The HP Hyper-X Omen Series gaming laptop is a nice little power house offering a number of this features to support your gaming needs while building the previous foundation machine. The shadow black color is intense and really give the machine a nice sleek look. There is a strong focus with this machine for performance while gaming. Initial machine overview reflects it through easily seen changes to the cooling system for the machine when looking at the bottom and sides of the machine for the cooling path areas. The power adapter has increased in size to provide the additional power needed by the system for the upgraded GPU (graphics card) in the unit; NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5060. The I7 series in the system is very responsive and does not show any signs of lag or hiccups when maxing out the machine. You do hear the cooling system as you increase overall use of the machine. This latest series CPU is designed to support power while maintaining battery life due to the overall power most processors utilize creating longer battery life during those sessions using battery power only. The keyboard has a mechanical feel and touch to it, keeping it in-line with that feel almost all gamers desire with customizable RGB settings. The number pad is a little squished into the main keyboard layout with the arrow keys, which can be troublesome for some that are not used to the way the pad is laid out. I did find myself at times hitting the incorrect key, but I did evolve to it. System Overview. The storage and RAM in the system are NVMe and DDR5 while the GPU has dedicated 8GB. This unit tested has the 512GB series, to which I found adequate for system utilization and use. It does have the latest iteration of WiFi while still retaining the traditional network and headphone ports. You still have the USB-A x2 and USB-C x1. One item I was really hoping to see was a conversion from you standard pin hold charging port to a magnetic charge series to save your port when trying to grab and go or trips to prevent damage to the machine. The Omen gaming hub continues to grow and become of a central point for all things related and interface. Out-of-the-Box. Setup is quick, until you hit the standard MS network wall that requires a network connection to proceed and bind the machine to a Microsoft account. Once in, there are initial important HP updates that must be applied from BIOS and Firmwares to bring all of the additional software to its current state. Following this, the are your Windows updates. After about 3-4 hours even with a fast internet connection, the machine will be fully up and running.

If you are looking for a powerful gaming laptop that is convenient to take with you on the go, this is not it. But if you plan to use it as a primary gaming device at home, along with having the ability to travel with it on occasion, it is perfect for that. Pros: - The large 16" screen helps give you a playable option without the need to connect an external monitor. - Specs are strong, from the Intel CPU, 165Hz refresh rate, the RTX 5060 graphics card (with 8GB of onboard memory), 16 GB of RAM, and a solid state drive. These components partner to provide quick boot-up times, quick loading of games, and a smooth gaming experience. I was able to play graphic intensive games from my library at high settings without issue. - The large chassis is well designed to help with airflow for cooling purposes as needed. - The back-lit keyboard looks fantastic and is customizable. - I liked how the track pad felt. It has good size and responds well to taps/clicks and multi-touch gestures. Cons: - It is extremely heavy for a laptop (over 5 pounds). I would not encourage anyone to use this on a daily basis on the go. It's better suited for home use and limited travel because of it's size/weight. - The storage is limited at 512GB. I would like to see any laptop designed for gaming come with at least 1TB of storage. Most gamers will want to plan to upgrade storage unless you are OK with deleting and installing games frequently as you make space for new titles. External storage is also an option. I found the performance of this HyperX OMEN laptop to be excellent overall and it would be an excellent option to consider for gamers that don't plan to be on-the-go very often!

The HyperX Omen 16" gaming laptop I feel like it is a bit laggy. The overall design it looks good, but I just don't know what's up with these gaming laptops that are so bulky and heavy. It is like going back 15 years when it felt like you carried the whole PC tower. However, besides the little lag this laptop would make a great beginner laptop for someone who is just starting to get into gaming. I guess the heaviness is what makes it feel like a tank, so you don't throw it across the room when playing. The set up was simple easy straight forward no complaints about anything. The graphics looks decent enough and make playing look good without going with a custom-built PC. I personally like to have a gaming laptop for those moments when you go out to a buddy's house and it saves you from taking a whole set up with you. It has enough ports to be able to connect your accessories and power connection is the old school one that is very difficult to mess up. Would I recommend this to someone looking a new laptop heck yes. My main issue as to why i gave it 3 stars and not the 5 is because of the lag when i was first setting it up. I did update driver and all but still not fully satisfied with this laptop.
