, skin temperature variation, resting heart rate. It can also give alerts for irregular heart rhythms and call emergency service when a loss of pulse, an accident or a hard fall is detected. Google has also advertised tracking blood pressure trends and insulin resistance which is coming in Sep 2026 which I am eager to see how it functions. Hardware and Gemini AI integration ----------------------------------------------------------- The pixel watch 5 runs on Wear OS 7 and a Qualcomm Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 processor with 3GB RAM and 64 GB internal memory which is quite an upgrade to its predecessor. The watch is very smooth to operate and has a fast response. This upgrade comes in handy for its Gemini AI integration. The “raise to talk” is a useful feature, which can do things like calling people, starting / pausing / ending activity, setting timers and most importantly answering questions. The pinch gestures are a welcome addition and I have seen them working almost flawlessly on this watch. Pairs Perfectly with Pixel devices ------------------------------------------------------------ This watch can work with any android phone (Android 12 or above); however, it works seamlessly with a pixel phone. Most of the things are perfectly synced between the two devices and the watch feels like an extension of the phone on your wrist. The watch setup was pretty easy and just had to follow the step by step instructions on the watch. Conclusion ------------------------- This is a perfect watch for all your needs if you are in the Android ecosystem - especially with a Pixel device in your pocket, look no further. Highly recommend this watch for its style, elegance, sophistication, performance and usefulness.

I’ve been a fan of the Pixel Watch since the Pixel Watch 3, and after using the Pixel Watch 4, I was curious to see what Google could improve with the Pixel Watch 5. The only real reason I upgraded was because my 4 was the moonstone blueish color and I found that it wasn’t as versatile with bands and the lugs. I’m glad they didn’t mess with the design. I love the simple round look of the 45mm version. It looks good on the wrist, doesn’t feel cheap, and you can completely change the look with different bands and watch faces. I normally put a leather band on mine when I want it to look a little nicer, although my current one is getting pretty rough and needs to be replaced. The band that comes with the watch is actually very comfortable, including when sleeping. Battery life has been a non-issue for me. I charge it every morning when I get in the shower, wear it all day, sleep with it on, and repeat. That’s really all I need. The idea of getting around 40 hours sounds good in theory as a feature, but it doesn’t really change anything for me. I’m not going to suddenly charge my watch halfway through the next day, so a full day plus sleep is what matters. Sleep tracking is probably my favorite part of the watch. I like waking up, having it figure out that I’m up for the day, and getting my morning brief with my sleep and readiness scores. I’ve actually found myself paying attention to those numbers and looking at how changes in my habits affect my sleep. Google says some of the health and tracking features are more accurate this time around, but I can’t say I’ve personally noticed a difference. I’ve mainly been tracking steps and outdoor walks lately, and everything seems accurate. The GPS routes look right when I check them afterward, but I’m taking different routes and haven’t done any kind of side-by-side comparison. Performance has been smooth, although that’s something I could already say about my Pixel Watch 4. I also don’t spend a lot of time running apps on my watch. If I want to use Gemini or dig into a Google app, I usually just pull my Pixel out of my pocket. I haven’t tried the offline Gemini features yet because I really haven’t had a reason to. My biggest annoyance was actually getting everything set up. For some reason, going from one Pixel Watch to another never seems to go smoothly for me. I usually end up unpairing the old one, resetting things and basically starting from scratch. It’s not hard, but it is annoying. You’d think replacing one Pixel Watch with another would be about as painless as it gets considering the all Google ecosystem, but for me at least, it isn’t. The one decision I would change is buying the Wi-Fi/GPS model instead of LTE. Since I have Google Fi and could add the cellular watch without another monthly charge, LTE would have been really useful. I’d love to go for a walk or run a quick errand without bringing my phone. Instead, my phone is still coming along in my pocket. That’s obviously not a knock against the GPS version since I knew what I was buying, but if I were ordering again, I’d get LTE. Overall, this is a 5-star watch for me. The 45mm size looks great, the design is clean and simple, and I really like how easily it can go from looking like a fitness watch to something I can wear dressed up. Add in the health and sleep tracking and it’s a great everyday smartwatch. If you’re buying your first Android smartwatch, the Pixel Watch has been my favorite since the Pixel Watch 3. If you have an older Pixel Watch, especially something before the Pixel Watch 3, I’d have no problem recommending the 5. If you already have the Pixel Watch 4 though? Man, I’d probably stick with what you’ve got and see what Google comes up with next.

