I bought his cable for the ability to transfer files and information from my PC to my 3d printer. It works exceptionally well and without error.

Good device good price. Why do yoi specify how many words that I have to use?

This cable does not work the only reason this cable has a positive star rating is because its not worth the effort to report that you have to spend an hour to try and download the driver for it. The box says no additional software and that is false advertising. See my photo of a brand new computer and windows can not find the driver to make it work. Im not trying to run an app all the time on my PC just to use a cable.

I apologize for the inconvenience and frustration caused by the Insignia 6' USB 3.0 File Transfer Cable. I understand that the product's performance fell short of your expectations, and the lack of clear instructions on the box regarding additional software requirements was misleading. I appreciate you taking the time to share your experience and provide a photo to support your claim. We will take this feedback into consideration and work to improve our product descriptions and overall user experience. I do not appreciate being deceived! First, the 2 ends do not appear as in the ad. Second, many technical people have their own software for reviewing and possibly transferring data. It is incredibly presumptuous and poorly thought out that people, especially technical people, would want to be required to run the software from this company. Who thought of this, some marketing person? I have ZERO use for this product - and will be returning it. Pitiful and incredibly disappointing. What I recall seeing was two of the second image below, not one of each of the two images. I did not see a warning that I would be required to use their software. Data transfer cable means a cable only. The software should be an optional bonus feature. NOT a requirement. What a waste of my time!

I love the adapter it comes with and it’s the standard choice when I need a new cable!

I'm not sure if its because I purchased this used from Best Buy or if the product itself is bad. I purchased this to move a considerable amount of work files from one computer to another because I thought it was better than a flashdrive. It is not. I would have to transfer one document at a time because a folder is too much. The total storage is 15.9MB, but AVAILABLE is only 2.0MB. And every individual document comes up as protected and will not allow me to transfer. It was useless. I could transfer a handful of documents out of thousands. I'd really like my money back.

I bought this 6’ USB 3.0 file transfer cable to move data between my old laptop and a new one, and it worked perfectly right out of the box. The connection was stable and lightning-fast — it transferred hundreds of gigabytes in no time. The extra length of the cable made setup easy without feeling cramped, and the build quality feels solid and durable. I really appreciate that it came with clear instructions and didn’t require any extra software to get started. If you need a dependable, high-speed cable for backups or computer-to-computer transfers, this one does exactly what it promises. Highly recommend!

Worked perfectly to transfer all of my data from the old computer to new computer. Very easy to hook up. The length of the cable was more than enough.

Getting the cable setup was a bit confusing - I do agree with many reviewers the instructions are lacking and somewhat ambiguous. The cable needs to be plugged into each PC before either PC will recognize it (makes sense). After both PCs recognize the cable, each one will pull in the software and a file explorer window will pop up on each monitor. At this point the application is NOT ready to use, keep reading... A new drive letter (e.g. F:) is assigned, and the nav window shows the executable file - SmartDataLink.exe. This program should start immediately, but you may have to wait a bit to see anything happening. You will be prompted by each PC to let the program take control of your computer and you have to answer yes to both. There may be some other notifications that pop up. If all goes well, you will be notified the connection was made and the application is ready to use. The two nav windows may now be closed. The mouse from either PC will move back and forth between both monitors and let you use it normally on both, which is a bit confusing. It seems to not matter which mouse you use, it's probably better to turn one of them off and use only one. For copying files and whole folders, you can use drag-drop, or copy-paste from context menu or [ctrl]+C [ctrl]V. Drag and drop is a little buggy - when you select a file or folder and drag, you see the file/folder icon attached to the cursor, but when you cross over to the target PC screen, many times the icon is lost and the copy won't complete. This happens so often, the drag and drop function is almost useless. One more observation: while copying a folder which had one file with a very long name, a web link, the copy process stopped cold. It did tell be which file, but it was a pain finding and renaming it. So it was a legal Windows filename, but the software couldn't deal with it! Overall the cable does work well and is reasonably priced.

Reading through these reviews, I had my doubts, but given I knew I could return it to Best Buy if I had problems, I bought it hoping for the best. Also, given the negative reviews, I realized I needed to start by carefully reading the instructions. Turns out that if you follow the instructions and realize this isn't just a wire, but also a software package to be installed, it works GREAT! Being able to move the cursor from one computer screen to the other to drag and drop files just where I wanted them was amazing. No size limits and quite a bit faster than (and much less hassle than) using a thumb drive.

What can you say…..the cable worked as it needed to work…..finding it in the store was more difficult. I wandered the aisles. Looked through the accessories. Double checked everywhere. Couldn’t find it. To get help from an associate - I finally had to go stand in line in the computer area….when the associate there realized what I was looking for….he kind of sneered….thought about it for a second…. And shouted something to another associate who was trying avoid helping anyone. That associate muttered “I doubt we have it….” As he checked inventory on his “smart” device. A look of surprise swept his face as he took off at high speed toward the accessories….after a brief confused pause I realized that I should follow. When I caught him - he was plucking it from the rack….and with a “that should work” - he was gone. Thank God I wasn’t interested in buying a printer too ( I was….and did online from another vendor sitting in the parking lot before I drive home )

Worked great! Bought a new IMac and transferred all my files and photos from my old 2020 iMac using the migration assistant and had no problems. Thought I needed a Thunderbolt cable but this worked out well.

This thing was awesome you just plug your two computers together The software is already installed on the device and you can within two minutes start dragging files from an old computer to your new. My only suggestion is that it could’ve been a little longer than 6 feet but it worked great and it was easy to use and had everything needed to transfer files. Fast, too a lot faster than removal drive or cloud

Plenty of length. A better description on how to transfer would have been helpful.

The cable does exactly what it says. After plugging it in, your devices will automatically prompt you to download the accompanying software and from there your devices will be linked and you can click and drag files to and fro. File transfer is very fast and the price is decent as well

Unfortunately, I couldn't use it because it wasn't compatible with Laplink Software
