The piece was unknown to modern audiences until 1961, when a copy of the score was uncovered. Since that time, it has become a staple of the cello repertoire, championed by many of the world's greatest cellists. Robert deMaine adds his name to that list with this rich recording. Haydn's Cello Concerto in D major, Hob. All of this is realized once again in this fresh performance from Robert deMaine. Album Tracks 1. Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major 2. Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major

Haydn / Bailey - Cello Concertos 1 & 2 - COMPACT DISCS [CD]
5.0(1)

Zuill Bailey, widely considered one of the premiere cellists in the world, is a Grammy Award winner, distinguished soloist, recitalist, chamber musician, Artistic Director and teacher. His rare combination of celebrated artistry, technical wizardry and engaging personality has secured his place as one of the most sought after and active cellists today. Bailey grew up in Northern Virginia, where he was influenced and inspired by Rostropovich, who was then Director of the National Symphony. His parents are musicians. His mother is a pianist and his father has a Doctorate in both music and education. As an energetic four year old, while running furiously down a back hallway following a concert, Zuill Bailey had his first Inchrun- in Inch with a cello. The instrument was broken following the encounter but not Bailey's spirit. He announced then that the cello would be his instrument of choice. The rest is history. Bailey's performance instrument is made by the great Venetian cello maker, Matteo Gofriller in 1693. On this new , he presents Cello Concertos by Haydn alongside the Philharmonia Orchestra. This was recorded at the Wimbledon International Music Festival. Album Tracks 1. Cello Concerto No. 1 in C Major, H. Viib No. 1 2. Cello Concerto No. 2 in D Major, H. Viib No. 2

Orion Weiss - Horn Trios - COMPACT DISCS [CD]

The viability of the horn trio was definitively established by Brahms in 1865. He had learned the natural horn as a child and infused his Trio with a range of moods, including a deeply felt slow movement in honor of his mother who had died earlier in the year and a carefree finale which explores the horn's hunting legacy. Inspired by this precedent, Lennox Berkeley's Trio is lively and characterful with a sequence of ingenious and playful variations. GRAMMY-nominated Jonathan Leshnoff is one of America's leading contemporary composers and his 2016 Trio moves from darkness to light, and is full of pointed syncopations, before arriving at a joyous conclusion. Album Tracks 1. Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano, Op. 44~Allegro 2. Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano, Op. 44~Lento 3. Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano, Op. 44~Tema con variazioni 4. Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano in E flat major, Op. 40~Andante - Poco più animato 5. Trio for Violin, Horn and Piano in E flat major, Op. 40~Scherzo Allegro 6.
