    • Defrost Type: Manual (Ice build-up can reduce the appliance’s cooling capacity, making it work harder and consume more energy. Defrosting is necessary to maintain its efficiency and each type has its own advantages depending on user needs and preferences. Manual defrost appliances require unplugging to melt ice naturally, but offer more space, lower energy consumption, and lower cost without the internal heating element. Frost-free appliances regulate temperature to prevent ice build-up automatically. Automatic defrost systems use a timer to circulate heat and prevent ice accumulation, while adaptive defrost systems use sensors to determine the optimal times for heat circulation.)

Q: Is this frost free?

A: In the specifications page is says "manual defrost" - so the answer is no.

Q: Can this unit be used in a garage with temperatures ranging from minus -5 to 95 degrees?

A: Hello, thank you for your interest in our Freeze. To answer your inquiries, if you use your freezer in a garage, make sure that the ambient temperature is between  5°F and 190°F  (-15°C and 43°C). I hope you find this information useful. Deneb M.- Insignia Support.

Q: Are the shelves far enough apart to fit a half ham/ham portion butt end without having to cut the ham down to fit? Also, there are differing answers to the cord length. Has anyone actually measured the cord?

A: To answer as best I can,Yes the Ham Portion should fit fine unless it is huge. For a example I can sit l 16oz Water bottles inside my shelves with room to spare at the top .And the very bottom does have 1 removable shelf, remove it and a Turkey should fit fine .As for the cord I got mine 2 weeks ago, my cord is over 5 feet long ( 5.4 if I remember right) , it easily reached the outlet I wished to use. As I say I am only 2 weeks in but I adore it, perfect for 2 of us, The seals on the door are so great when you close the door you can stand there and listen to it suck down and seal, serious. I wish it had a indicator light that it is running but can't beat the price size is nice if a bit short for a tall girl like me but I knew that. It will need to be defrosted every so often but a few good boxes to put food into and a bit of time and good to go, Mine went from room temp of 85 to frozen water bottles in just a few hours on med... . Hope this has helped you or someone, Right now we love it enough we are about to buy my short ( 5.1) Sister in Law one since her little chest type she had to bend into and dig went out.

Q: Can an 8lb. bag of ice fit in this freezer? And, if so, 1 or 2 bags on a shelf?

A: I'm not sure how big a bag of ice is so measured the shelves. Top three are 15"W x 14"D x 9"H. Hope that helps.

Q: What is the package dimensions? Can I carry it in my suv?

A: The box is about 5ft tall and 2.5-3ft wide/deep. Should fit in SUV. Freezer is shipped upright...so if you lay down in vehicle it must rest for a couple hours before plugging in.

Q: How much clearance room should I plan for on the sides? Is a 25" wide space sufficient, or should I allow more like 3" on each side? Also, I've read that the cord is 2 ft long or 4 ft long. How long is the cord? Is it safe to plug into a power strip?

A: Answering my own question, as my freezer arrived today. It calls for 3.9" clearance on each side and the back. The cord is 5.4 ft long and should not be plugged into a power strip. They also state not to share the power outlet with anything else.

Q: How much height is there between the shelves?

A: There is 8 7/8” clear between shelves.

Q: Can this freezer accomodate 9x 13 aluminum foil pans

A: Yes. Top 4 shelves are 14 inches deep and 15 inches wide
