The HP Omen 16 delivers excellent overall performance. The Ryzen 9 and RTX 5060 handled everything I needed from 4K video editing, coding tools like Python, R, AI platforms, to heavy multitasking. It stayed responsive even during demanding workloads, and the cooling system worked surprisingly well. The fans didn’t get too loud, even when I pushed the laptop with editing and AI tasks. My biggest issue was the battery life. Even during simple everyday tasks like internet browsing or watching a lecture, the battery dropped much faster than I expected. In a one-hour class session, it went from around 80% to about 12%, even with everything set to low-power modes (integrated graphics, Eco mode, low refresh rate). I found myself constantly worrying about whether the battery would last, and that’s ultimately the reason I’m returning it. The build quality is okay, but it leans toward a more plastic feel. At this price point, I’ve seen sturdier builds and better keyboards. It’s also a bit heavy, so carrying it around isn’t the most convenient. Overall, it’s a powerful and smooth machine, especially when plugged in. But if you move around a lot or need more reliable battery life during light tasks, that’s something to keep in mind.

If you’re looking for a laptop capable of handling high-resolution AAA titles, this is an excellent option. The performance is outstanding, making it a powerful choice for gaming while maintaining strong compatibility with a wide range of applications and peripherals. In day-to-day use, the laptop has been consistently reliable with no noticeable issues. It delivers impressive speed and responsiveness, and it’s surprisingly lightweight compared to many other high-performance gaming laptops. The build quality also feels solid and durable, giving confidence that it can withstand regular use and general wear over time. Beyond its gaming capabilities, this laptop is also well-suited for personal and everyday productivity tasks. Its customizable settings allow users to easily optimize performance and efficiency depending on their needs, making it a versatile option for both gaming and practical use. Pros: Lighter than most gaming laptops, refresh rate is amazing, decent portability Cons: fingerprints pretty much everywhere, collects dust easily, battery life when unplugged is not the best but also depends what the user is looking at or doing! Solid gaming laptop, perfect for big name titles and doesn’t run into any challenges. Would definitely recommend storage upgrade or external ssd 8.9/10

I have really been impressed with this laptop, especially for the sale price of $1,149. The laptop is not small by any means, but for a gaming laptop, it is more than OK. The screen is not the highest resolution, but for the RTX 5060, that's pushing it; again, it's fine. The 32GB of RAM chews through tasks along with the CPU. I have been playing Battlefield 6 without frame gen at medium to high settings and getting over 60fps, which, again, is fine for the screen that this laptop has. Other, more lightweight games easily max out the 144Hz refresh rate. The laptop does get a little hot, and fans get a little loud, the battery drains quickly when playing games, but this laptop is pushing out some serious power, so it is to be expected. Overall, for the price, it's a bargain. It's powerful, well made and does what it needs to do without fuss.

Amazing computer. Went from a 2018 asus to this HP Omen 16, and I’m very impressed. Very good specs for the price (during Black Friday door buster). I honestly thought it had to be a “too good to be true” cheap model variation, with throttled TGP or something, but this laptop runs so well. Seems to cool itself pretty well, fans can run a little loud but only while gaming, so you’ll probably have a headset on anyway. Works as it should, and the Omen Faming hub is actually pretty nice! Very happy with this purchase. Battery life is kinda short especially while gaming, but that’s pretty normal for a gaming laptop.

