The Hamilton Beach Programmable Set & Forget 6 Quart Slow Cooker makes a family meal on a busy weeknight possible. This slow cooker has a built-in thermometer for cooking meat and a program setting that shifts automatically to warm when set time is up.
A: Yes, it turns off automatically.. However it keeps food warm so it is ready to serve when you get home... Food does not burn. I was concerned about leaving it on but No Problem - Works great !! Love it !!
A: Thank you for your question. The slow cooker does not work like an oven, as it slowly rises in temperature to cook over a longer period of time. The temperatures for each setting are High: 200-225°F Low: 180-200°F Keep Warm: 165°F.
A: It doesn't step down the cooking but it will cook at the set level (high or low) for the desired amount of time and then switches to Keep Warm. You can also cook using the probe and it will modify itself as needed.
A: According to the instructions that come with the unit the main dish can be placed in an oven.
Q: Does "programmable" mean I can set it to come on at a specific time and cut off at a specific time?
A: No, unfortunately you cannot choose a time to start or end, just set the number of hours to cook, Hi or Lo, and when it shuts off, it keeps the food warm.

A: No, it is not teflon. I believe it is ceramic.
