First of all, to address previous reviews referencing the screen, sure, if you're sitting here staring a few inches away, you might barely be able to notice the mesh/grid pattern they speak of. Using the laptop in everyday circumstances, you're not even going to notice it, as it's something you literally have stare at the screen, to look for to find. The screen is beautiful, can be viewed just as well from any angle, even directly from the side the picture remains the same, as shown in one of the attached photos. There are 5 color profiles to choose from: Default - optimized for color vibrancy Web (sRGB) - optimized for web browsing Photo (Adobe RGB) - optimized for photo editing & viewing Movie (DCI-P3) - optimized for movie viewing & editing Native - no optimization applied Personally I typically stick with Movie, as that's the color profile utilized for digital film projection in the move industry, and it really makes movies look terrific. Being a 4K AMOLED screen, the blacks are true, and the colors are vibrant and rich. To address the fans and heat issues I've seen on here, in my experiences thus far, the laptop has remained cool, haven't had any crazy heat under the keyboard, though I just usually watch a lot of movies, with some web browsing. So others might be multitasking a lot, or using programs that eat up a lot of the CPU. The fans are hardly ever on, and yes when they do turn on, sometimes they can spool up a bit, though never what I'd deem as overly loud. You can select the fan profile in the HP Command Center, I leave it on the HP Recommended, though you can choose Performance, Quiet, or Comfort as well. Port wise, it is very limited, though I do appreciate it has a full size USB-A port, which did take me a minute to find, as it's somewhat hidden. It's on the left side, and at a glance looks like maybe a MicroSD slot, though if you push down on the bottom of the port, it opens up into the full size. The bottom stays flush with the laptop otherwise, when you're not using it. So that's kind of a cool feature to keep it hidden in a way. Has the charge port on the back right corner, it's a USB-C type, as show in the picture there. The cord from the power "brick" to the laptop is braided, which is great, so helps give the cord some durability. Besides that, has another USB-C port, MicroSD slot, and headphone jack. Also has a camera kill switch on the right side for privacy sake. Overall feel of the laptop is premium, haven't noticed any kind of flexing when opening the screen, feels very sturdy, and the hinges feel like they'll hold up for quite awhile. Keyboard feels good, responsive, albeit maybe slightly cramped though being a 13.3" laptop, I wouldn't have expected a full size anyways, so no worries there. Keyboard is backlit, with an adjustable brightness setting, located on the F5 key. All of the function keys by default do the action shown, you have to hold the actual FN key to do F1, F2 and so on, which seems pretty common these days on many laptops. Have only had this laptop a few days, though initial impressions are quite positive from me. I updated everything I could when I first started it, so maybe some of the screen issues folks mentioned were resolved in more recent updates, as I've not had any issues. System boots up quick of course with the SSD, and have not encountered any issues have multiple tabs open on Firefox, which we all know is a resource hog of a browser, even still. Battery life, I got about 6 hours from 100% to 26% before I plugged it in, and that was entirely streaming Netflix, with brightness at about 65%, no battery saving features enabled. The price dropped down to $1649.99 recently, so was finally able to pull the trigger on this, as I had been eyeing it for awhile, well worth the price, for the value it has. Also comes with a carrying sleeve, which it fits perfectly into, and has a little bit of cushion, though I still use a pouch as well for extra insulation.

This HP Spectre laptop is excellent. Fast, mobile and efficient. The 4K display is bright and absolutely gorgeous!!! No regrets at all and got it at a great Bestbuy price!!!

I battled with purchasing the Dell xps with similar specs to the HP Spectre. But the price with an Oled screen, 1tb sd, i7 with a icelake processor and Iris Plus graphic card was really hard to beat at under $1,200. Plus., it has all the ports I need. I have been using it for 1month now and its amazing. fully recommend

I love it. Best Noteable Pros: battery life is upto 6-8 hours of heavy use by me who has videos running on another monitor while i sift through Adobe photoshop and MS Suite, and search engines. Havent had a malfunction of any type after months of daily use. Cons I can't increase screen wedge or Folder sizes permanently to see them. I must use my 32" monitor ro read them. Sometimes if im using it in tablet mode, some keya unlock when touching my thigh and i get eronious letters or unwanted actions happen while im writing seriously. The backlit keyboard doesnt stay on. Did I miss an option to keep it on instead of timing out after x minutes of non-use?