I had been hunting for a truly powerful machine, and I struck gold! I managed to combine an amazing Best Buy open-box deal with a sale event, making the HP Omen 16 the best hardware value I have ever purchased. This isn't just a great gaming laptop; it’s a high-performance workstation for the price of a mid-range machine. The Ultimate Score: The combined open-box savings and sale price at Best Buy were simply unbeatable. For the specs I got—the blazing-fast AMD Ryzen 9 8940HX CPU, a generous 32GB of RAM, a speedy 1TB SSD, and the powerful NVIDIA RTX 5060—the value is genuinely incredible. This purchase felt like stealing. Performance: Power for Every Task: The hardware is perfectly balanced for demanding workloads: For AI & Multitasking: The 32GB of RAM is the absolute sweet spot for what I do. It allows me to run complex AI models and do heavy video editing (with multiple 4K tracks and effects) without a hint of lag or system slowdown. The 16-core Ryzen 9 CPU is a multi-threaded powerhouse that eats up compilation and rendering tasks. For Gaming: The RTX 5060 is excellent for 1080p and 1440p gaming. I'm getting smooth frame rates in [Mention a game like Warzone/Cyberpunk/etc.], and with the benefit of NVIDIA's new DLSS technology, the performance uplift is fantastic. For Creation: The combination of the high-core-count Ryzen 9 and the RTX GPU makes a huge difference in rendering times for programs like Premiere Pro or DaVinci Resolve. My workflow is now significantly faster. The Omen Advantage: I also appreciate the classic Omen design—it's sleek, not too flashy, and looks just as good in a professional setting as it does on a gaming desk. The cooling system is robust, keeping the powerful components performing consistently. Final Verdict: If you can find this configuration of the HP Omen 16 on a deal, especially an open-box one, do not hesitate. It’s the ideal laptop for anyone needing top-tier CPU and multi-tasking power for demanding work and high-end gaming. This is the definition of a great deal on a great machine. Five stars!

This laptop has a lot of horsepower and rates well on PassMark's performance test (combined score of 11177. While it only has a 5060 GPU, for me, I'm not planning to use it for gaming. It appears to run the cpu at a higher speed on battery unlike my old Acer. I was able to get this on sale last month for the $1129.00 price. My thought process is that with the upcoming shortage of DDR-5 memory, this was the best bang for buck for the foreseeable future. Having said that, I found that the Omen software had to be uninstalled and reinstalled for some reason. This software helps to maximize the cooling of the system. A bios update or two awaits you as well as multiple driver updates from the HP Support website as well. The website has both Intel and AMD drivers in the location. Not well thought out there HP. There is some bloatware that can be removed. Revo Uninstaller or Bulk Crap Uninstaller work well (imo). Will try to update this review in the future.

It runs really well and supports all the games I want to play. For example I can run Rocket League at up to 720 fps on uncapped and can constantly run at 360fps. Call of Duty and Battlefield both run at up to 144 fps constantly but have yet to try anything higher than that. The omen gaming hub allows for optimization and you can choose to turn off a multitude of applications and unneeded software and such to boost gameplay. And as far as external quality goes, it has an RGB keyboard that can be changed in the omen gaming hub. The laptop is neither bulky nor thin which fits my personal taste for electronics. I recommend getting this if you want a new laptop as it is not too expensive especially during Black Friday as it went on sale for $450 less
Very High Quality laptop, GREAT for gaming! wanted something that could run most.. if not all modern games at high to ultra settings and this one does so far. plus it portable :) PS. this laptop will run Star citizen on medium settings and get 120 fps once you leave cities and get into space. same fps when you get into large scale battles outside atmosphere. very surprising for a laptop. IFKYK only downside id say there is would be the fact that the screen isnt OLED but it still looks great.

I can run demanding games on high settings with zero lag, no stuttering, and realistic graphics that keep me fully immersed. On top of that, it doesn’t overheat even during long sessions, which is a huge advantage when I spend hours gaming or creating content.

Amazing laptop for the price. I haven’t had any problems whatsoever. Amazing price. I’m able to run games very smoothly. Only problem you could run into is battery life. As long as you bring your charger with you when you travel you’ll be fine.

