I am somewhat disappointed in this product. I purchased it when I saw it was compatible with Apple HomeKit, but it doesn't always respond to commands when issued from my iPhone even when hooked up within a few meters of my router. I also have the Caseta Wireless brand from Lutron which performs much better and more consistently than this product from iDevices. The only benefit is that this iDevices model is good for the outdoors...when it works. If you don't need an outdoor model than I'd suggest another manufacturer.

Love this for my porch lights and for holiday lights too!

This outdoor switch is similar to the iDevices indoor smart switch. Just in that product, the documentation is a bit sparse as well. Make sure you have Bluetooth, iCloud, and iCloud keychain turned on before the installation process begins. Also, this device cannot operate on the 5GZ spectrum. Only the 2.4 GHZ spectrum. So also make sure your phone/tablet is connected to the same 2.4 GHZ signal that the device will be attached to. Once all of those criteria's are satisfied, installation should go smoothly. It supports Amazon Echo and supports remote access without an Apple TV. The big difference is this device is weather proof, so you can keep it outside all year round. However, both outlets are fused together, so they are both on or off at the same time. They cannot be controlled independently. Regardless, this a good device to control Christmas lights, outdoor patio lights, or any other outdoor electrical device that you want to control from your phone. Very much recommended.

I used this last christmas for setup my outdoor lights controlled with my iphone. It was so easy and simple to setup. I know use it to light up a tree in my backyard. Its also weather proof! And you can track energy savings with the iDevices Homekit app.