I love my new computer lab top it was so easy to set up and it works fast. Since I had to work from home this was the best investment I have ever made. I love my HP - Spectre

I've had this computer for a week or 2 now. Running fusion 360 with the processor at around 45% load causes it to shut down due to over temperature in a 65 degree room on a flat desk.... I have deleted hp support as suggested on many sites with no difference in performance. Limiting a processor to 60% shouldn't even be an option. If you are going to use a laptop for any 3D design work or even the lightest of gaming stay far away from this monstrosity! This is unacceptable for an 1800$ laptop.

Overall this is a great laptop and enjoy that there isn't a lot of the unnecessary products loaded on this machine. This is for school little over-kill but I wanted it. Now here is my breakdown and why I gave 5 stars despite some nuances. Look - Classy - dark brown/gold very nice, make you want to get the matching mouse - Fingerprint scan in an idea spot for me - Speakers are loud but you cant tell if where they are located, at something I like - touch pad is nice and wide takes getting used to right clicking if you are not using a mouse Display - 4K UHD is what I have and its super bright and clear very good picture - have not seen it be a finger magnet with the touch part Keyboard - very responsive - nice click sound very sturdy 2 n 1 and Tablet - Laptop mode is your typical laptop with a ridge on the bottom or bar not sure what to call it. It provides a slanted gap so air can flow out - Tablet mode is nice probably my least mode due to I do not like the keys touching me. But as far as switching to tablet very easy and sturdy hinges - Tent mode is same and standard like any tent mode The nuances - Watch out with the 4K UHD going it will get hot. When its cooking in tablet mode you can feel the heat and when its in laptop mode the fan starts to kick in that causes some annoyance. Suggest turned down the settings if you are not needing the 4K also you can change viewing mode by right clicking the screen then HP Display Control and take it off the default maybe use a different mode. Funny even doing something you hear the fan go. I might research further on other settings to not have it cook so much. But fan will turn on. Connection Ports - The connections ports are enough for me to work with have no need for more but can see if there were two standard USB (instead of 1) like the two USB C. - 3 USB ports with 2 of them type C - well one of the type C is where the charger is located - My version has the SD card reader no Sim Card - Audio Jack In summary I really like the laptop despite is need to kick that fan on for the display hogging the resources :) but I figure over time I will get used to it. Oh cant forget it is very light, comes with a polyurethane leather (or fake leather) sleeve (black) and the pen which is black. The sleeve has a clip you can hold your pen in. So good buy.

I researched 2 in 1 for over a year before deciding on this one. It was between this and the Dell XPS. This one is just so gorgeous and hard not to have and just admire. Movies and media just shows amazing on this thing with the 4k oled. Battery life could be much better I would say. The whites can be really bright. This laptop is the fastest I've ever used or tested. Very compact and easy to take with you.

Excellent computer. The speed and power of the processor are more than up to the task of even my resource heavy statistical analysis software. The 4k display is crisp and responds quickly to touch. The battery has reasonable life even when watching videos. The size makes it easy to transport. And the design elevates the overall computer beyond the usual blacks and silvers. The only complaint I have is the USB port. It has a spring loaded cover that will eventually break off.

I've tried the 4k variants of both the XPS 7390 2 in 1 and the Yoga C940 prior to purchasing this Spectre with the OLED display. With the exception of the exceptional speakers on the C940, the Spectre outclasses both of these competitive devices by a wide margin in my eyes. Longer battery life (6-8 hours on this, vs 4-5 on C940 and ~4 on XPS); crisper display -- the OLED is unbeatable; better keyboard (especially against the XPS); a good combination of ports (XPS has no USB-A; C940 has no microsd slot); and quieter performance. I do wish they had a way of storing the pen with the device -- I liked the storage slot on the C940 and the magnetic attachment on the XPS, but that's my only complaint and it's a minor one because I don't use the pen that ofen. Very happy with this purchase.

I got this laptop on sale after tax for $1620 out the door after taxes. 1. The OLED display is gorgeous. 1.1 Con: The OLED display does have some banding on the right side but its only noticeable on the file manager when the brightness is around 45%-60% brightness. (It doesn't really bother me like it does to other people). 1.2 People have been commenting on the diamond shaped texture on the screen and making a big deal about how it ruins the display. I will be frankly honest. ITS NOT A BIG DEAL LIKE PEOPLE R MAKING IT OUT TO BE LOL. UNLESS YOU ARE JUST WANTING TO LOOK AT INDIVIDUAL PIXELS YOU WILL BE FINE. 1.3 If you are worried about the diamond shaped texture go to the store and check it out yourself. :D 2. The speakers could definitely be improved since this is a $1600 laptop these speakers should be something spectacular by Bang & Olfusen but they are not and probably just okay at best. 3. The computer can play Rocket League on "Quality Graphics" at 1080p (It hovers around 55 - 60 fps). if anyone wanted to know lol. Maybe this is just useless info but hopefully this helps someone. :D 4. The performance is outstanding and have not had any slow downs from the time I have had it so far. 5. The boot time is around 6.6 seconds (Again this might be useless info but some people like to know these things :D). Overall its a great laptop. It's a bit pricey, but the overall machine is amazing based on speed, durability and amazing display. I like how compact it is and the overall design such as the location of the power button, connecting ports and the fingerprint security feature. I am happy with this product so far.