Upgraded from a Pixel Watch 3 45mm. This one somehow feels lighter and less noticeable on the wrist. The new charging dock is nice. Battery life has been 2 days with always on display. The domed display is nice but feels fragile. I think I'd prefer a flat, more durable design. Also wish the second button was programmable for single press, double press, and hold. I'd use it to launch flashlight. I never use it to access my recent apps.

Better than Samsung watch. Great battery life. Great app features.

The watch design is amazing. I live the round design. After coming from iPhone/Watch combo now with fold 8/pixel watch 5 combo

Could be a little more rugged looking. Fits well.

So quick to charge. They want at least 50 characters for my gift card

I have owned a bunch of smart watches throughout the years (anyone remember Samsung Gear S?) and it just amazes me how much this category has evolved and improved. I feel like this new Pixel 5 is like wearing a miniaturized smart phone on your wrist. After using my Pixel Watch 5 for a few weeks now, it feels like Google finally found its rhythm. I almost want to state again that it is not just a smartwatch: it’s a quiet, confident companion (accessory if you wish) to your Pixel phone that blends intelligence, health awareness, as well as design into something that feels genuinely personal at least to me. I really like its curved design and build quality, it looks like it belongs on my wrist and the 45 mm looks just right. Another thing I noticed was the display. According to Google, it measures at 3000 nits, I mean it’s shockingly bright, not “nice outdoors” bright, but “effortless in full Virginia sun” bright. The Actua 360 panel (which was first introduced on Pixel Watch 4) makes every glance feel crisp and intentional and the polished silver case gives it a refined, almost jewelry‑like presence. Let's talk "performance" as I think this is where the watch feels transformed. It is crazy to think that this watch has a processor none like the Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 and Gemini Intelligence make interactions fluid in a way previous Pixel Watches never really achieved. I really like that I can raise my wrist, ask a question, get an answer instantly. It’s the first time Google’s AI feels like it belongs on your wrist instead of your phone. Now most of us get these smart watches not just for time. I enjoy checking all the health features this watch offers. Health tracking is where this watch becomes meaningful to me. If you ever tried Google Health’s adaptive coaching, it feels less like a fitness app and more like a mentor in a way. You will see that it learns your patterns, your energy, your sleep (it took me a few days to get used to sleeping with the watch though), your recovery. I enjoy how it nudges me with suggestions that feel human, not algorithmic. Pixel Watch 5 also incorporates sensors for skin temperature and conductance, so your health tracking gains a subtle depth that feels far more advanced. I cannot wait till we see a generation of watches that also can report your blood sugars and warn you about your highs and lows. I think its battery life is finally where it needs to be, 40 hours is definitely nice however I feel like 3-5 day battery should be here by now. The 15‑minute quick charge is even better, it turns battery anxiety into a non‑issue. Now is it perfect? Not quite. Wear OS still has moments of friction. And while the Fog Band is comfortable, it’s not as premium as the case deserves. But the overall experience is cohesive, thoughtful, and surprisingly nice. It feels like a watch that wants you to succeed not by overwhelming you with data, but by guiding you with clarity. Here is what I think about it: The Pixel Watch 5 is Google’s most mature, most helpful, and most "human" wearable yet. It’s a beautifully designed health‑first smartwatch that finally delivers on the promise of AI‑powered personal guidance if you are into it (i.e. AI). If you are deep in the Google ecosystem or simply want a watch that feels like a partner rather than a gadget, this is the one.

