A: I had the same struggle & is an easy fix in the menu. I don't have the TV remote in front of me, but go to the menu. Scroll around & there is an option for voice control (I think that's what it's called). Turn that Off.

Q: Are the controls for this tv on the front?
A: Interestingly, there are no controls on this unit other than an on/off on the front bottom center. Totally remote control otherwise. Unit fits well in a small office/den, which dictated the size we had to use. Easy set up for comcast cable. Works great... no regrets.
