Handel / Schoder / Hofkapelle - Handel: Nine German Arias - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

Handel / Appleyard / Florisma - Neun Deutsche Arien [COMPACT DISCS] date 09/01/2017

The Six Recorder Sonatas by George Frideric Handel are a compendium of the recorder's original literature, and have an exceptional position because of their beauty. They're typically Handelian in character, in that the upper voice is very vocal, like his operas. The melodies are truly captivating and remarkable for their InchsimplicityInch which demands far more virtuosity than simply moving the fingers quickly. The goal of Stefan Temmingh, one of Germanys most renowned recorder players of the younger generation, is to come as close as possible to the greatest of all instruments - the human voice. The bass line makes an equal counterpart to the recorder part; it's opulent, virtuosic and full of variety - much more than in comparable pieces. It's executed without cello only by harpsichord, performed in an outstanding way by Wiebke Weidanz. Album Tracks 1. Prelude in G Major, HWV 571 2. Sonata in C Major, HWV 365 3. Flourish 4. Sonata in F Major, HWV 369 5. Prelude in G minor, HWV 572 6. Sonata in G minor, HWV 360 7. Fantaisie No. 1 in B Flat Major 8. Sonata in B Flat Major, HWV 377 9. Prelude in a Minor, HWV 576 10. In all other respects, the prima donnas- the title figures and central heroines- stand at the center of the spotlight. However, Handel and Vivaldi also had a special affection for the Inchwomen in the shadowsInch - for the queens, the servants or the spurned lovers, mostly sung in female alto voice. They were given breathtakingly beautiful arias full of lament, sensuality, vengefulness or fury. In recent years, the German contralto Julia Böhme has developed into one of the most in-demand performers of 17th and 18th century music. Her vocal elegance and expressiveness, historically sourced style and unique timbre are just as characteristic of her as a performer as her dramatic intensity and versatility. Concerts and opera productions have taken her to the Dresden Music Festival, the Vienna Musikverein, Prague, Leipzig, Halle, Amsterdam, Brussels, Bruges, Versailles, the Laieszhalle Hamburg and the Leipzig Gewandhaus.
