This is very very close to the book. This was recommended by my comic book guy. And it is very good. Instant love with it.

Didn't know what to expect going in. Similar to When a monster calls, but source material was around first. Not overly depressing, but draws you in. Girl was very good in the lead, you believed her take on her situation.

We went into this blind, and ended it with tears and blinded in a different way. The emotions in this movie are impressive for anyone who has battle their own internal demons with sick loved ones. Get the tissues ready...

I knew nothing about this movie before purchasing it. I was pleasantly surprised with how it went. I do wish there was a flashback of monsters she fought with prior to the ultimate monster.

This movie had my family rooting for the giant killing teen, only to be given such a twist at the end that I had to see the movie again just to make sure I saw it right

A great movie dealing with family issues and loss. Uses fantasy as a perfect allegory to real life issues.

It has lessons about bullying and experiencing loss. But it also mysterious and adventurous.

It looks like it would be a great sci-fi fantasy, but it isn't. Be ready for a tear-jerker for anyone who has been bullied. Totally worth a watch, if only because it does a really good job of highlighting how to survive being bullied.
