I haven't laughed this hard at an animated series since the early days of Archer, a continuation of the insane--and hilariously profane--animated series about the Joker's ex, whose actions in the cataclysmic end to last season all but gave Harley Quinn and her dysfunctional gang (a gang, which, amazingly, shouldn't have held together for this long) the keys to control of Gotham, only for her to squander it, being in way over her head. Also, the heroes this season are not sacred cows, either being caught off-guard, or behaving in ways that are humorously out of character; witness the rulers of Wonder Woman's island home shockingly giving permission to nightclub debauchery, or Jim Gordon as a drunken buffoon with a faltering marriage, unable to keep events from spiraling out of control (as Batman's missing). Speaking of marriage, there are also romantic developments that may bring marital bliss to some--or broken hearts to others--but I can't give away too much. Let's just say that affairs of the heart will come as no surprise to those who've been paying attention, and come to a head in the season finale, becoming the basis for an ongoing a comic series filling the gap between Seasons 2 and 3.

I really love this animated series. It's the perfect balance of cartoonish violence without taking itself too seriously, but manages to create characters you actually care about. The ending demands a continuation and hopefully a season three isn't too far around the corner. Highly recommended!
