The game is exquisite for what it is, excellent roguelike action. It easy to get into and perfect for quick gaming sessions. The way they have managed for add the story elements keeps the gameplay fresh.

To start things off...don't give up after your first try. This game starts hard to the point of extreme frustration. But the great satisfaction of this game is the way you can truly see your growth as you progress. I went from barely being able to get past the first level to being able to beat it consistently every time. For those who don't know, this genre of game is basically a dungeon crawler where you play through the same exact levels every time, with a decent degree of random variation built into it. But the legitimately accurate Greek mythological story, that is only revealed in full after several playthroughs, makes it a ton of fun to keep signing up for the Hellish punishment. This is a great get for Switch, and in my opinion it's the best non-Nintendo game the Switch has had in its 4 glorious years.

Wow...If anyone has played Diablo 2, this is it. This is the closest thing to having the similar experience playing Diablo 2. This is one of the most addicting fun games out there. Here are the pros: - Addicting fun gameplay, always something new, always something else to try, different strategies, different difficulties, difficult specialties, just so much varieties! - Great amazing progressive storyline with good music, the story never stops. - Endless things to do on your own pace and you just keep wanting to finish more as you finish one thing and then to another.

Bought this on a whim based on seeing rave reviews. I mostly game on PC, but I finally got around to playing this when I unboxed my Switch to try Pokemon Unite on release day. I ended up spending way more time on Hades. The art is amazing, and you get to uncover more of the storyline as you go through each run. Testing out different weapons, playstyles, and upgrades is pretty fun and adds to the replayability factor. I have yet to beat the game, but I've enjoyed the experience so far.

Hades is my most-played game of the past year, and even 200 hours in I'm hungry for more. If you have any interest in roguelikes, innovative storytelling in games, or Greek mythology, you owe it to yourself to play this. Combat is the primary mechanic of Hades and it is rock-solid fun. Six different weapons are available with multiple variants of each to customize your playstyle. With dozens of upgrades obtainable from the Greek Gods as you play, no two runs will ever be the same. The music is some of the best I've ever heard in a game--the composer described it as "spooky Mediterranean prog rock" and even that is selling it a bit short. Some of these electric guitar riffs go so hard my hair stands on end listening to them. The story is both innovative and masterfully told, unfolding piece by piece as you visit the House of Hades between runs and get to know the various characters from Greek myth. They've been reimagined in a way that feels both modern AND faithful to their myths, a balancing act that continues to astonish me. And they're hot. Everyone in this game is just really hot. If you're reading reviews of this game online you probably already own it, but if you're on the fence, I promise this is the best video game you can possibly buy for $25. Enjoy.

It making you restart teaches you resilience to keep pushing after a failure

I can see why this was the Indie Game of the Year. It is really fun. Normally frustrating to die so often, but dying is an integral part of the gameplay here. Excellent concept with phenomenal execution. And an intriguing story I'm still excited to play through.

This game is a must play! The addicting gameplay loop, fantastic story, and handheld option on the Switch is a match made in heaven. The initial load time on the Switch is long but once you are in, You Are In!

Supergiant games outdid themselves with this game. If you love Greek Mythology or just like well-written, attractive characters then this is the game for you. The gameplay is smooth and fun and generally just feels really rewarding.

If you love any take Greek Mythology, pick up this game immediately. Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve probably heard people talking about Hades around the water cooler or online. Hades tells a tale of Hades’ son trying to reach the real world to try and find his real “un-godlike” birth mother. It’s a hack-n-slash, dungeon crawling, RPG, and story driving loads of fun game!

If you like disappointing your Dad, well you will have something in common with this game. What wont disappoint you is trying this game out if you haven't. An amazing game. I wasn't familiar with roguelite games before and didn't quite understand it at first. But, now I'm addicted. The story progression is amazing, the artwork is splendid, the voice acting is top notch. At first it might seem that once you "beat the boss" you are done, but that is only the beginning...