What can I say here? The laptop runs cool, gets great framerates and is a good build all the way around. Hardware wise, its solid and best bang for the buck on sale. Driver wise, well thats another story. The first week of owning this device i was getting screen lock due to the forced HP drivers that kept trying to install and failing. Windows reliability index showed it as a hardware failure but the crash dumps all led back to hps proprietary drivers. Apparently hp update service was trying to install display drivers continuously causing a buffer overrun. The forums at hp showed the issue is with tons of hp products not just this one. Once you ripped all those out it works flawlessly with all problems solved. That is until Windows update reinstalled them. They finally released an updated driver set, which fixed the main issue but introduced stuttering. Again ripped out the hp drivers and fixed it. Then to be safe disabled the hp software from being able to update from inside windows itself. Now running with zero issues minus hp bloatware. You will want to disable HP application enabling services in your device manager as it is the cause of all your troubles.

I bought this Omen computer for my son, and I’m very happy with it. The performance is excellent: games and programs run smoothly without any lag. The screen and audio quality are also very good, making it a more immersive experience. Plus, the design is modern and sturdy, perfect for daily use by a child. I recommend this computer for families looking for power and reliability for both studying and gaming.

Decent laptop it definitely runs studio one 7 and my over 700 plugins pretty flawlessly. I've gone into the gaming hub to increase performance and it doesn't seem to do too much but make the computer unstable. It's frozen multiple times and I'll had to shut it down and restart which is a bummer. I put the laptop back to default settings and haven't touch the gaming hub performance increase just switched settings to maximize performance in the main setting areas of the batter settings and the advanced settings and seems to running on at the moment. Seems to have a lot of power just not as stable as I'd imagine an intel ultra i9 might supply. Buy if you need a decent priced gaming laptop. I would only buy if it goes on sale to maximum $1200. To me this isnt a $1500 laptop which it was originally and normally priced at.

This is such a good laptop overall, especially for the price point on sale. It never gets hot, even during intense gaming. It has incredible thermals. I play Rust mainly, which is very difficult for any pc to run. I consistently get upwards of 150 FPS on high graphics settings, which is insane for a laptop. All while remaining cool to the touch. The battery is horrendous, but let's be honest - I didn't buy this for the battery, since it will be plugged in 99% of the time at home. I've owned this laptop for a little over two weeks now, and still 0 issues. I will say that having a cooling pad in your setup will keep temps much lower. It feels great having accidental coverage insurance on the laptop as well. Pro tip- the key to heat dissipation is to elevate the laptop. All in all, I am extremely happy with my purchase!

Good performance, for gaming being on charger is suggested, little bit too loud ventilators. But overall good laptop.

At first, I was pretty disappointed with the battery life while gaming unplugged, but after looking into it more, I realized it’s just how modern gaming laptops work. When you’re plugged in, the system pulls power straight from the charger, so the battery doesn’t drain like it used to. Like most gaming laptops, it does run hot, so I grabbed a cooling fan/stand and that helped a lot. The backlit keyboard looks awesome, and I’ve played a bunch of Steam games with zero issues. Overall, definitely worth it — especially for the sale price

This laptop delivers excellent performance for both gaming and professional work. The Ryzen 9 processor and RTX 5060 handle demanding tasks very smoothly, including multitasking and heavy applications. The 32GB RAM makes a big difference for productivity and future use. The display quality is sharp and fluid with a 144Hz refresh rate, which makes everything look smooth. Build quality feels solid and the overall experience has been great so far. Overall, I’m very satisfied with the performance and value this laptop offers.

I had a counterfeit battery warning with every boot up mine(new in box) and i did a bios flash to the lastest version and the issue went away..however everytime I would log back into the laptop it kept making me reset my pin(very annoying but I use a local account anyway) I wasnt sure I was comfortable with the battery error so I ended up returning it and getting a different machine

Great laptop with good performance for such a good price point too. Got it on sale and its well worth it for 32gb of ddr5 memory, dedicated graphics card rtx 5060 which can run most games at 1080p with 144hz screen too. The 1 tb ssd is great and it can be upgraded with more storage/ram. Worth it.