I had always been someone who resisted smart watches, as, well, I am a “watch guy,” which complicates things, but after moving to a Pixel Watch 4 last year, I have really come to appreciate what it offered. I think it is more of the same here, maybe more of a tick or iteration rather than a complete upgrade over the 4, but I think it is great, nonetheless. Design wise, as I said, I am watch guy, so while many smart watches go with the square look, I just prefer the round display. It just “looks” and feels like a watch to me. Beyond that, I like the size (45mm variety), rounded dome, small-ish bezels, and the display. It is a good size, everything is crisp, and it gets quite bright. Easy to read, day (even outside) and night. It (as well as the crown) is responsive, and I found accurate to the touch. If I had one dig here, I wish Google would upgrade the display material. It is a bit prone to scratches, and for a device that has such an overall premium feel to it (and price) I think this is a miss. That said, beyond that concern, I think it is built very well, has a nice weight, does have that premium feel, and should hold up over time. Lastly, the band is comfortable for me. I may explore some other options, color-wise, but out of the box the band is more than good enough. Battery life, while not top in class, has been very good. It really depends on use case, but I more or less can easily get two-ish days from it if needed. Regardless, it charges quick and I found getting into a routine with it was simple. Some may not love the charger design, but I think it works well. Give it a chance. I get zero battery anxiety, and, as a whole, I don’t have any concerns with the battery. While I like all of that, I think the software is where this watch really excels. WearOS has really evolved, and it is quick, intuitive, and easy to navigate. It is also functional and fun. There are many, many…many customizations and watch faces to choose from and I really like being able to dig in and get everything exactly to my liking. Further, I really like what they have done on the health and workout front. While there are more dedicated and health focused devices out there, this is perfect for me and what I am looking for. I really appreciate the sleep data, as well as how well it, the health, and the fitness data track (there is a LOT of data, with more health coming soon, fingers crossed) and give a nice macro picture of what I am doing. It is easy, simple, and just works. Lastly, and perhaps most importantly to me, I love the integration with all of my Google services. I am a Google guy, and this seamlessly fits into the ecosystem. It not only makes my day to day easier, but also more efficient. I have access to all of my accounts, data, home, log ins, notifications, assistant, etc…in one place. It is just, in a word, helpful. Beyond all of that, it has great haptics, and audio is “loud” and clear. I also like some of the gesture and ease of use things they have implemented. (double pinch, wrist turn, always on). They have also done some nice safety work, both health-wise with high and low heart alerts, lack of pulse detection, etc… as well as crash detection and satellite SOS emergency help. This is all nice to see. In the end, i think this is a great smart watch and I like it. It is comfortable, looks good, is built well, has solid battery life, and performs very well. It does an excellent job with sleep, health, and fitness data, not only being accurate and reliable, but also in how it organizes and shows that data. Lastly, it fits perfectly into my ecosystem. This is probably not a hot take, but I think it is probably (still) the best Android watch out there and a good choice for most people. It does come at a premium price, so there is a value AND upgrade discussion to be had (as well as WiFi versus LTE); but, for me, how I use it, and what I get from it, the value is there.