Amazing Laptop I really was blown away by the overall look and specs of the computer. The graphics and overall speed are really fantastic also having a 2 in 1 laptop is very handy for school work, personal use & work!!

Pros: lightweight, compact, gorgeous. I forget it's only 13 inches because the resolution is so high. Massive storage space. Touch screen takes some getting used to, but is convenient once you remember it exists. Cons: only one USB port, no hdmi port, no cd slot. It does, however, have two usb-c ports. This is a computer for someone who has up to date electronics that link via Bluetooth, or for someone who doesn't mind purchasing multiple adaptors. Also, there is no screen protector or case available for it yet because it is such a new machine.

I try to stick with Dell or Lenovo PC'/Laptops. I've not had great experience with other brands, mostly due to the shortcuts they take. This HP Spectre 13" really impressed me and won me over. I read so many reviews, watched way too many YouTube reviews comparing the Dell 13" XPS 2 in 1, Lenovo C940 and the Spectre. It was a tough decision. The determining factors were the 1) incredibly beautiful AMOLED screen 2) nice keyboard for a laptop 3) size/weight - works well for a 2 in 1. The only real miss is there is no holder or way to attach the pen. Everything else outweighed this and the Spectre really shined above the rest. I bought a really nice sleeve that provides extra storage for the power brick, cord, USB drive and yes, pen/stylus with room for more! The laptop is functional in all areas important (at least for me). It's fast, looks great and again, that oled screen!!! Wow. People have slammed the sound, either hp made improvements or I'm getting less fussy. The sound is not too bad (for a laptop) granted the C940 is a lot better but it's not what I bought this laptop for. With that said I've connected my Bluetooth bose mini ii sound link (sounds great!) and connected my my ipod pros and sony H900 headphones - beats any laptop sound!! I compared the C940 side by side. I had the 4k screen but the oled was so much nicer. The C940 slid around (no "rubber" feet) and the keyboard wasn't as nice. The C940 was a bit large for a two in one. Performance was similar. This is a great, lightweight, powerful laptop. I'm very happy with my purchase!

I can't really say enough awesome things about this laptop. You can read all the reviews about how well it performs and how lightweight and portable it is, however I only give it 4 stars for the following reasons: 1) Battery Life: The battery life is about 1/3 (depending on usage) of what a non-OLED version would be. Based upon my research, I should be getting 3 times the life between charges that I am right now, and that is due to the OLED screen. 2) Lack of ports: I knew this going into it, and it is easily managed with a USB Hub, however the lack of ports makes it more difficult to use any bluetooth devices that require a dongle (mice, keyboard, etc). If there was one more USB port, that would be sufficient for such a portable machine. All in all, I chose this one over the 15" version at the time, even though they were comparable in price, mainly for the portability and decided I would make due with the lack of ports. However, in retrospect I personally would have gone with the 15" device. My recommendation, find a store that has them both (newer versions by now of course) and compare them side by side for what you will be mainly using them for. Either way, I think you will be greatly satisfied.

The laptop has been working quite well in overall. I've seen others complaining about the grid if you do some pixel-peeping onto the screen, but in normal use it's not that significantly noticeable, even though I'm one of those pixel peepers. Iris Graphics does offer some improvements over Intel HD Graphics, but it's still quite far from being on par with cards like Nvidia MX150, or even MX130 as Intel advertised. The thing that concerns me the most here is the Optane SSD. Personally I feel the OLED screen isn't the one that draws the most out of the battery, but the SSD itself. Even though I use few programs at once, already turned off a lot of background services, RAM usage would go up around 50% (or 8GB).. Sometimes it also takes up a lot of disk usage, causing the machine to be running really hot and crank up the fans pretty loud to cool it down. The performance of the drive is also sub-par compared with my 2-year-old Samsung PM961 on another laptop, which can be found at really cheap price. In summary, the machine is a pretty good device, in terms of screen to body ratio (although I'd prefer a 16:10 screen), weight, aesthetics, ports & keyboards compared to competitors. But if you want to go for this config, considering replacing the SSD would be a good thing to do before buying.
