[Employee of bestbuy] slapped a free Sata drive I got from microcenter 2 years ago in here because I needed to transfer files between laptops, and I didn't have a big enough flash lying around. got a bit more storage now and that useless SATA drive gets to be used as backup storage for my phone's photos. The instructions that came included were also really handy if you've never formatted a drive before; really easy to follow.

I needed to recover data from my defunct laptop, so an HDD enclosure was a must! The Insignia 2.5 SATA to USB-C HDD Enclosure fit the bill. I slipped the old drive into the enclosure without any difficulty and plugged it in. No tools needed. Easy peasy. FYI: The USB-C cable came with an adapter for an USB-A port and some foam stick-on shims to take up any slack in the case.

Does what it claims to do, works as intended, only reason for 4 out of 5 stars is because I have connectivity issues so playing installed games through this adapter isn’t great, you can do it but occasionally you will get a disconnect somewhere in the system. [Comes with included USBC to USBC cable and USBC to USBA adapter.]

I like it a lot but the SSD I’m using is only a couple of years old and I got this because it’s usb-c to usb-c which means it should be fast file transfers. In reality, it’s quite slow but the casing does look cool.

I purchased this to transfer files from my 2TB SSD that was in my 9-year old Asus laptop to my newer laptop. So far, I haven't had any issues. The instructions for applying the pads inside to ensure a stable fit were straightforward, and the inclusion of a USB-C to USB-A adapter (in case one doesn't have USB-C) is a plus. It may not always reconnect automatically when reawakening a laptop from sleep, so that's my only real gripe, but that's easily fixed with unplugging and plugging back in. So far, it's served me well. The price was good too.

The ability to quickly swap drives makes this a nice upgrade over previous versions. Utilizing USB-C as the primary interface also helps. The lid can stick ever so slightly when trying to open it, but I'd rather it do that than just slide open with almost no effort. Performance is about what I'd expect, as the SATA drive will be the limiting factor over even a 5Gbps connection.
