Clean and fresh
dissatisfied Posted 2 years ago
After a one year of using it I can say that this portable cooler works so nice during the day, but at night is terrible noisy. Anyway I gave it four stars because it is easy to use, easy to clean and the air is clean and fresh.

Air cooler fills a niche that A/Cs would miss
dxrevue Posted 5 years ago
This cooler is mostly a glorified fan with the ability to provide minimal cooling in low humidity environments (< 50%). Once the temps and humidity go up to around 80 F (or 27 C) it doesn't seem very effective and an A/C would be better. However, it's a lot more energy efficient, compact, quieter and portable than an A/C so it would be useful in smaller spaces or wherever you can't vent exhaust out a window. There is also a large capacity reservoir which make it convenient to use for a long time (e.g. 1-2 weeks with regular use) without having to refill it. The remote makes it easy to switch the fan speed (low, med, hi) and activate the oscillating louvers to provide more fan coverage. I used this in the PNW where humidity hovers around 45-55% indoors the summer and was useful when temps were below 80 F / 27 C. It's also useful for ventilating small rooms or areas where an A/C wouldn't be appropriate (e.g. no windows).

Didn't work for us
RaufA Posted 3 years ago
We have not been able to use this properly, it doesn't really have any impact on the room temperature even for a small room or 100-150 sq feet. We didn't use it for a long time and couldn't find out during the returnable period if we could return or not. It just turned out to be a complete waste of money. Also filling and getting water in is a hassle as well.

HI Rauf,
Thank you for your inquiry. Evaporative Air Coolers uses the power of water evaporation to cool. Unlike an Air Conditioner that uses a compressor and chemical refrigerant to cool, an Evaporative Air Cooler cools by reducing the temperature of warm, dry air as it passes through the wet Honeycomb cooling pads. The cooling sensation happens when the airflow touches your body. Having the airflow directly onto your body / skin is the best way of cooling with an air cooler, so it ideal to have the airflow within reach. Air Coolers work best in dry climates - the temperature reduction of the air coming through the air cooler is higher with drier air. Please contact us at info@jmatek.com and a product expert can help to troubleshoot so you can make better use of your air cooler. Thank you.

We are sorry to hear about your experience with this unit. Portable evaporative air coolers work best in areas with a dry climate, with humidity levels below 50-60%. These also require ample cross ventilation along with dry heat for optimal cooling. These units depend on water evaporation for the cooling process, instead of a compressor, and hence should not be expected to cool like air conditioners.
Our customer support team will be able to look into all your concerns and troubleshoot for you. Great for a mid sized, small room
nque Posted 4 years ago
The cooler works well for the price. It is best used in a mid-sized or small room. Adding cold water helps cool vent cooler air. It is by no means an air conditioner but it does help cool an area a bit. My only complaint is the compartment for refilling the water is small so refilling the water will take some time.

This unit is not an air conditioner as it does not use a compressor or refrigerant gas. It should not be expected to cool as efficiently as a refrigerated air conditioner. The frequency with which you need to refill the water tank depends upon the hours of usage, ambient environment and so on.

Works more like a fan than an AC. It also makes a pretty distracting gurgling sound.

Works as designed. Didn’t cool as much as I had hoped but that’s due to my unreasonable expectations. Uses less energy than an air conditioner. Plan to use this winter as a humidifier. Satisfied with the purchase.