TLDR: An evolutionary step up from the Pixel 4. PROS Seamlessly integrated with Google Phones Enhanced Google Gemini Integration More Comprehensive Health Metrics Clear speaker and audio CONS Poor battery life compared to others Random stutters and freezing SET-UP Setting up the Watch 5 after using my Watch 4 for over a year was a simple process. Remove and reset your watch and then follow the instructions on the Watch 5. Google walks you through the entire set-up process. I chose not to back-up my old watch and to start fresh with the Watch 5. No worries. Set-up was pain and fuss-free. After connecting to my Pixel 10 via Bluetooth, the phone transferred all pertinent information to the Watch 5 and it logged into my Google account, logged into Wi-Fi, and started syncing all my Health and data metrics from my phone. Simple and effective. Once the initial set-up and configuration processed, the Watch 5 reached out and downloaded 3 separate updates. One to the OS and 2 for the various apps and sensors. It went quick and without issue. USE Coming directly from the Pixel Watch 4, the Pixel Watch 5 is an evolutionary step more than a revolutionary one. Google took what I liked about my 4 and improved upon it in nearly every way. Faster processor, more RAM, better GPS accuracy, enhanced Health sensor suite. The improvements in the Health sensor suite is what I'm most interested in. While my 4 did a very good job at tracking metrics during the day, during workouts, and during sleep, the 5 does even more. Google says that eventually the 5 will be able to help detect high blood-pressure, insulin resistance, and sleep issues. I say eventually because according to Google, some of these features require up to 1 month of continuous wear to make their initial assessments, or 2, they are features that are coming in a later update. Google touts the new Watch 5 as having more RAM and a processor that is approximately 20% faster for day-to-day use. Because of this, Google has increased Gemini's integration and effectiveness during daily usage. Gemini now has more on-device power available and can help routines or multiple app usage. For example, Gemini is much better at monitoring texts when read by the owner. If something comes up in a text that relates to say an event, task, meeting, etc., Gemini can now proactively check your calendar and other Google services. I look forward to being able to test the integration further and see just how much more helpful Gemini is on the 5. I liked Gemini on the Watch 4, but it was more just a conduit to Gemini on my phone than it was to offer any tangible integration with my daily life. Lastly, much like my Watch 4, the Watch 5 has very clear audio. Way better than my previous non-Google smartwatches ever had. Callers even note that my voice is very intelligible and hard to distinguish between my Watch 5 and Pixel phone for voice quality. I am very pleased with the mic and speaker clarity on the Pixel watches. I feel they set the bar for sound quality in the smartwatch category. NEGATIVES While I have noticed an improvement in battery life over my Watch 4, the Pixel Watch 5 falls dramatically short on battery life compared to my wife's smart watch that lasts a good week on a full charge. That being said, I am now on 2.5 days of use with the Watch 5 and still have 19% battery life remaining. That is well over Google's estimated 40 hours on their website. As a bonus, unlike my Watch 4, this is 2.5 days without battery saver. Second. I have had random freezes with the new Watch 5. It doesn't appear to be defective; it just randomly becomes unresponsive for a few seconds. It isn't after any app or usage scenario in particular, but I have had 2 experiences where it just kind of hangs for a few seconds while it gets its wits about it and then goes about its business as usual. I will continue to monitor, but it does appear that after the watch downloaded its third update that I mentioned above, the issues have been resolved. CONCLUSION If you are a Pixel phone owner and are looking for a smartwatch, the new Pixel Watch 5 is a no-brainer. It integrates with Google's phones even better than my Watch 4 did. The added on-board processing power is apparent and help the Watch 5 and Google Gemini become a much more intuitive companions. As far as the sensor suite, I have yet to be able to fully experience the improvements either because I need to wear the watch for an entire month or because there are features that are still coming soon. I will say that after a couple of marathon elliptical sessions, the Watch 5 does seem to do a better job at picking up changes in my heart rate better than my Pixel Watch 4. My Watch 4 would often take 3 - 4 minutes or more to begin accurately detecting changes to my heartrate during a workout. My Watch 5 seems to find the changes after just a minute or so. If I already owned a Pixel Watch 4, I'm not sure there is enough here to make the change to the Watch 5. If I wasn't already a Pixel Watch owner, the 5 is a very nice piece of gear for us Pixel phone owners. Users shouldn't be disappointed. RECOMMENDED

This Google pixel watch 5 45mm is a great smartwatch from google. This is the larger of the watches and also only the WiFi version. There is an option for cellular as well if you want that. This watch I mostly use for sleep tracking and notifications but you can use it for the whole suite of Google Health features and Google Gemini as well. It works with Google Health which is free but also has a premium version as well. You might have the premium option included with your Google one cloud storage subscription if you have one. I happen to have one so I have the premium Google health services so I can’t speak on what’s fully included in the free version. I also have a Fitbit device as well and I haven’t noticed a difference in the numbers this device tracks vs the Fitbit which is great. This device can detect various health metrics like blood pressure and soon blood sugar as well according to Google in September. Also can detect what you’ve seen in smart watches over the past few years as well like your heartbeat. This is a great irritative update to a great watch. This is designed for pixel phones but can work with other Android phones as well
