Zuill Bailey, widely considered one of the premiere cellists in the world, is a Grammy Award winner, distinguished soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, Artistic Director and teacher. His rare combination of celebrated artistry, technical wizardry and engaging personality has secured his place as one of the most sought after and active cellists today. Bailey grew up in Northern Virginia, where he was influenced and inspired by Rostropovich, who was then Director of the National Symphony. His parents are musicians. His mother is a pianist and his father has a Doctorate in both music and education. As an energetic four year old, while running furiously down a back hallway following a concert, Zuill Bailey had his first Inchrun- in Inch with a cello. The instrument was broken following the encounter but not Bailey's spirit. He announced then that the cello would be his instrument of choice. The rest is history. Bailey's performance instrument is made by the great Venetian cello maker, Matteo Gofriller in 1693. On this new , he presents Cello Concertos by Haydn alongside the Philharmonia Orchestra. This was recorded at the Wimbledon International Music Festival. Album Tracks 1. Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major, H. Viib No. 1 2. Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major, H. Viib No. 2

Robert deMaine is an American virtuoso cellist who has been hailed by The New York Times as Inchan artist who makes one hang on every note.Inch He has distinguished himself as one of the finest and most versatile instrumentalists of his generation, performing to critical acclaim as soloist, recitalist, orchestral principal, recording artist and chamber musician. He is currently Principal Cellist of the Los Angeles Philharmonic and is in demand around the world as a soloist, chamber musician and clinician. This recording is a collaboration with New York conductor Joel Eric Suben and the Moravian Philharmonic Orchestra recorded at Reduta Conceret Hall in Olomuc, Czech Republic. It was in this spirit of personalized composition that Haydn wrote his Cello Concerto in C major, Hob. VIIb 1, for the Esterházy family. The piece was unknown to modern audiences until 1961, when a copy of the score was uncovered. Since that time, it has become a staple of the cello repertoire, championed by many of the world's greatest cellists. Robert deMaine adds his name to that list with this rich recording. Haydn's Cello Concerto in D major, Hob. VIIb 2 was written for the Esterházy orchestra's principal cellist Antonín Kraft, who is said to have had a beautiful singing tone, expressive phrasing, and an explosive technique, especially in the cello's upper register. All of this is realized once again in this fresh performance from Robert deMaine. Album Tracks 1. Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major 2. Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major
